  1. Thought I read somewhere (possibly on here) that someone else - can’t recall who- had been spoken to, but that was always a back up plan. Rumours on here also of Dyche being seen at a hotel near Aegeas Bowl about a month before Ralph left. No idea if either true, or if connected in anyway.
  2. We might not ever know, or perhaps something will come out at a later date (Potter or Rodgers for example in an interview later in their career). But the club aren’t going to say they interviewed three/four candidates, and were rejected by two, passed on the other before their offer was made. Whatever the truth, whoever is appointed, will always have been our number one target.

Agree, but didn’t we try that with NJ, or perhaps the timing was wrong. I wonder what the reaction would be if we were appointing him now, having been relegated. A lot more enthusiastic I suspect.
  4. This ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, is passing attacking football: No passes back to Katalinic you’ll note. For one thing they probably didn’t dare due to the standard of his kicking. Any excuse to post this and revel in it. Didn’t realise we’d recently passed the40th anniversary of this.
  5. I was agreeing with your point rather than challenging it. As I see it the appointment of a Championship mid table manager with no previous promotions or success makes the selection of Jones (after his part in Luton’s rise up the league) credible. If Rasmus and SR had shown the Midas touch in earlier recruitment you’d be relaxed about it and expect the best. From most of what we’ve seen of them, prepare for more muppetry .
  6. Have finished your sentence for you. For those old enough to remember it. (Did they sponsor Radio Luxembourg Top 40 in the 70’s ? Vague recollection.)
  7. From the article, and viewing/hearing Swansea views I’m expecting tedium. Yes, would love to watch passing, attacking football. Those old enough to remember will recall it was the way Lawrie set up his best sides many years ago. But if you want an example of passing football then for me it’s the Saints goal v Liverpool 1983. Less than 20 passes, many one touch, moving from one end of the pitch to the other cutting Liverpool (possibly best team in Europe at the time) apart. That’s a world of difference from slowly recycling it at walking pace 56 times, to include around the back four and GK.
  8. Lawrie had also won Div 4 with Doncaster a few seasons before, and I think the season before we nabbed him he had taken Grimsby (as a newly promoted team I think) into the promotion race in Div 3. Not too sure I'd want to use Dave Jones or Branfoot to support my case, but factually it's correct both had been promoted before arriving at The Dell.
  9. Social media, at its best...
  10. Not sure if intended, or a Freudian slip, but made I laugh...(as I've heard said near Bristol ..)
  11. Couple of them I’ve encountered are quick and loud to tell everyone in earshot that they’ve “been headhunted …” and wasn’t looking to leave but couldn’t turn down the offer ..
  12. Thought you’d be impressed as it really does tick a lot of the inclusion boxes, and adds to our virtual signalling bollocks.
  13. The video isn’t an overwhelming endorsement of him. Sounds like he had a ‘Ralph run’ and purple patch of nine games at the end of the season. Just timed nicely to reel in a sucker like Rasmus to try projecting that over the course of a season !
  14. Wishful thinking but is the ‘publicity’ leaking around this a smokescreen whilst we are secretly negotiating with someone else ? If this happens then it’s another uninspiring selection by SR. It may prove to be a stroke of genius but SR haven’t done anything to suggest ‘genius’ is within their grasp. Could, and should have been more ambitious. Perhaps we were and they’ve rejected us. Was thinking yesterday that at least Tony Mowbray always seemed a ‘proper football bloke’. Only positive I can think of appointing this bloke is at least he will spare us an awful scouse accent that would have come with Gerrard, Rooney, or Schumacher.
  15. Or fucking stupidity

Of all the ‘outside’ long shots mentioned McKenna does seem to have bit more in his CV. Certainly has one more promotion than Martin anyway.
  17. Be bloody livid if our spineless board allow a talent like Alcaraz to leave without a fight.
  18. You’d hope we’d think as a Championship club with ambition to get out of it and back into the EPL, rather than a Championship club who see themselves for mid-table Championship for the foreseeable future .. Never mind, he plays a lot of sideways passing pretty football out from the back. And league positions don’t matter anyway (Simple Semmens Says).
  19. It wasn't intended to be serious.
  20. Think your telling porkies mate..
  21. Depends on the ambition of our owners, board, and how they 'sell' the club to the prospective new manager/head coach. Sit back, we're about to find out.
  22. So, have we really come to these as our only options: vegan, Bhuddist, Green Party member from Brighton v , the bingo machine eyes, tough mining town spiel and psychosis Await the newly signed up tree hugging vegans on the Forum. Perhaps we should have a poll, not sure who'd win. PlanetRasmus#
  23. Spoke to a Swansea supporter today who said exactly this about Martin. (Made same criticism of Martinez though, although I think this was borne out by various pundits after he went to the Everton). General observation was that he was not fussed whether RM stays with them or not, apart from it might give them some stability going into next season. Apart from that , acknowledged 'he plays some pretty football from time to time... but falls apart conceding stupid goals. Said he'd lost count of the number of times the GK playing it out from the back has put them under pressure or they conceded. Frankly, he could have been describing us as we are or have been over the last 12 months. In Rasmus we trust of course.

    Sport Republic

So when Sports Republic arrived, in a blaze of glory and optimism, did anybody expect the names of Nathan Jones, and Russell Martin to be linked ?
  25. If he comes to us I suspect he’ll only look to use us as a stepping stone. Looks destined to end up at Forest Green.
