ABK & Bednarek have formed a far better partnership than I thought possible. Bednarek has actually done ok since returning and has also shown some spirit, I suspect had he been a fresh signing from Villa people would give it a qualified tick in the plus column. Personally, I hope he stays if we’re in the championship.

Its been around years. I was shown how to “make a back” by an old pro when I played in the same side as him during the early 80’s. He said it was a great way to win free kicks, before adding “don’t do it in the box, because they never give a penalty for it”. I used to fall on the ball if I could as well, that almost always gained a free kick. It’s something old fashioned centre forwards used to do all the time, a centre half could get hurt, but as they spent most of the game trying to maim you, I never really thought about it too much. My lad plays in the Wessex League, and even at that level I don’t see many centre forwards using their bodies nowadays. Actually, I don’t see many centre forwards nowadays, they’re all 10’s and false 9’s.

Exactly this. Its pretty remarkable that we’ve got one point out of 12 and are still only 4 points adrift. Leicester v Leeds Tuesday and obviously both can’t win that one, followed by Everton v Leicester next weekend. Means nothing if we can’t beat Bournemouth, but who knows what pressure will do to other sides.

Forest fans I know are also moaning about Benali favouring us, and don’t get me started about Brighton supporters thoughts on Doddsy.

He is attitude has been spot on since his return. As for the incident, it is something that needs stamping out. It’s never really punished in any circumstances, so it’s not a big club/small club thing. It’s an English football thing, we just don’t punish those challenges.

I know from somebody close to Jones that they had concerns about his fitness levels/niggles back in Jan/Feb. Can’t remember the exact incident, but he was left out or substituted at a crucial time and I asked about it. It wasn’t a “he’s not fit” criticism, more along the lines of managing him when he’s knackered.
