Although I wouldn't trust the EU commision to deliver on an agreement, I have about the same - nil - trust or confidence in our own politicians to actually negotiate a deal and then tie it down securely. I have been a supporter of leaving 'the common market' since the 1970's, and certainly the more federalised European model since, but one great concern in leaving now, is whether our government , either Labour or Tory are capable of managing our affairs anymore. Perhaps we should just ask the Germans to do it for us, they have made a better job of managing their own industries and economy over the last 50 years than we have after all.

I share your reservations about Austin, main concern is whether his attitude and ego would fit into the camp to be honest. He's been kingpin wherever he's been to date, and if that wasn't so at St Mary's then I'm not sure he'd fit. That said, his goalscoring record is excellent and would be worth a punt. Interesting comparison, as Long is popular, hardworking and puts a tremendous effort in but with a poor goalscoring record, Austin on the other hand has a good goalscoring record but I'm not convinced that he'd match Longs work ethic. Pleased to be proven wrong if he joins. Kane ? His scoring is all the more impressive in a sh!t side but I doubt he'll go for £10m, I expect it'll be nearer £15m given his recent call up and interest in him.

Looking at the Southend side on the BBC pages, and wondered what has become of Lee Barnard ? Didn't he end up there ? But not on the bench even.

That seems pretty remarkable to me, glad we move in those elevated circles.

Lets not forget Rodriguez was at one stage likely to be training, possibly back in October, then December, New Year etc... Agree, think we should budget for not having FF available during 2015/16 season.
-
Ideally, would love him to stay. But if he isn't /can't stay for whatever reason, then I hope the decision is made swiftly and we can move on to our next major coup such as Virgil VD , or the bloke from Nants.

I saw reference to this the other day as well. At that sort of price, I'd happily see Clyne depart for £20m, and bring Trippierin for £3.5m. Can't see Trippier coming here to 'compete' with Clyne as he'd be guarenteed a starting place at say Stoke or one of the other clubs he's linked with.

If Swindon make it to the Championship then I suspect we may allow Stephens to continue his development there.

Sh!t !!!! That means 74 minutes to defend a three goal lead with Gazzaniga in goal.

On the subject of the shirt, it looks a pretty bland uninspiring effort at first, and probably does look too much of a Adidas hybrid Stoke job. I'm sure I won't be able to see the white collar from the seats we usually sit in so no point moaning about that, and it is red and white stripes, which we wanted two years ago when Mr C*ntese wanted to take us off on a tangent, so can't complain too much. That said, I hope for a Keeganesque return next year...or something distinctive.

I'm glad some of you have pointed out its JWP modelling the shirt, on seeing the hairstyle I thought it was the missing third Jedward twin.

Good video, just hope the kit is as well thought out.

What no press conference yet ? I was looking forward to the photo call, and seeing the creased tablecloth along with Mr Dead sat behind it.

A few weeks ago we were linked with Ben Amos , probably on a free as out of contract at MUFC, might be a decent gamble for No2, and bring Nyland in as the main act whilst waiting for FF to return. At the end of the season we move one on.
-
Question is, whether George Weah would really recommend any either ?
-
Saw an article online yesterday saying that Trippier has a buy out clause in his contract for £3.5m. If thats the case then I'd be pleased to see the disinterested Clyne depart for £20m and bring Trippier in for that.
-
Herr Klopp ?

Interesting read, but inconclusive really, other than that some transfers are successful, some are not. Bloke spent a lot of time to reach that conclusion.
-
I think we could replace Clyne with an adequate replacement ( Byram, or Trippier) and have some ££ to spend elsewhere. Schneiderlin is not easily replaced, Clasie may offer the passing rang,e possibly improve it, but Morgan offers a greater presence on the field.

Our experience with Forren supports your view. On the other ahnd though, our best GK since we've been at St Mary's in my view is Niemi from Finland, which is not exactly a smorgasboard * of footballing talent either. *just to keep a vaguely Scandinavian theme running

..or if Gallagher had not been injured for about eight months.Seagar is the interesting one though, seems to rated highly, but obviosly not considerred ready for the league, although I'd have thought he might have been worth a 10-15 minute gamble when we needed someone to poach a goal.

Valid point of course, although the defence does also look a bit more jittery with KD, or PG behind them.
