Might as well tweet: Poch is eyeing the Southampton job and doesn’t give a shit if they go down as his wife pines for Chilworth, (Winchester or wherever he lived) and the West Quay Shopping Centre. Just as likely to happen given the caveat Potter has placed on it.

Okay, so going back to the point I was responding to, would you look to appoint a manager with no previous experience? Or be happy with the choice if the club did ?

Fair point, I too have little confidence in them (Rasmus) and the selections. That said, Jones did have a record in the Championship as a manager. It wasn’t and shouldn’t have been enough for his appointment, and we all knew it was destined to fail. But it was a track record of some description.
  4. Morgan has gone downhill ever since leaving us. It doesn’t appear that the transitioning and sex change, along with converting to a new sport has helped either.

Agree that we’d stand a good chance of attracting him to the club, and that he has potential to make a decent manager. He was an excellent leader in the pitch but you’re probably overestimating his influence as Lovren, Alderweirald, were internationals on arrival, and VVD reasonably established. In terms of our next manager, and red and white tinted glasses aside, should we entrust it to an untried candidate? Probably won’t happen as it seems unlikely Rasmus will delve into our history. Strikes me as someone who believes the club only started the day he arrived.
  6. I'm not convinced that Semmens would be the decision maker in this. Gao was the one selling the club and the critical thing to him would be the ££, not the remaining board. Semmens may well of course filtered the applicants but it seems unlikely that Gao or his agents weren't closely scrutinising the bids and interest.
  7. Time will tell, but have to wonder how well connected he will prove to be. If our next manager is brought in having only previously coached Man City youth sides, then t will be a great concern. But perhaps no surprise.
  8. Mara was a questionable choice today, and the non-selection of Alcares who has looked one of more threatening players was ridiculous.
  9. Might not be any worse than what we've experienced for the last four months, even though he died about 24 years ago.
  10. The clear out should begin at a higher level than squad, or manager. It should start with Rasmus W. Ankersen for the Jones experiment, and those responsible for the shocking recruitment.

No way of breaking it to you gently, but it is a project he can, and even if offered, will refuse.

Agree. Is it time for an 'open letter' or a fly-by with a message ?
  13. From the (black and white) archives : Ron Davies, John McGrath, Jimmy Gabriel. Then; Alan Ball, Jimmy Case, 1976 Edition - Peter Rodrigues, Mel Blyth, David Peach 1990's : Dean Richards More recent: Lambert, Fonte Schneiderlin Worst Carillo probably tops the list, but others in the hall of shame are Forren, Hoedt. Longer memory shit signings - Dixon, Speedie, Mark Hughes .... and if we can include free's in the good signings then I'd add Scott Marshall OG in the worst.
  14. When Semmens said he and Ralph had identified someone who had then taken a post in the Premiership and was doing well, I thought this was a reference to Vieira . It seemed to coincide with his start at Palace. Not making a case for him, but I suspect he’s been on our radar before.
  15. Tuchel obviously fed up of waiting for us to approach him. He knows he missed out after Reid approached him all those years ago but clearly wasn’t prepared to wait around again.
  16. Coventry’s Talbot kit; TV kit:
  17. About that time (late 70’s/1980) Coventry were sponsored by Talbot Cars and the strip was designed to incorporate their logo. After a high profile fall out they had to have a different kit for TV. I think they also considered a name change to Coventry Talbot but that was also vetoed.
  18. You’ve potentially answered your own question. Not that young players, and continental or South American imports have any tendency for a strop and sulk of course.
  19. Yes, think you’re right.
  20. I think one of the Dave Jones seasons might have been our greatest escape (97/98 ?). We had an awful start with some players going through the motions (Carlton Palmer seemed to down tools), and might have been the year of Scott Marshall O.G. Seem to recall we were in the bottom 3 for nearly the entire season, but over the year brought in Kachloul and then towards the end Pahars. Got out of the bottom 3 on the penultimate weekend, and Charlton dropped into it. (Still remember Curbishey grizzling on MOTD tat it wasn’t fair that we’d been there all season !). Beat Everton 2-0 at The Dell in the last game to stay up (Pahars scored both). Was also the season of Dellhurst Park.
  21. And we paid how much for him ???

Credit to Selles for the improvements certainly, but we're grinding out the difficult points, but not the bread and butter ones you need to win.

I'll reserve judgement until the end of the season, although I still expect us to go down. As I see it: Stay up - the Board will offer him the job, and if he manages that he'll have deserved it from what he inherited. (concern re a repeat of the Hughes situation). Go down fighting - he'll start next season and we'll have the give him 10 games type of situation hanging over us (very Saintsy type of management from the top showing the dithering that has helped get us in this mess) Go down, with limp displays - 'thank you and we're looking elsewhere'. (but please don't let Rasmus W. Ankersen near the selection as he is probably the single most dominant factor in our demise this season).
  24. Did you post similar after Wednesday ? Not sure they took to the field with the belief they could beat Brentford.

Refreshing to have a manager who supporters can get behind and isn't the subject of a campaign to oust.
