  1. Pretty distant from my only visit there (2023).
  2. Inclined to agree. Chelsea blow hot and cold, despite the multibillion squad at their disposal. (But on balance, sensibly, we’d be out of our depth playing them. Just as we were Arsenal of course ! ). City … would like to avoid.

    Spors

The big concern re Spors for me is that he is headhunted by another club or group, either here on in Germany. He might be tempted by either money, homesickness, or both. His first move of course would try to take his protege with him.
  4. Yeh, but the media love a “proper working class football club”. Or at least they do when they’re not salivating and arselicking those owned by oligarchs, US billionaires, and oil states finding ways to skirt round the financial rules that apply to everyone else.
  5. Have to wonder if the club have made a balls up in releasing limited edition 1976 shirts at £120 a time. Now that we’ve reached a SF there could be thousands wanting them, perhaps forced to buy from a dodgy inline outlet. Having said ‘limited edition’ they can hardly suddenly have 000’s available for general sale. Unless perhaps there is some slight variation, different crest with 2026 FA Cup on it, and possibly no autographs on the body. But you might feel peeved having bought one for £120 if they did that.

    Spors

Should have been sent after he sacked Still but in fairness he has compensated by bringing in Tonda.
  7. Can’t be right. Aren’t they meant to be the Northern version of the ‘bestest’ in the world ? In fairness they can be good, although a bit muted at end of play off final. Would prefer West Ham in SF if possible.

    Tonda Eckert

Has any yet made the point that Wrexham is his first big test ?

    Tonda Eckert

I’m really impressed how he keeps a lid on his emotions in interviews and more so on the touchline. Especially when you consider he’s only 33. Look at his reaction to one of the goals on tv. Then remember how Ralph and I think Koeman once went charging down the touchline. ( And I was a big fan of both).
  10. It’s a strange debate for LB, in my book they’re equally good, and equally bad. I’ve not seen the attraction for Wellington that others do (and for some the main thing is that he isn’t Manning) but Manning shades it for me.
  11. Everton, spurs ??
  12. The Solent comment I heard was based on an interview with Manning
  13. Sounds good. Surprised it hasn’t made it onto a T shirt. Probably not in good taste for the club shop though
  14. 56 years for me and agree with this. Easily one of - if not - the best at St Mary’s. The Dell had quite a few over the years, but these were usually seen through a child’s eyes until 17 then a blur of alcohol. The great escape years had a few and some good ones in the 70’s and 80’s
  15. Of course he was. But what do you expect when Marcus Liebherr had been a commander in an SS tank division during the war ? Pretty impressive as he wasn’t born at the time. Another Great Portsmyth from one of the websites.
  16. Heard on Solent in the car back that he is.
  17. Far preferable. I hope I’m still around in 2035 for the sash return for our 150th year. OldCunt#
  18. I'm in the category, didn't like it at the time but thought it fine on the repeat. Main difference from recollection is that the original appeared a lighter shade, and red and pink from a distance. The recent one was a darker shade. Or perhaps my memory is playing tricks on me.
  19. One of our worst home kits definitely, agree that 85-87 was worse. Of all our kits nothing is worse than the ridiculous away abomination from 2022/3
  20. Since when has making players available been optional ? Apart from when it's a 'Big 6 ' club of course.
  21. That'll go down well with some of their traditional fanbase
  22. Yes, the 'arry interviews will soon turn to 'they, them...' rather than anything to do with " I , or we.."
  23. Probably the first time some of them have seen Man Utd play live
  24. FA Cup final sandwiched between play offs semis and final to keep the momentum going. Bollocks ! May could be an expensive month.
  25. Not a ‘best’ goal (and doesn’t compare with Channon’s team goal, or MLT v Newcastle) but certainly in the next band and as good as some others mentioned. Paul Gilchrist v West Brom in the 1976 Cup Replay, after about 60 seconds, he volleyed the ball over his head for a great start. It was definitely a “how did he do that ?” moment. There didn’t seem anything on as the ball came to him, goal over his shoulder, and surrounded by defenders. I did find footage of it a while ago and posted it on here. I think the goal has been overlooked partly due to the lack of footage, but also the fact Gilchrist’s name immediately conjures memory of his goal in the SF, and his performance v WBA was eclipsed by a Channon hat trick.
