  1. Ottery seemed a good bloke and poster on the forum , but vanished from here in 2014.
  2. Paraphrasing of an 70's group, it sounds as if its a case of Dodgynessabounds.
  3. Two great shots. Delighted by the result, especially after Saturday's result. Watched the highlights, and despite the results I'm in shock with Vestergaards giveaway before we scored, thankfully Tosun is equally crap, and Long's timid and feeble effort (at 2-0 up) that could ahve put the game out of reach. Great result, but still a mistake to think the squad is good enough. Pleased to see a clip of Zaha clearly still wound up by JWP, their feud from last season appears to be ongoing.
  4. Couldn't have happened to a better bunch ...(apart from spurs perhaps).
  5. Saw a bloke being cuffed and dragged at the Kingsland/Northan corner by about four stewards at the end of the match. Was this the same bloke ?

    Oriol Romeu

Is this intended to be humorous, or said as a p!sstake ? Alternatively you really are living up to (part of) your user name.
  7. Some infamous collapses: Chelsea at home 2-0 to 3-2 (2018 ) Leeds at home 3-0 to 3-4 (Championship) Villa at home 2-0 to 3-2 (the relegation year 2005) M'boro 2-0 to 2-2 (after the 89th minute - 2004) Spurs at The Dell 2-0 , to 2-5or 6 (FA Cup replay 1994 from recollection) Spurs at The Dell 3-0 at HT to 3-3 (and Spurs hitting the post in injury time) 1979 Bolton 3-0 to 3-3 FA Cup 1974 Lets not mention Tranmere. I suspect many Saints fans are still traumatised by some of the above fixtures. Of course there have been some good recoveries also, 3-3 v Liverpool at The Dell, and 3-2 v them at St Mary's, 3-2 v MK Dons, and didn't we draw v Forest (after being three down)in our Cup run of 1961 before thrashing them at White Hart Lane in a replay ? (Not old enough to remember it though).
  8. Is this the Ralphampton way ?

    Talcum powder

I thought this was a comparatively recent scare.
  10. Ron would have gone to Man Utd like a shot in 1969 when they offered £200,000 for him after Sir Matt Busby described him as the best centre forward in Europe. But the Saints board said "no", and that was it. No tantrums, sulks, or campaign through the media.

    Fans Event

Bet they don't make a clustref^ck of ticket allocations though on a regular occurrence.

Also makes it look like a Darby & Joan type of day out. Which it might very well be on the famed BingoBus.
  13. Including three games in four days over Easter.
  14. Been thinking about this, and Ron in the context of how he would have fared nowadays. Not sure his lifestyle would be in keeping with the super fit athlete now required. Ron was I believe a regular member of "lock ins" during the 1960's, now of course with more relaxed licensing laws such "lock ins" aren't a feature. The downside though is that with social media I expect Ron's presence 'after closing hours' would be well documented. With a close watch on Twitter etc I suspect the manager (even Ted Bates or someone monitoring on his behalf ) would have found it easier tracking his whereabouts. Can't remember the player but I do remember a story of Ted going to a pub or nightclub to hoist a player out after a 'tip off'. Perhaps FF with his historians hat on can tell us if this is just a myth.

This is a f^cking insult frankly. Having paid for a Membership+ I'm still asked to pay twice what the away fans are paying. Having hoped we'd got rid of the charlatans at the club (Reed & Wilson) it's a timely reminder that we still have morons and muppets running it (for the anonymous Gao).
  16. Thought we'd be in for Maehle having been closely linked twice before. Perhaps this potential signing is a victim of Gao being cash strapped. KWP - has any signing from Spurs been that good for us ? LB - the Dutch lad sounded a good prospect, although something didn't stack up there as to why PSG might let him go. Joe Bryan hasn't set the world alight at Fulham despite being rated at Bristol City. We should be aiming higher, although I doubyt we'd be looking to shell out £7m on him.
  17. I'm hoping for four points out of the next two as a good return. Although only 4 pts from Sheff Utd and a win on Saturday would take us level with Wolves (barring GD of course) lets not forget two poor results and we could be in the mire again.
  18. Think we want a draw there from our perspective. Don't really want Watford staying up.
  19. Not read that before, I read it as an obligation to buy at the end of the season, without caveats (other than if we'd been relegated and the player declined the move).
  20. No sense in changing manager even after the Leicester defeat, we weren't going to attract anyone of note let alone better. Just hope at some stage we get to see Ralph put his own team together and that the board/owner are able to back him.
  21. Is this intended as a loan ?
  22. You might wish to rephrase that !
  23. Always sad to read of former Saints passing away. I didn't see either play, but I remember some of the older members of my family talking about George O'Brien and they rated him quite highly.
  24. This thread could be about Fabrice Fernandes, or Gaston... just change the name and insert...
