Perhaps for that reason we should be beating a path to his door once more.
-
Probably like every other club in the country we'd end up playing in a half empty stadium. Apart from the skates who'd be playing behind closed doors of course.
-
Ridiculous and disgraceful booing our own players, even VD after his summer strop. Re the Redmond - Long difference, Long is known to run around a lot, occasionally irritating an opponent in the process, and he claps the fans. It's called the 'Prutton Factor'.
-
Very little if any chance of Butland coming to us, he's now a CL club target and doubt we'd shell out £30m or so on him. Makes it seem criminal that we didn't sign him when first promoted. £6m wanted by Brum seemed steep at the time for an 18year old, and you can understand Cortese's reluctance to spend that on an untried player, but should gone back with £4m in the January. Compare this with the money we wasted on Ramirez and Gazzaniga at the time.

another all night candle lit vigil it is then...
-
Perhaps they'll try for Lemina as well then.
-
Bye bye Ronald. Such a shame as to what he might have achieved with us.... doubt either the Arsenal or Barcelona jobs will come his way now.
-
Bad patches last a few games,or couple of months at the most, not for a season and a half.
-
Now that would be amusing if he turned up at West Ham, no doubt Fonte will be at the head of the playing squad to welcome him. Personally I don't dislike Puel and have no grudges against him. Always seemed a decent bloke and manager although possibly out of his depth and comfort zone in EPL, and certainly not helped by our transfer record 2016/Jan 2017, or by players possibly looking to undermine him (if rumours are correct). In the summer I felt a separation was in the interest of Saints & Puel, although whether we have improved our prospects with MP is questionable.
-
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Wonder if we'll manage it again this season.
-
If Leicester want an upgrade on Puel then surely they should be canvassing Pellegrino. Unless of course despite their wealth they don't want to pay compensation.
-
I'll be mightily p!ssed off if Leicester manage to pull off an outstanding appointment that could have been us.
-
Shouldn't our all knowing Black Box have established his style of play long before we sat down to talk to him ? He was meant to be our first choice who we had tracked for some time.
-
I heard that on MOTD last night, and my immediate thought was what about the linesman, was he not on that side of the pitch? At the time it looked a straight red to me from the Kingsland/Northam corner.
-
Doubt we'd match the terms on offer, or come anywhere close. Unless of course the rumour has come from some German journalist has had a whisper he's been talking to a Chinese...
-
.. added to which Arsenal and Chelsea could be possible destinations in the next 12 months. The reverse argument of course being that a good nine months with us and he'll be set up for any one of those jobs.
-
We should be speaking to him again now that our ownership has been resolved. Unless of course we've got f^ck all to spend on transfers and no ambitious plans/project to talk of.
-
Anyone notice if any of the owners, or Ralph were in attendance to witness this today?
-
.. as well as when he ballooned a free header over from a good position
-
Yes, the bloke from Anderlecht. The Black Box has been monitoring him for two seasons. Pure co-incidence he's currently available. Honest.
-
The reason we will most probably have to wait is that there is no one in a position to make the decision. For Reed to remove Pellegrino it is an admission of his own failings over the appointment in the first place, and I we are lead to believe Reed is the decision maker for football related issues. Unless of course Ralph wants to take matters by the scruff of the neck and act (perhaps he should, but sacking a manager is an "easy" decision, the hard decision is selecting the replacement). Perhaps it's too early for the Gao's to have their own football adviser or consultant, but if they do then let's hope its an improvement on that guiding other Chinese owners, or we'll end up with a failed name such as Zola.
-
You only need a couple of good shots on target to stand a chance to be honest. As someone else said, we've simply not replaced the right players with the quality needed. I also believe a new GK was required. Forster is one of yours initially, fancy taking him back ? Yes, but whether our new owners are able to release the purse strings is an unknown. Most of us on here doubt it. But you could try to take Forster - Hexham lad - back home, how does £20m sound ? Sounds about right. We'll go for two upfront in the 87th minute to pull one back, probably scored by VD or Yoshida.

I was two days out.

I remember that era and Bolton team. In Division 2 at the time, and they always seemed to sneak it 1-0 after we'd be out-muscled by Allardyce in particular. I also recall Peter Thompson playing against us and giving a great display of old fashioned wing play turning our right back ( Bob McCarthy I think) a torrid time. I was fortunate enough to get Thompson's autograph in the Dell car park afterwards and above all remember how willing he was to talk football to us (I was probably about 13 at the time).

Doubt that many fancy it to be honest.
