  1. Hope he acts soon then to stop a continued plummet next season
  2. Come on Whitey, you’re a better man than that. Let them enjoy it. Number of things to get wound up about after that match, but not the supporters of a L2 club. As for not getting close to scoring, well think we all know about that.
  3. Yes, couple of divisions to go yet. Not yet. What’s the Quo lyrics, Down, Down, deeper and down …
  4. BOLLOCKS, BOLLOCKS, BOLLOCKS ....
  5. Obviously resting him. Thought we'd utilise our EPL quality squad against L2 opposition
  6. I think Tranmere takes the biscuit to be honest. Bearing in mind we had a good side then and had a 3-0 lead the result was unforgiveable . Watford 7-0 ranks pretty highly in the shocking stakes.
  7. cup tied.
  8. For me, his best position was at Parkhead.

    Ruben Selles

Have to wonder, but hopefully he'll come good. I thought he caused more problems and a bit of panic the other week against Wolves which doesn't happen with Adams.
  10. Having just looked it up, Everton are home to Bournemouth on the last day. Biggest fear, is Liverpool beating us on the last day, to keep Everton up leading to the inevitable media wankfest over Merseyside , special fans, special rivalry and all that.
  11. And would he have been less mobile for their goal yesterday if he'd been on two crutches ?
  12. I think the Benitez suggestion is out of the question, as manager, and even more so for a Hd of Football Operations role, isn't this the position Jason Willcox was due to be taking ? At board level, I've been critical of Semmens, especially for last summer's recruitment, but he's been completely eclipsed by Ankersen's handling since.
  13. If I remember, we wanted Maddison from Norwich (£22m) but when he chose Leicester, our next MF signing was Ely. Hard to believe there wasn't anyone 'in between' their standards. As for the original subject of Ely, he's a waste of space, weak, feeble, easily knocked off the ball, and not quick enough by foot or of thinking. Sad reflection of the state of our squad , despite what we've spent the last two windows, that he's a regular starter.

I'm not sure Saints appointing Gracia would have been met with widespread approval, especially on here. Selles has certainly unified the fans, and comes across very well.
  15. Not so much a defector, as one we rejected, but article on Kevin Danso: https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2023/02/21/southampton-made-huge-mistake-letting-one-of-europes-best-kevin-danso-go/
  16. In the event of stripes then totally agree.
  17. Will tonight go down as another "one of those special European nights at Anfield" ?
  18. It wasn’t just a team, that shirt spanned a few sides as the club evolved after 1976 under Lawrie. 1976 - the post cup-winning side (Channon, Osgood, … then signing Ted MacDougall, Alan Ball), Cup winners cup.. 1977/8 - the promotion year, Ted, Boyer, Nichol, Funnell, 1978/9 - back in Division One, Ball, League Cup Final, Golac 1979/80 - Channon returns, Boyer goal spree (at The Dell). always preferred what came next with the Keegan shirt, but the Admiral stripes certainly brings back memories of a good time to be a Saints fan.
  19. I think it was that season I saw Grimsby at Goodison Park. Long story, but was on a work course up there, one of the blokes was an Everton fan and persuaded some of us to go. I was interested in seeing Nicholl play for you so went along. But I hated Everton with a passion after the previous season’s FA Cup semi final (still do for that matter) so was quietly delighted when Paul Wilkinson scored in the last minute. just had to keep the smug glow of satisfaction and amusement away from the surface amongst the Everton support.
  20. Kevin Moore was very good for us. You forgot that our manager who signed him at the time was Chris Nichol who played with him whilst Asst Manager at Grimsby. And don’t forget Lawrie of course ( who signed Lew Chatterley and Ian Turner from you).
  21. When did you hear this rumour ? If you'd have written that on Friday then most would have been delighted, and speculated that AMN, Bednarek, and possibly Aribo would have been among those cast out. Two of them featured on Saturday though. Would be a shame if Orsic and DCC are two of the outcasts as I think they've got something to offer. Do you really go from WC semi-finalist for a decent side to not making our matchday squad ? However if attitude is the issue then RS is spot on.
  22. Serious note: yes, very commendable and have to acknowledge him for that. Not so serious though: could we lend him to the rescue mission in Turkey for the rest of the season ?
  23. My big fear as well (along with some of our players ability to self destruct). Would come as no surprise if Leeds throw some money at a big name replacement even on a temporary contract. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen, at least not until after we’ve played them. Half expect West Ham to replace Moyes as well this week, depending on today’s result perhaps.
  24. Is DCC helping him to struggle settling at the moment ? Or his continued absence purely coincidental?
  25. Where is Mislav Orsic ? might be a better topic to write in at the moment.
