  1. Why is the Saints v Burnley game considered worthy of broadcasting to the country at this stage of the season ?
  2. sack
  3. Felipe Anderson was also recently linked with Wolves btw.
  4. Reading the lumberjack comment amused me, bringing back obvious memories of Monty Python.
  5. Mmm... skillful South American to be signed from Serie A. Haven't we been here before ? Agree, looks a quality player from that footage. Hope we don't sign him as a penalty taker though. Better than Pelle or Zaza perhaps, but looks on par with Rodriguez for tamely placing them.
  6. See the bestest, roared on by their passionate support, bravely clawed back from 1-0 down against ten men for much of the match to salvage a point. Rest of the Division must be petrified of them.
  7. £8m - for someone Chelsea paid £2m a year ago.
  8. Can't understand why this bloke is still avaialble given the way people are talking about him.
  9. Spurs are linked with making a bid for Boufal in various sources. Don't know enough about the player to really comment, but from the Youtube video someone posted he looked quick, nifty... but seemed to go to ground a lot. Thankfully, Puel & our esteemed Black Box team will know a lot more about him in order to make a judgement.
  10. That's a good read David, thanks for posting it. I was too young to see Ron's first few seasons with us, and by the time I was introduced to Saints, Ron Davies already had folklore status. My first season 1969/70 was in good time to take in his 4 goals at Man Utd though. I remember the press speculation after that when Sir Matt Busby described Ron as the best Centre Forward in the world, and Man Utd were said to have offered a then record of £200,000 for him (I think the record at that time was still £100,000 for Alan Clarke), so seriously big money in its day. I can't remember if Ron submitted a transfer request on the back of their interest but Saints said "no". What has stuck in my mind ever since is how having rejected the bid, the matter was accepted by RD , and to their credit Man Utd, the player remaining with us without the type of public sulking you get nowadays, and agents, or Man U playing the saga out in the press. Sad thing to look at is how his goal tally diminished over the last few years, due perhaps to age or injury after being constantly clobbered. Possibly also due to lifestyle, as I have heard from older relatives how he was partial to the drink, and a few "lock ins", sometimes even before a match. Still, Ron remains one of our greatest ever players, and certainly merits his place on the banner.
  11. Better than confusing him with the disgraced former Labour politician of the same name though. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1424188/Moments-of-madness-that-ruined-Ron-Davies.html
  12. No 8 for me, was traditionally a striker . It must be an age thing having grown up with Channon there. 10 was more likely a midfielder.
  13. Who is actually saying this on Twitter though, anyone reliable ? I've seen the photo of Fonte and some bloke walking alongside him, but for all I know of Bruma it might be one of our juniors who simply hitched a lift with JF. Personally, I can't see if we were in discussions about the player, his agent would agree to him being walked around the pitch publicly like that.
  14. Perhaps he's just stopped off with Jose who is picking his boots up with both heading to OLd Trafford later: http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/manchester-united-transfer-news-paul-pogba-latest-a7169381.html
  15. I thought it was during the Lowe era when the club needed to count the pennies and couldn't justify running their own website. Perhaps your post was intended in jest (having just seen the smiley at the end - is so, I suspect Cortese's approved website woulds have been solid red background, with prominent gold lettering).
  16. Wasn't the current site something we were tied into withg the rest of the league at the time though ?
  17. See they do the IAMS Pet Food site, I'll have to ask my dog what she thinks of them then.
  18. Shame, although if we were considering him I suspect it was as an alernative to Hojberg rather than both.
  19. As said above he seems a knobhead, but I'd be reasonably happy to see us bring him in, if his head can be sorted for a season then he'd be a good signing, and one we could probably flog on at the end of the season for a healthy profit, which seems to fit the club's transfer poliocy.
  20. If its Mourinho & Mancs I can understand it, and aceept it (at C£15m rather than the £9m mentioned), but not to the Dugout innovators.
  21. I get the impression we're not interested in him. Shame.
  22. I won't be assured until Les tells us how well negotiations are going, or that the press speculation is unfounded. Or better still the OS has a photo of him signing a new contract. Perhaps wearing three large wrist watches that used to be the signal of a signing, representing the last three contracts he's signed in quick succession.
  23. Can't see Stoke being an ambitious move for him, just convenenient. Think Berahino is a bit of kn0bhead over the way he conducted himself last season, but giving him the benefit of the doubt you might accept he was just poorly advised. Would like to see us sign him though as I think we could really push his career on, a season with us and I'm sure he'd be back on Spurs, & Liverpool's radar.
  24. Pleased by this signing., I'd have been happy with McCarthy coming in a few years ago from Reading. His career has stalled in the last couple of years but no doubt Saints and Watson in particular can get him back on track.
  25. ie or no other offers... despite the WHU public link... Do you mean 1975 ? That's the last time I recalll a rb arriving on a free - Peter Rodrigues, and that turned out okay. Yes we need a good squad, but it seems we now have three rb's not sure we have a first choice though, but wait to see who picks up the mantle, should be Cedric.
