I don't see it as a big loss either. I've previously posed the question on here, as to what was his track record to make him such an attractive option to Les Reed ? To date no one has provided any suggestions. Hardly surprising as I can't see anything noteworthy in his time at previous clubs. Huddersfield's rise and the appointment of David Wagner occurred about a year after he left.

I'm not sure if this has been reported down here: https://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/football/17975674.southampton-manager-admits-departure-ross-wilson-rangers-big-loss/ Of course, Wilson is being talked up for the Scottish media.

Strained his ego on Instagram probably.

Interesting: They forgot the Sports Centre. 1960's.

Was this the site referred to as Western Esplanade ? If so I only remember the talk in the late 1970's.

Isn't this just a modern trend and fad in many industries and professions though ? Measuring KPI's, SLA's and whatever other buzzwords and crap management speak come up with. Your last sentence could read for any organisation by changing reference to football and footballers to sales/surveyors/technicians/ whatever. Seems that we're turned crap on the pitch, and although this probably manifests itself in the data, the critical thing is - despite all the analysts - that no one is able to alter it. Sums up many companies. Someone commented about 15 years ago that for everyone doing the job there were about two people measuring it.

Got to say I don't recall Tim Flowers being particularly mistake ridden, although it is a fair time ago now of course, so maybe the memory is letting me down. I seem to recall at one point some questioning why Chris Nicholl was persevering with Burridge when Flowers was waiting in the wings. In hindsight CN was probably protecting Flowers. Burridge on his day though was a good GK, probably better than we have now, but would probably be deemed too short in the current game by many although his agility often made up for it. Hope Gunn reaches the standard of Tim Flowers, but like Ohio I've yet to see it. TF was regarded as an exceptional prospect outside of Southampton from an early stage.

That would be an interesting and positive selection. Trouble is though that we can bandy all sorts of names about but ultimately it comes down to Gao, or his board (presumably Martin Semmens now) convincing candidates of the ambition and drive to make things happen. On this basis I wouldn't be too optimistic of landing anyone with a decent proven track record or that we've heard of. -

Now found the name I was looking for, Phil Giles. -
Yes, you may be correct in that Rangnick's direct involvement at Leipzig is now reduced. From this article looks as if he's taken a sideways move leaving Mitchell as the key for Leipzig Full article: https://www.forbes.com/sites/manuelveth/2019/06/04/ralf-rangnick-and-the-big-reshuffle-at-rb-leipzig/

Weren't we linked with a member of their recruitment team towards the end of last season ? Recall seeing a link and an interview with the bloke. Recollection is that he was a Geordie. Name of Martin Scott rings a bell but having googled it that isn't the case. Should be, yes. But with Gao controlling the purse strings it probably isn't as much of an attraction as we'd like to think. AS SaintsLoyal says, Glover is likely to be elevated if only as a "temporary" measure, only to be made permanent after a period (no doubt due to our saving on wages. False economy probably but that seems to be the way we operate). -
How independently do RB Salzburg operate frok RB Leipzig ? As I understood it the real brains and driving force behind the group is Raplh Rangnick who appointed Mitchell.
-
Some others though, like this one, run for three seasons.

Frankly I'd settle for being an Average team, but we are not. We are well below being Average, we have a sub-standard team with weaknesses throughout the team and all over the pitch.
-
Not looking to defend Ross but therein also lies much of the problem.... ... again down to previous recruitment dept., of which RW was a part

What an assortment of c^nts; not sure which I detest more the half and half scarves, or filming an opponent celebrating (unless of course they are glory seekers following 'their' club, in which case they shouldn't be sat there in the first place). Careful what you about the Chines "tourists", they could be our next or future owners.

Out of interest does anyone know how many managers we are still paying, or paying off ?
-
Yes, this thread could have been running since January 2017. Another clusterf^ck attributable to ubercretin Les.

The fickleness of fans ffs. Staggering. Let's bring in 'arry, or Fat Sam... No point changing the manager, it's the dicks at the top that need to go to see any improvement.
-
His departure will be dressed up as ambition, joining a bigger club etc, but for me there are two other reasons why he might p!ss off, a)leave before he's fully found out - at the moment he has the protective layer of having only been Reed's assistant, or b) leaving what he knows or regards to be a sinking ship. Time will tell,, but neither make comfortable reading.

McCarthy should be first choice in my book. I fully understand RH experimenting with Gunn after McCarthy conceded a soft goal at Huddersfield last season, but McCarthy has built up some 'credits' in my view following his performances at the end of the Hughes season. McCarthy made some vital saves and memorable ones from time to time (Everton away, and Bournemouth home spring to mind). I've yet to see anything memorable from Gunn in the same league, his 'belly flops' in the penalty shoot out v Derby last season left you wondering if an outfield player had been forced to take over in goal for some reason. Is Gunn now the third GK to have gone backwards under our GK coaches in a row ?
-
Exactly. I doubt Pep could make this lot into a team, so don'yt blame Ralph for the current shambles even if some of his selections are at times mystifying. This is where much of the the blame for the present mess should lie. Although Reed and Wilson are first in line for our abysmal recruitment.
-
The worrying aspect of this ... Knowing how Saints have worked in recent seasons whats the betting that the club announce the ex-Everton scout brought in over the summer can take the role.
-
Do you mean apart from Les Reed ?

I'm not a keen cricket follower but have seen about'The 100' in the press, and just read a bit on the BBC. Can one of you keen cricket followers tell me: Is this the end of County cricket ? Or is that just suspended for the duration of the 100 tournament ? How did they select the cities to compete, why for example nothing in Bristol ? (A Saints v Pompey might have offered cricket an entirely new dynamic). Are the cities here to stay, or is this likely to rotate, so Bristol, Brighton, Newcastle, wherever are involved in future ? Sorry might seem daft questions, but I'm a cricketing simpleton to be honest.
