Would be a decent signing. He could be waiting for other offers though.
-
I find it quite hard to disagree with that. Management salaries in the public sector are extortionate. I would include teachers though as 'working staff'.
-
I don't think it matters whether we pulled the plug on the deal, or he just didn't want to move South. Surely the point is that we bid decent money for him.
-
They went in there and risked their lives to save others, just like any of them would do on any given day. You just insult them.
-
What a cheap shot. They've been asked to take a 5%pay cut on top of a 2 year pay freeze, and contribute 3% more of their salary to their pension. I don't blame them for not wanting to do the job for f*ck all.
-
You ignorant pigf*ck. It wasn't long ago that 2 Southampton firefighters lost their lives in a burning flat.
-
And you probably wouldn't have considered the public sector route years ago when everything was rosy in the private sector. The difference is that others did.
-
I take it you're taking the p!ss?

The Electric Comet: The Elephant in NASA's Living Room?
Wade Garrett replied to Saint in Paradise's topic in The Lounge
Acid is very 1960's, but is obviously still used out there. -
Oh no, does this mean Cortese isn't going to sign another striker. (Just getting in there, firmly with tongue in cheek, until some idiot posts it seriously).
-
This forum is now overrun by spoilt brats.

Ok, then who educates your children, empties your bins, and would risk their life running into a burning building to save the lives of yourself and your family? These people do a decent job for a salary lower than the private sector. They deserve a decent pension. If you work in the private sector and are too stupid to plan for the future then that's your look out.
-
How do you know that? I bet you used to root around your parents bedroom at the end of October and threw a paddy if you couldn't find any Christmas presents.
-
The percentage of GDP used to pay the pensions is actually going to lower significantly in years to come because of the deal the teachers signed in 2008, so you're wrong.
-
It's a free vote, so you make up your own mind.
-
He said it was wrong of the teachers to strike while they were still in negotiations. A little bit different to saying they shouldn't strike at all. He's still the wrong man to be leading Labour though. His brother would have had a field day with the sorry coalition, but from Ed it's like 'being savaged by a sheep'.
-
Because their members terms are being changed. I don't really get your argument there. I am getting pretty peeved at the demonising of public sector workers. Suits the Tories agenda, but a heck of a lot of it is without foundation.
-
At the end of the day, the recommendations on voting are irrelevant. If you agree vote yes, otherwise vote no. The vast majority of those balloted voted yes.

Red and white stripey grass?

Doesn't mean that people shouldn't legally protest if they are unhappy. It is their democratic right. The fact that even the most moderate teachers are striking suggests they feel very harshly treated. And stop going on about how bankers. You sound like a City groupie who has filled in the Panini Bankers sticker book.
-
To be fair to the teachers, they agreed to reduced terms and conditions in 2008, so I don't blame them for their protest.
-
Lots of bankers get rewarded for nothing. Fred the Shred to name but one, but there are many many more. I am not on benefits and fortunately never have been. The company I work for are in a sticky position like many others, and we have made people compulsorily redundant. So my job is far from cushy. You are bizarre because you seem to have this myopic view of the world at work, and the business of bankers.
-
You are bizarre.

Would you chop you little finger off for a million quid?
Wade Garrett replied to Rut's topic in The Muppet Show
I'd willingly lose my winky and ballsack for a million. But not my little finger, it might adversely affect my golf grip.
