Romeu like may others under Pellegrino has gone backwards this season and not looked a patch on the player he has been over the last two seasons., although still a better option than the pairing of Lemina (two **** ups, giving away possession and goals in consecutive league games) and Hojberg. But what is the position re Romeu and his bookings? Several people have suggested he might be being held back pending an amnesty after 9 bookings. Be interested if anyone can expand on that, what are the implications of another (10th) booking in the next match, when this amnesty ends, and the effect of another booking after that time.

Pellegrino remains in there as the influence of his poor coaching and management remains. Not sure any manager would find it easy to coach out his influence and fear factor when they get on the pitch.

This is the alarming aspect, no real desire or fight. Just about every other team in the mix look capable of rolling sleeves up and battling for the cause (WBA aside), but we have a bunch of precious cushioned pansies too easily brushed off the ball, and politely taking being second best. Romeu is probably the one with most drive but is currently on the bench.

I think Hoedt would be a good option sweeping up next to a bruiser CB but neither he nor Stephens look up to being the 'main man'. Hoedt's repertoire is made better by some decent long passes but not often enough, but his overall game is worryingly reduced by the number of times he seems to end up on his arse, sprawling on the ground at a critical time (think Watford away comes to mind). Unfortunately both Yoshida and Stephens are also error prone.
