Must be due to beat them at home soon
-
We’ll never know what would have happened had the ref started making his way back to the centre circle, oblivious to the offside. Perhaps rather naively I would have hoped the linesman raises his flag to draw the refs attention to it, not wait for the refs permission to ‘speak’. Without that, I wonder if he’d have ‘bottled it’.
-
Think the FA Cup tie I’m referring to was late 1980’s, 88 at a guess. From recollection they still had a ban on away fans in the league but had to lift it for the cup. The ground really was in backstreet Shitsville.
-
First thing I noticed was that the linesman stood rooted to the spot which indicated an infringement. Only doubt was why he hadn’t raised his flag. Was he waiting on the ref to make the decision for him ?
-
That and the c^nt Steve Forster with his headband bring back memories of another Saints collapse in the Cup. Coins flying between fans. Shithouse of a ground, area and team.
-
Is it definitely midweek again this season ?
-
That would be our sort of luck.
-
Have to wonder if Forster or McCarthy would have charged over to the linesman to confront him about the offside decision. Assuming either would have kept out the shots in quick succession in the first place. Perhaps Willy should also be in charge of specialist training for 'influencing the refs and linesmen', something which normally I don't like to see, but others - especially at the top of the table - have perfected the art over many years.

Just be thankful its not v the skates, and TCWTB pissing on it

Anyone parked at Centurion Business Park recently ?

Think the same could be said of Rupert, the Head Helmet at the time. Bringing Sir Clive and some of his ideas in wasn't as bizarre as it seemed at the time, but the timing of it after relegation when we could ill afford it, and trying to marry 'new' sports science with 'Arry was never going to work.
-
I've read of Etienne Green previously in an earlier window. Sounds a promising keeper but I'd be hopeful that whoever we sign as GK is ready for the first team not a 'prospect' or 'one for the future'. We tried that with Gunn and ended up with McCarthy and FF retaining the position.
-
He still had to score them though, and they all count, to be fair (to use in the in vogue phrase).
-
I semi recognised that name but couldn't place it. Quick google and saw it - The Bevois Castle as was. When did it change name ?
-
That links to a Twitter page of Simon Darcy Clifford. No wonder he got on well with Rupert. Would have had the piss taken out of him a lot more if his full name had been known.

Lampard ..... flash London geezer arrives at his new club and spends millions as soon as he can. Must have borrowed a template on 'The Art of Management , F'sure ' from someone in his family.

Quite a remarkable fall from great heights a few seasons ago when he was talked of as a world beater in the making, and £80-90m figures in the media bandied about with top European clubs looking at him. Now Levy doesn't even want a fee, but just wants him off the payroll.
-
Unfortunately I can't see they'd have the balls to try bringing that one in.
-
Utd may have allowed Henderson to go there though, according to some rumours. As for Chelsea, and Broja, irrespective of him coming to us, and I doubt he will, whether he remains at Chelsea might depend on who else they bring in. Tuchel I read was a fan of Dembele who he worked with at Dortmund, and they were linked with the French wonderkid, Etike (also mentioned with Newcastle and West Ham). If either of those happen it might lead to a decision to release Broja, albeit with a buy back involved. Whatever the outcome at Chelsea, I hope Saints don't leave this dangling waiting until towards the end of the summer window for a Chelsea decision before bringing in another striker.

Agree that they've probably lost the spirit of the club, and it might become a soulless money churning playthi9ng for Arabs, a Chelsea, or Man City-on-Tyne, if you like but I suspect their supporters will cope with that if it brings a winning team. The headgear thing is annoying, but you can imagine some of our saps doing likewise if it were us without thinking too deeply about what or who they were paying homage to. Their recruitment policy isn't as 'scattergun' as many want to believe. Howe is recruiting players for the relegation battle ahead of them, players with some experience of the league they're playing in. But you're right that the likes of Burn and Wood will be cast aside at the end of the season. As might Howe. Wonder if that will wipe the smug look off of his face. Probably not if they pay his contract up. Not sure about y9ur last point re Inter Milan, although I've read similar comments to this on here before, bit not sire it's correct as Red Bull seem to have managed to skirt round it, Leipzig were even drawn against Salzburg in the last year or so. How have they done that ?
-
Do they though ? Can't say I've seen or read too much apart from the initial euphoria after buying the club from Stavely or the owners. Most of the circus seems to stem from journalists around the club trying to scoop an 'exclusive' by linking them with every player imaginable in the hope they get one right. This is annoying but that's more the media than the club.

You're right, but it begs the question whether we'll ever get to see that success if any good season we have culminates in the team being pillaged and best plyers sold to start all over again. I was lucky enough to be there in 1976, and would like to see something like it again but may be running out of years for it to happen.

Not encouraged by the then QPR manager to make the journey before the bid had been accepted of course, F'sure ....
-
Plus the fact that he might prefer to stay in the south ... easier to get back to the glitzy nightlife in London that he's used to.
-
Can't see it happening, as he'll probably want something more glamorous (West Ham to stay in London),or go to a club funding a greater % of his wages than we will. But then again I didn't think it likely that Peter Osgood would sign for us either (Although the salary difference with the big clubs is far wider now of course).
