after the Everton away game I heard Jones on the radio describing JWP as one of the best 'technicians' in the game. Hadn't heard the phrase used before but that night and for a couple of weeks the MOTD panel and others were using it quite regularly. As opposed to "without the ball", or was that just for Ely ? Big Ron was known for a few phrases, I think 'dinked it' might have been another. Then there are others that would be censored today.

Going into MLG mode on you for a minute, but the 'fact' (if it is) that neither Gunn or Gazzainiga are no longer considered shit is no reason, guarantee, or basis to think that Bazunu might develop so he is no longer considered shit. That said, what it tends to support - for me anyway - is that we simply haven't handled their development as young goalkeepers well. And/or the original decision(s) to sign them was flawed.

is that still going ?

But you also have to look at the 'sum of the parts' and what it leaves you with. Stephens alongside Bednarek is a poor combination when played together as all their failings are laid bare without the other being able to compensate for it. Put either of them alongside Fonte (at his prime with us) or VVD and they'd seem twice the player.

Agree, you should go on Twitter/X and tell him, #fuckoff#

Been lacking for a couple of seasons but will continue to be exploited this season. Tracing their first goal, Barnes had all the time to chest it and bring it under control without anyone rattling him, he must have thought it was a training exercise. Free headers in the box, and Sheff Weds previously covered and no further comment needed. Our last promotion had Fonte and Jos at CB.

I’m not too concerned about this ‘mobility’ issue now raised. Same could easily be said of Lambert when he joined us, or Kane. Doesn’t seem to have hampered their progress and goalscoring.
-
Probably. Boehly just wants to recruit for the sake of it, without thinking what he does with the squad when it’s amassed.
-
They must have a GK or two that are surplus to their needs. Bettinelli a couple of years ago might have been ideal. Problem is though he probably hasn’t played at any level for for a while.

Cake and eat it springs to mind …

I reckon this might be cause for an all night candle lit vigil.

From the little I’ve seen of them I thought they were quite similar, fairly nimble, neat ball playing midfielders. Is Charles seen as the enforcer ? Violinists, roadsweepers and all that from Laurie’s days.

End of the week. Isn't that today ? Doesn’t leave very long.
-
Can we play it in goal ?

his agent will probably sweet talk him (£££) into thinking it was all a misunderstanding. Expect to see RL next to Klopps artificial toothy white grin at some point. But you hope his professional pride will lead to him telling Liverpool to fuck off if they return.

Thanks for sharing that, a welcome real world distraction from the humdrum of football nowadays
-
Yes, and we have a sing for him ending “ … he hates Pompey”
-
Off topic , but Puckoon was a good read all those years ago. Think it was 50 years ago though when I read it. Tenuous link to bring Saints related is Spike’s dislike of Portsmouth (in an interview for Room 101).
-
Even more so when they come crawling back to enquire about Lavia and we tell them it’s now £60m plus % sell on. “There has been rampant inflation in the cost of midfield players over the last few days. Surprised you haven’t heard about it .. “
-
Galling to read but true. Credit to Gao, Semmens and Rasmus for their roles in 'Southampton Football Club: my part in their downfall'.
-
£110m from a club who wewre quibling over the extra few million to buy Lavia for half of that ! Hope Lavia realises where fault lays for him not getting his move to Liverpool, it certainly isn't with Saints, although in his head it might be.

And even then, it only slams shut after a) a live news presenter has a dildo shoved in his ear, and b) 'Arry is seen speeding away from Sandbanks in his Range Rover after doing an interview by the gate
-
IF that was the case can only be due to the high value that put on him as part of the 'trade off'.
-
When Channon left, Laurie brought in Phil Boyer to reunite him with Ted MacDougall. And I think bought Chris Nicholl the same summer, and still had a bit left over. Promotion at the end of the season. It can be done. (Lets not mention Shearer- Dixon/Speedie )
