Shame we can't bring David Coles back.

Antonio appears to be having a bit of a sulk though, because Papa got his mits on the cup before him! No I'm sure he isn't,but he does look a bit glum compared to those around him.

Article update about him staying: http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Aston-Villa-insist-Martin-O-Neill-to-stay-amid-rumours-he-had-quit-and-deny-reports-of-a-bust-up-between-him-and-owner-Randy-Lerner-article374735.html

Looks good to me. Even happier they lost in injury time tonight.Clive Tildesley can now go on about "that night in Munich" for evermore.

It would not be a world cup without a serious injury beforehand though would it ? Perhaps the Sunday tabloids can come up with another scandal to rock the boat a couple of weeks before they fly to SA as they normally do.Maybe Rio can be falsely accused of stealing a bracelet after they arrive there.

good example, true but funny.

Ok, we have the "Only one Alan Pardew" chant, but seeing as we all love him so much and we need to show our support for him to Cortrese should we come up with a unique song, like we did with Rickie Lambert? Any suggestions?

Yes,I heard that.

I was amazed that from several blocks in the higher tier on the north west (549 for example) that the presentation area was not visible. The presentation of any cup or trophy is an essential part of the occasion and should be visible to all.People do not pay good money, more for an FA Cup or Champions League Final to watch that part of the proceedings on a screen. The presentation area was I believe visible from all seats at the old Wembley. It should have been an integral part of the design here too.Whoever designed it without that, and approved the design is an utter spastic in my view.

I'm in agreement to the above three comments, had Wenger been Carlisle's manager perhaps AP might have been less restrained. By the way,for the OP,ranting like a loon or being more animated on the touchline - Martin O'Neill,or even WGS to a point - does not make the manager any better, more impassioned or enthusiastic. Beckenbauer won the World Cup whilst retaining his composure throughout;Martin Allen has hastened Cheltenham's demise amidst great histrionics (on and off the pitch).

He had a family in excess of 44,000 with him on Sunday.

That was certainly a marvellous sight wasn't it,displaying a genuine human side to the man ? Here we have a billionaire, who could have employed a team of photographers, but instead pops a camera out of his pocket,or Frau Liebherr's handbag perhaps, to take his own private photos of his team receiving the cup.

A very difficult choice from some excellent individual performances. Harding,Lambert and Antonio were obvious contenders. However for me it would have to be Fonte.Despite the final scoreline,we looked a little shaky - especially at the back - in the opening 5-10 minutes but Fonte stood firm and gave an assured performance appearing totally in control of everything that came near him. That start gave us the platform to build the result on so Fonte for me. Just a shame we didn't hear the 'Jose Fonte baby,' Human League song in recognition.

He seems sure he'll still be manager next season and in three years says he will be saints manager challenging for the Premiership. Good news! Sorry if already posted. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/8592090.stm

On a tube and it suddenly goes quiet. Some shouts "cheer up we just won the ****ing cup" and everyone starts laughing.

I was definitely 'in that number' as well. I thought the Carlisle selection of One Step Beyond a bit bizarre, but can't imagine anything worse than One Vision being blasted out in our moment of glory.
