  1. How many chances do you give him to get it right ? I suppose as a co-owner the answer is as many as he wants. But for me, Rasmus has burnt up his credit with the Jones appointment. Appointing Nathan Jones yelled out Championship. Can’t help thinking Russell Martin is striving for Championship mediocrity.
  2. Mate said to me in the 1990’sor early 2000’s that there are two types of manager for Saints; good ones we can’t keep hold of, or others that nobody else wants.
  3. PV comes across as a fairly sound bloke on some of the interviews I’ve seen but I think the acceptance is based largely on his record as a player. (And perhaps his association with Man City, which as we know lulls the recruitment team at SFC to believing he must be quality …)
  4. Would satisfy the nice knitwear criteria as well. Of the other names you mention, hasn’t Bilic failed spectacularly a couple of times since? Cooper was linked due to ties with Crocker. He comes across as more of a training ground coach/manager than football spreadsheet so might not fit in with our revolutionary way of changing the game.

See your point but don’t totally agree about needing improvement is acknowledging culpability. May be semantics, but needing improvement covers a wide area.In Rasmus’ large ego but tiny mind the things that need improvement will probably be with Semmens and Crocker etc rather than him accepting responsibility. As I see it, using a nautical analogy, Semmens &Co had us aimlessly drifting towards an iceberg, but rather than steer away from it (with time on their side when they took over) Sports Republic have just accelerated full steam ahead into it. Sure Semmens and co can be criticised but the blame must rest with SR.
  7. Sure it wasn't Semmens ? ...and here we go again.... trying to be clever and unearth a gem. Watch the ST sales plummet with either. Yawn.
  8. Just realised. Relegated in 1974, the year Abba (also Swedish) won it. We might be on to something here. If it wasn't for the fact we've been shit, and have got less points than anyone else, this would be enough to convince me we might be going down
  9. Rasmus must now be deserving of his own song, even Rupert Lowe had a couple.
  10. Perhaps the players should donate their inflated salaries for the last year.
  11. Conspiracy theory ? I look forward to Ralph's memoirs and a chapter dedicated to what was 'The Grassy Knoll in the decline of SFC '.
  12. Isn't the top one just a recycling of Denmark's World Cup shirt ?
  13. Vieira seems to have been given a bit of a charmed life and easy ride on here, yet his record isn't any better than Lampard or Gerrard in truth, all trading on their playing reputations. The stand out point re Vieira is probably the Man City connection . As the club has had a bit of a fixation over this in recent years might put him ahead of the other two and some of the others mentioned.
  14. Three managers .... All of which is magnified by the Board and decision makers over the recruitment.
  15. Fair point, assuming the recruitment is realistic for the league we're in
  16. Bloke didn't want to be here two seasons ago. We shouldn't have gone back for him last summer. What changed other than us becoming more desperate ? Waste of space.
  17. Give Rasmus the summer to sort things, and there's a possibility the feeling of hope you're expecting may have drained out of you by September.
  18. I'd rather have a manager who has a reasonable grasp of English, and doesn't need a translator at press conferences.
  19. Certainly remember that bit. Flares being thrown, the full works.
  20. I thought we were 'down' already when we played Burnley, but the -10 was still 'to play for', as we might have still finished above the relegation places, so in effect not winning that match meant it was carried over. As you say, a longish time ago., and the finer detail is lost in the mists of time.
  21. I thought the -10 was only confirmed for the following season after the home match v Burnley (last home match of the season).

Would Joe Shields have been responsible for identifying and appointing a manager ? I certainly didn’t read his role that way, only player recruitment.
  23. Fact is we’ve got to pin our hope on Wilcox doing a good job for us as we already know what a clusterfuck Rasmus is capable of making. Agree about Vieira although not convinced as his track record as head coach/manager is pretty indifferent and it seems he’s still trading on his reputation as a player.
  24. Potter is probably the most ambitious target and name that we might be interested in that is remotely realistic. But he’ll probably want to see the EPL jobs closed off to him first after we go down. Although Leicester might also go down, I suspect they or Leeds in the Championship would be more appealing than us as the clubs seem to be more stable in the background.
