  1. So are you telling me that as a taxpayer I spent all that money training you to be a hardened killer for six years only for you to jack it in.` What a waste.
  2. Pharmaceuticals - They are bound to engineer another pandemic scare next year
  3. The man has a lot of hate.
  4. I have no issues paying for the education provided the country benefits. How about redistributing the loans in a more useful way. 100% grants to select courses that lead to careers that will benefit the UK (eg engineers) For course such as golf management / dance - pay your way 100% after all it is your choice to go.
  5. Lets hope he gets the freedom of Ford Open Prison
  6. Good save
  7. Fair enough. Is the waiting list historic or is it a signs of the times - 3m unemployed etc.
  8. Good, lets hope everyone else follows suit. Last week I was stuck next to someone who should have bought two seats. It took him four attempts to get his backside in between the arms of his seat. He spilled out into my seat so that I spent two hours hanging out halfway in the aisle and the poor s0d on the other side of him was squashed against the fuselage. I want a refund for the half of my seat I didn't get to use.
  9. Can we sponsor Fake Sheik no 1. in recognition of the sterling job that he has done down there.
  10. They still need spuds peeled, floors mopped and things lifted. I would rather the more qualified regulars were doing what they were trained for as opposed to any of the above jobs. Seriously, if national service was brought back in, it would improve the recruitment levels into the regulars as some of the draftees may discover that they enjoy life in the armed forces.
  11. Try under your car seat.
  12. I think he means given the current economic climate. When I look at the 3m or so unemployed, damn right I'm thankful I still have a job.
  13. Loved this one LMT,Pompey 19/01/2010 13:12:11 Is this Pompey or Pompeii?
  14. FF, From your post there seems to be two reasons for the strike firstly that BA want to impose changes on staff with out the staff agreement and secondly the changes themselves. I don't agree with the first reason. It smacks of indignant outrage in a "how dare they tell me what to do" manner. This is what happens in business, times move on. h I am interested the second reason. As I understand it, they want to reduce cabin crew from 15 to 14 for some flights. What do other airlines have in terms of staff numbers on a comparable flight? This would certainly give some perspective to what BA are actually asking for.
  15. Don't worry, I have plenty left for them.
  16. Totally agree. I have found a number of jobs that the councils have been advertising. You couldn't make it up: Biodiversity Officer £15,420 - £18,140 plus PrP/Bonus Opportunities Gypsy & Traveller Liaison Officer – South East Up to £15 per hour Community Engagement Officer £23,860 - £26,917 Play Strategy Manager £37,851 - £40,506 pa Head of Clean and Green £57,111 - £59,982 Cultural Officer £34,707 - £37,476 p.a. inc Brent Tobacco Control Alliance Co-ordinator From £34,045 - £43,529 p.a. inc and my particular favourite.... Street Football Co-ordinator - £19,887 and you wonder why we can't afford the armed forces...
  17. I have to disagree with the comments that a 10 game ban was over the top. Prutton crossed a very clear line that day. I was relieved it was only a 10 match ban - it could have been a lot worse considering Di canio got 11 match ban for his efforts. I know violent conduct comes with a 3 match ban, but all penalties should be, and by the looks of it are, doubled if directed at match officials.
  18. Don't fly BA
  19. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8465208.stm Anyone got any holidays booked over easter?
  20. Perhaps we should start a thread to moan about the moaners who are moaning about the moaners who are moaning about the game.
  21. I was given a copy of west wing over christmas which has got me thinking. US politics is not perfect but they do have some elements that I would introduce into our system. First set terms of office - the government should not be allowed to decide when it is time to goto the country when they feel the opinion polls have swung in their favour. Secondly, Not prime minister is allowed to serve more than say 8 years (two terms). That should stop them becoming complete meglomaniacs ala maggie and to a lesser extent Blair. Third, elected House of lords. Seeing as their seems to be no criteria other that governemt whim to award a peerage, then they should not be given a say in running the country.
  22. Is any one a Liberal on here. The forum seems polarised between the hard right and the looney left. Middle ground anyone? One of the biggest issues IMO with the current crop of MPs is that half of them are professional politician and half never done a useful days work in their life. If they spent more time working for the country and less time jockeying for their own position I reckon we could do away with half of the commons and still achieve more. BTW I am not a fence sitter, I am on the RIGHT side of centre (proven by the chart thingey on here somewhere)
  23. Queensland Australia - Would also suggest a stop over in Hong Kong - two or three days there is great If you want closer to home - sharm el sheik - I stayed in the Hyatt Regency last year, great hotel. Great weather. Also I know a lot of people who have stayed there and none of us have ever suffered from the runs.
  24. I reckon Al-Fahim has pulled a masterstroke. Offloading £28m in debt and, just in case things do come good, retained 10% of a premiership club. Fake Sheik 1 may actually be smarter than everyone thinks.
