I get the impression we're not interested in him. Shame.
-
I won't be assured until Les tells us how well negotiations are going, or that the press speculation is unfounded. Or better still the OS has a photo of him signing a new contract. Perhaps wearing three large wrist watches that used to be the signal of a signing, representing the last three contracts he's signed in quick succession.
-
Can't see Stoke being an ambitious move for him, just convenenient. Think Berahino is a bit of kn0bhead over the way he conducted himself last season, but giving him the benefit of the doubt you might accept he was just poorly advised. Would like to see us sign him though as I think we could really push his career on, a season with us and I'm sure he'd be back on Spurs, & Liverpool's radar.

ie or no other offers... despite the WHU public link... Do you mean 1975 ? That's the last time I recalll a rb arriving on a free - Peter Rodrigues, and that turned out okay. Yes we need a good squad, but it seems we now have three rb's not sure we have a first choice though, but wait to see who picks up the mantle, should be Cedric.
-
Swansea deny any bid though according to one link.

We've missed the boat I'm afraid. Just signed for Newport County after being released by Forest Green Rovers. Another fine example of us missing the boat because of Reed dithering. Don't know what he's playing at...

How do we create an environment where players want to stay?
Badger replied to eddie's topic in The Saints
Just realised how to keep everyone on board. Bring Cortese back, give him a role where he isn't accountable to the owner in terms of expenditure, and his charisma and spending on outrageous and unsustainable wages will keep everyone together for evermore. He can even enhance the squad with some Gaston's and a few more Osvaldo's from Serie A whilst we're at it. (Just gloss over the fact the only time he faced a large offer, Oxlade-Chamberlain left) -
Just NOT 'Saints' shirts though.
-
Have an intense dislike for spurs, but even through that I can't describe too many of that squad as 'plodders', although accept some are unproven. They look to have too many right backs there, perhaps we could relieve them of Trippier.
-
Might prove to be nearer a replacement for David Connolly though.

How do we create an environment where players want to stay?

Therein lies the answer I'm afraid. Years ago I hoped that we'd bring a 'generation' through that would want to stick together from youth team onwards, think Shearer, Le Tiss, Two Wallaces, Maddison, but they departed, Le Tiss aside of course. More recently Ox, JWP, Chambers, Shaw. If we can't breed the team spirit from within, then there's little chance of keeping the a swquad together. Man Utd did it, but even Beckham 'outgrew' what they could offer after a few years. -
Need someone as well as Tadic, but don't know enough of Kostic to comment whether he's suitable.
-
Aren't we linked with another Serbian winger, Kostic also playing in Germany as a replacement ?

Predictable response really: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3692465/Sheffield-Wednesday-facing-backlash-fans-club-releases-new-2016-17-kit.html

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
Badger replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Probably. But aren't we overdue one in the UK ? I'd be surprised if some of the communities in Luton for example are content to being upstaged by their brothers from Brussels, and in France. -
Not really though is it ? There have been worse: Cortese's two all red abortions The red with a white/black flash on the shoulder under Chris Nicholl The Pony tick effort
-
Probably a rumour based on Jack Schitt hearing a radio snippet that some bloke called Cameron was leaving somewhere, and he heard No 10 mentioned
-
This appointment seems a bit of a 'halfway house' to me. Does a football club need a go between as a buffer between players and management, or someone to act as 'personal tutor' for a new signing ? Not sure. I don't think the club would appoint a former payer as a 'gesture' or just as a meet and greeter. Kelvin is an intelligent and articulate bloke though, and knowing how we like to have a successiion plan in place for players, and managers , I wonder if this is a groooming to learn 'the football business' and be trained to take over when Les Reed retires perhaps ?
-
Gardos I 'd accept is still a bit of an unknown quantity so he may come good. Yoshida is a different issue and mistake prone to rely on over a series of matches.
-
And who covers for VVD in defence ? Yoshida , or Gardos perhaps. In which case there appears a slight flaw in this idea.

CONFIRMED: Graziano Pelle Joins Shandong Luneng - Undisclosed Fee (12-15M)
Badger replied to saint lard's topic in The Saints
Inevitable move really, just glad he didn't go to one of our league rivals, and especiaaly for a knockdown fee. Club have done well with the fee. Hope its invested with aview to bolstering our attacking options, aand a good CF. I know he had his critics but I liked Pelle. He had a thankless task in being seen to replace Rickie Lambert, and in truth he managed it quite well. I'll certainly be grateful to him for his part in our post 2014 'summer meltdown' and helping to stabilise the club, and see its league position actually improve. His contribution to that should not go unnoticed. Two memories of him, are the goal v QPR, and his celebration against Palace involving Kelvin in it. Good luck to him, and thanks. -
Would love to see Morgan return. But doubt it will happen as we're unlikely to shell out £20m on him, and doubt his pride would allow him to return.

If need arises, can we rely on Fonte and Cedric to take penalties ? Did Fonte take any for us ? probably our last penalty shoot out was in the JPT.
