  1. Is there any possibility that the Hughes issue is a smokescreen for another appointment ?
  2. Have to hope neither Derby or Fulham make it to the PL then.

    Les Reed

In the world outside of Saints forums I think Reed still enjoys a reasonable reputation as a DOF. Charlton Athletic aside that is.
  4. Accept that you can't always take too much from a managers time elsewhere, but Strachan came to us without any previous time at Saints to draw on. Hughes time with us as a player was far from successful, and he played in our great escape season, many regarding him and some of the 'bigger name' summer recruits as being responsible for disharmony in the dressing room. Be interesting to see how glad MLT & Benali are to see Hughes at the helm if it happens.
  5. No track record in that respect as far as I know.
  6. Agreed. If he comes here and keeps us up, possibly getting to a Cup Final as well, I don't see him as a long or even medium term manager for us. An 8 game contract, or eleven including FA Cup ties is more than enough. Then rebuild in the summer.
  7. Another potential recruit no longer available: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43379269
  8. You think we might win?
  9. For all the criticism coming his way I expect he's above that level. Although he did spend some of his career at Liverpool so who knows what 'local customs' he picked up.
  10. Just goes to emphasise what a low life Carragher is, despite his wealth. Pond life. But no surprise. Yes, probably the realisation of some serious compensation coming his way.
  11. Haven't the Echo run a similar poll ? In all likelihood the club are oblivious to the poll on here. Worryingly though they also seem oblivious to our results and form.
  12. I can think of approximately £19m that would have been better spent in terminating MP's contract.
  13. I said it was a game that matters as I go along with your desire for success in the FA Cup, but financially and for the future of the club retaining our status in this league is vital. I don't want to get into the which one would you want debate, frankly I want Cup Finals this year, and next, but the best way of increasing our chances of long term success is from the top league. I tyhink we've done the 'go down' to rebuild and regroup' thing before, and until the Liebherr involvement it was a miserable experience.
  14. The only comparable was Lowe's perseverance with Wigley, although he did bring it to a halt in December. Best not to reflect on the subsequent appointment of course.
  15. Shame Noah Liebherr can't bring to their and the wider world's attention via Twitter or instagram then that it's all going 't!ts up'. Or perhaps Kat can casually mention it to Nelly during their next (Skyped) coffee morning. Despite all the means of communication now available ,there does appear to be a serious breakdown in the communication and management chain somewhere along the way.
  16. Unfortunately this is symptomatic of the Les Reed way of thinking to date. I think there have been enough last chances of if we don't get a result against..... You can go back to the Everton home game for that, and although he came through that one subsequent pivotal games v Huddersfield, and Palace at home were not yet the f^cker still remains in place. For me, the Wigan match is a good opportunity for a new manager to see the players in action in a game that matters, before the more serious business a fortnight later v West Ham that really matters. MP has already frittered away all his 'get out of jail cards' as far as I'm concerned. His criticism of the players spirit yesterday must surely be an admission that he's lost control. Only Reed knows why MP is still here.
  17. So far I've yet to see anything Sam Gallagher might not have offered us. Fortunately though Gallagher has spent the past two seasons playing out relegation battles in the Championship which will stand him in good stead for us next season.Great foresight and planning Les.
  18. Agree with OP that immediate steps should be get rid of MP, and bring in an emergency replacement on a short term deal with a hefty incentive to keep us up. Start again in the summer. In the summer completely restructure the club management, getting rid of Reed and Wilson. Mitchell has now gone to Leipzig. As for CEO, I can't see Purslow being interested unless Gao is prepared to invest.
  19. Just surprising the pundits have taken so long to identify our frailties. Last week Murphy said of Saints and Stoke "they'll be alright...". Still its now out in the media and wider world that we are sh!t, so no hiding place for Reed now. Act now and get rid of the clown.
  20. or VD ?
  21. Sort of fixture they (WHU) would probably choose given the chance.
  22. More likely a highly predictable and embarrassing loss at Wigan.
  23. Surely even Les will want to get shot of the him after this further shambles. Going down with The Pelgrano.
  24. No one saw that coming of course.
  25. So it's a choice between Pellegrino and Frank De Boer. Two clubs interested. Who really had their first choice, us or Palace? Credit to Palace for acting when it was blatantly obvious it was the wrong choice.
