AFCB not taking relegation without a bit of an effort to support their manager: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64400976

Yet we compound the problem with a ridiculous goal kick routine with CC and Lyanco standing on sentry duty at the corners of the six yard box.

NJ takes the flak for this, but I suspect this is just trumpeting what has been handed down from above. Not signing anyone of note it appears - especially the striker - so start the "small tight squad ... happy with it (see last week's ref to Che and Mara)... Seem to recall Ralph saying similar. In fairness NJ does say about improving the squad and the whole extract seems about offloading

Semmens says: Christ on a bike ! Surprised BBC don't feature this on their Jackanory page.
-
No it wouldn't.

At that sort of price seems a large gamble for a player who as you say doesn't seem a goalscorer. From the youtube videos he looks somewhere between a Trainee Zaha (and we need him to come good immediately not in 18months) and a Chicken George MkII (for those old enough to remember him), or Djenepo as Fareham suggests. Have to wonder how motivated in the Championship he'll be, or what we might end up having to release him for if we go down.

Good post and in line with my view on it. I've said before about Brighton , that they've quietly gone about their recruitment whilst our hierarchy (Reed, Wilson, Semmens) have largely just talked about it. But it should not be forgotten that Saints invented clever scouting, and the publicised 'Black Box' as widely spoken about in 2014. Trouble is that those involved - at the time and since - believed their own hype too much. All of which predates Rasmus, who may be similar from what we've seen to date.

Good point. Don't forget to wear your rainbow laces or shirt when you storm the club offices demanding answers. Just to let them see what a Diversity Champion you are. None of which helps bringing in a CF.
-
Just to add, so it isn't all about imports, Lee Todd was pretty pointless. Could add Dixon and Speedie, as well, but they did have some reputation before they joined us to go on.
-
Will you make it your mission to go in and check ?

Agree. The "on another day" bollocks is a bit of a sidestep to excuse another Saints clusterfuck time after time. On another day we hit the post three times (possibly from two yards out mind), then a defender slips on his arse they go through and score, we lose. Or the GK allows a fluke in. Then on yet another day, our key striker heads the ball against his own arm when on the goal line and it's disallowed. I think we've used the "on another day" excuse up
-
I thought of him, but then gave him the benefit of the doubt as if he were signed to help Pahars settle and turn into the striker he did for a couple of seasons then he wasn't entirely pointless. Although he was from his time on the pitch. Chala on the other hand. He couldn't even be relied upon to tell the squad or WGS it was Delgado's birthday.

Yet none of the MOTD pundits picked up on it, and Jenas even thought it was the right decision or words to that effect.
-
Yeh, when are they going to get the catering right ?
-
How long will Willcox be here ? Have to wonder if starting afresh in the Championship matches his ambition, or if on reflection come May he'll decide that 'the wife and kids don't want to move south after all..'
-
Absolutely, blame begins and ends with Semmens, Rasmus etc. Poor recruitment of players, and a huge gamble on the critical managerial appointment.
-
A game involving glaring misses by Elyonoussi and Adams. We’ve still to address that key issue.
-
And certainly not week after week.
-
The board probably think NJ is the man for us in the championship (in the event we go down of course).
-
Saving him for the Newcastle match !
-
Agree with this. If we go down I expect the board will keep him as he has knowledge of the Championship. But if we go down without a fight then I fear the negativity surrounding the manager will carry into next season and be difficult to shake off.
-
I vote Drone as MOTM for Saints.
-
He does have a WC winning GK to build on though.

One of the problems as I see it is that the fashionable types who eulogise the 'modern game' want a goalkeeper who is 'good with his feet' as the must have accessory. GK with the ball at their feet frighten me, it a fuck up waiting to happen. I've said this for several years, and the Boruc (Arsenal), Gunn (Huddersfield), and I think McCarthy passing out in one game (might have been Arsenal at home during lock down) support this. Great if the GK can deal with the ball on the ground, but first of all they should be competent with their hands. Something the Rasmus brigade overlook it seems.
