  1. boast
  2. Bayern Munich have worn r/w stripes before.
  3. Tuchel, and ??? Any idea who the other one was ?
  4. Coaching team, or say in the running of things might have been a sticking point, but I can't see the contract situation being so black and white. Sign for 3, we won't let you enter the last year winding it down so you'll only do 2 anyway. Unless he wanted a 2 year deal to p!ss off after one.
  5. On what I read about last nights performance against England U21's, no. Sounded like more of a direct replacement for Gardos from that.
  6. i read somewhere that Bristol Rovers had r/w stripes, black shorts as an away kit during the 1960's. (Hows that for an anorak fact ?).
  7. Apologies, I bow to your greater knowledge. (Why do they speak Spanish, but have Italian names though?)
  8. Google translate tells me that pilgrim is peregrino. But happy to call him Mo Pilgrim it it suits....
  9. Hope it works out better for this one than the last one then.
  10. Cheltenham Town
  11. I think some people are excited by the exotic sounding name, which no doubt looks good on a computer game. I'm not sure that Maurice Waterman after a single season and mid table finish would be so sought after. Hope Les and the Black Box have been more diligent in their research and this proves to be an inspired choice.
  12. Not so sure that is such good news as if the player does want to leave then it'd be good to have Chelsea drive the price up. I'd rather he ended up at Chelsea or City than Liverpool.
  13. That's just what we need, a manager talking warmly about his time at Anfield and how great it was. Hope he doesn't do that in the dressing room.
  14. Some might be past their best before date though. Sometimes easier to spot on a pasty. Whilst no manager is risk free, they do have a track record to analyse. Not convinced that one season in La Liga is so convincing.
  15. Thought Lee went at the end of the season before either Puel or Black arrived. Mooted on here that it followed a fall out with either Watson (GK coach) or one of the Koemans (probably no truth in it then).
  16. Ake is not really a like for like CB though, would prefer Christensen from what I've read of the two.
  17. Are you assuming De Boer was our preferred option then, or is Pellegrino suddenly in line for Palace ?
  18. Not mutually exclusive though. I'm probably in these camps to be honest. Disappointed we didn't snare Tuchel, even if had only been for a season or so as I think he might have elevated the club, and attracted some decent players. At the same time though we have to hope whoever else comes in does a good job, and one that is better than we might have expected had CP remained in place.
  19. Future England captain in the making obviously.
  20. They think they know every trick in the book for an orchestrated campaign. No surprise that some scouser urges someone to go on strike though is it? Hoping VVD has a little more self respect and dignity than to follow this 'advice'.
  21. Like you, expected someone lined up as a vast improvement, although that may not now be the case.Time will tell. Intrigued by your assertion of both Weizierl and Pellegrino on the limited info we have on both. I mentioned it in an earlier post, and you demonstrate it here - why is Pellegrino seen as a better option after a single year success at Alaves, than Weinzirl who had four good and steadily progressive seasons at Augsberg ? Not pointing this at you specifically, but interested in the observations.
  22. Let's reserve judgement shall we ? But of course it may head this way. (Toby, Koeman leaving, Puel, Fonte & the CB situation, doesn't bode well.)
  23. Interesting point about Weinzierl perhaps, don't know the answer. Howe - don't think he's been at a "big club" though to draw any conclusion. Are we big enough to worry about this though ? I don't know the relative standing of Schalke in Germany to make a comparison.
  24. No sign of the new owner coming over the hill on a white charger to fund anything though is there?
  25. This was posted the other day, and makes for a more favourable read. https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/europe-calling-how-markus-weinzierl-became-germanys-most-promising-coach It seems to me that he had four good seasons at Augsberg seeing progress there but eventually left for a bigger club, where it didn't work out for him with a few senior players sulking. His four years at Augsberg is perhaps a little more of a track record than Pelligrino's solitary year at Alaves. Can't make too much of a judgement over either Wenzierl or Pelligrino's style of play though.
