  1. No recognised striker … even on the bench it seems ( unless you include AA). Meanwhile, Elyonoussi retains his place. He really is the turd they can’t or won’t flush away.
  2. if that is the case why was he given the Wolves game ?
  3. I’m sure his contribution to Luton’s upward trajectory features on his CV and in interviews. “Now then Russell, can you tell us about … ?”
  4. Annoying that four more wins by Saints and Everton going down could be a more realistic prospect.
  5. Think it has to be this. One of my fears is that if Leicester and Leeds, assuming they come down with us, make what appears to be more impressive appointments, the discontent among our fans will crank up a few levels. Before a ball is kicked we’ll find ourselves back in ‘he’s got 10 games, give him till October’ type of territory.
  6. Who’s your preferred option FF ? Like you I haven’t been over enamoured with the RM rumours, especially hearing some of the views from Swansea. But having said that, once you remove the probably over optimistic names like Potter there aren’t many left. (I wouldn’t have been against Mowbray, but all names seem to have their flaws).
  7. Reads like you're already hoping for this to be the case which seems a bit premature really. I'm prepared to give him the first 45 minutes of the season before I start to call for his head.
  8. That hasn't gone amiss with many of us to be honest. We hope we've pulled off a masterstroke and found a gem, but with their track record over the last 18 months doesn't inspire confidence. Thanks to you and Wyn for the views. Much of what you say sounds all too familiar to us unfortunately.
  9. Even more disheartening.
  10. Both of whom had two promotions to their name before joining us.
  11. So, I'm not fully up to speed with some of the more modern phrases, but can someone clarify for me: does Russell Martin qualify as a hipster, or is he simply a hipster's choice of manager ? Would hate to get it wrong.
  12. Some intersting points there. Are you saying that Carrick and Corberan were approached ? Of the other names you mention I see it as a balance of risk and reward . From what I've read of them Jaissie and Gallardo possibly offer a greater scope for improvement at the club, especially if they were to get us back up to the EPL but would cost more. Their inexperience of both English football in general and and the Championship in particular will be seen as a greater risk. As things stand it appears we've gone for what is probably seen as a steadier but less spectacular pair of hands (with the potential to improve). Of the other names you mention, I wouldn't have been against the idea of Mowbray who always struck me as a solid 'proper football man ' at heart. All opinions of course.
  13. "managed decline" springs to mind.
  14. Perfectly understood. But it doesn't mean I don't have concerns about his involvement given the muppetry we've seen from him to date.
  15. Wonder if Semmens still considers Sports Republic the perfect partners and fit for the club's ethos.
  16. Does have a bit of the Lee Hoos/Wilde et al feel to it all. I'm indifferent to some of the other names and roles, but this one gives me concern: Rasmus Ankersen will continue as CEO of Sport Republic, overseeing football strategy.
  17. The league position doesn't matter.. Although they may want to rethink that when the financial implications hit home.
  18. I said on another thread - in jest - that we’d try and recruit a back room or junior from City. Remain of the view we should ditch this fixation with trying to be City Lite. But also find it remarkable that we actually considered someone with less of a track record(or experience if I can use that word) than Martin. Not only do we go for a second Championship manager with little or limited previous success , we also consider promoting a second coach to the top job.
  19. Don’t be so negative. We’ll see most of the current squad piss off. We’ve got money to spend and invest, the envy of the rest of the Division. Watch us assemble and train a new bunch of losers.
  20. Average or bad start and the whole place will be under a cloud of despair and we’ll be back in the give him till end of October type of nonsense. Well done Rasmus, it was so avoidable.

    Sport Republic

Over the appointment of, or dismissal? I’ve criticised Semmens for things over the last couple of seasons, but when it comes to fuckwittery he seems eclipsed by Rasmus W. Ankersen.
  22. Yep, agree. Eric gets my vote. Loved his ‘studs up’ approach when coming out to collect a ball. Osman is the only Russell I can think of playing for us. I was never a great fan, but he went up in my estimation on reading tabloid rumours that he knobbed Suzanne Dando in her prime.
  23. Whatever turns you on Turkish, no need to hide your feelings, you’re among friends and we’ll support you.
  24. Do you think Martin will be a more dapper sight on the touch line next season ?
  25. Think it’s best to have a GK. You’re aware of the other options though ? But it was probably too little and too late to bring McCarthy back a week or so ago.
