On the subject of loaneees, anyone know if Seagar has recovered from his injury from last season whilst at Walsall ?
-
Good to read that, the experience can only be good for him playing at that level week in week out. Will do him and his confidence the world of good and can only benefit us long term. Better than his wasted time at MK Dons last year. Hope to see him back for us next season firing on all cylinders.

Agree with the middle part of your post. The opening comment is debatable as Duckhunter points out. Your last point is just an old hobbyhorse of yours, worth letting go of it now though surely?

In a struggling side as well.

I suspect he could "come good" without sorting the fitness out, as he did on Thursday, but only for about 45 minutes to make an impact. First half though I thought his movement and involvement (as well as the goals) were good but he seemed pretty anonymous in the second. He really has earnt the David Connolly accolade from our L1 days, that "Austin is the best striker at the club bar none, if he can keep out of the treatment room " (and stay fit).

On the way down Brittania Road before the game we saw some massive old thug looking bloke, bald, tatooed on the shoulder, beer gut overhanging his shorts looking the worse for wear but still clutching a can of lager. It struck me that he could easily be an 'Inglander' in Mareseille or anywhere, every nation seems to have them. After the match he was sat on the wall, probably asleep, but looking comatose with his mate watching over him. You have to question why anyone would travel across a continent to get into that state.
-
Presumably you didn't intend this as a pun.
-
Please no, its dreadful. No point having a striped kit, if 50% of it isn't stripes. Might as well ditch the stripes altogether. (which suits me as I'd like a Rank Xerox return anyway.)

At the sort of level and sums involved here, I too would have expected discussions involving their representatives rather than face to face even at early stages. This is a multi-million pound business although some on here have suggested it is run like a B&B at times.
-
Not disagreeing with you that this might be the case, but I'd have thought this was a game for Clasie to start given his experience in European competition, and keep Hojberg for the (now) 'must win' home match v Swansea.

I thought Long was 1 in 4. Redmond, I didn't know his scoring record, but doesn't breed confidence does it?
-
No, not saying Reed is at fault for Long being sh!t yesterday, but the fact we're without better and more reliable goalscoring options after the closure of the summer window is something he should have addressed. Perhaps the post below yours will help make it a little clearer for you. Set out again below: We needed a proven striker but didn't get one. I feel a little sorry for Puel as he has to work with what he has inherited.
-
Perhaps it was a printing company I'm confusing it with then, purchased shortly before his death then wound up shortly after. I remember some of the doomsayers pointing out that this was our future too at the time.
-
Thought that had been wound up, but may be incorrect.
-
Not sure if that is aimed at my post above, but are you dissatisfied with the stability and ownership under the Liebherr's that you might wish it away on the wave of new investment we're seeing ? Whilst Leicester have secured sound investment we could easily end up with a Vincent Tan, Leeds or Watford type of owner. This is without resorting to a SISU.
-
The manager might not have been aware of Long's limitations in front of goal, but Reed most certainly should have been and addressed it. If we're relying on Longs goalscoring we're in trouble.
-
Totally agree. Yes I'd have liked a little more ambition in the transfer market, and to retain some our better players, but I don't see the change of owner as the solution for this at all. Compare the stability we've seen under the Liebherr's with what we might face with some unknown Chinese/Russian/Arab owner who fancies a quick dalliance with English Football (clubs you've mentioned).
-
Is she ? Or are you and others still managing to confuse her with the Liebherr company name ?
-
Between the halfway line and opposition penalty area I'd back Ruddock to beat Usain Bolt nine times out of ten if it was a race to headbutt Craig Short.

Not even Newport v Cheltenham tomorrow ?
-
It does seem a Kerry Packer does football' type of circus.Possibly some inevitability to this, but b0llocks to them, if the big clubs want to bugger off let them. Strikes me as a case of possibly "killing off the goose that lays the golden egg". Part of the attraction is the history of the fixture, will Liverpool really want to give up their derby for a seasonal match with Atletico Madrid for example ? Assuming either will be invited to take part of course.
-
Why not continue watching Saints in the English league ? Will it really be so disastrous not to have Man U etc in the fixture list ? Having said that I can seee the attraction of watching lower or non-league. Went to watch Plymouth v Cheltenham last week and thoroughly enjoyed it (apart from getting drenched).Non-league last season also gave some good entertainment in the Conference (as I still call it), prefer that 'honest' football to the Man U v Inter Galalactico etc.

Reminiscent of Branfoot : 'Southampton can't afford to live in the same street as Leeds United and our fans have to get used to that'

Perhaps thats a reference to Kelvin and Fonte. If so, the diagram loses a mark as its no longer factually correct if KD is no longer a player and should not be in the Player Pool still. Or could it be suggestions made by the next manager ahead of his actual appointment?. Discuss.
