  1. The House of Lords should be the chamber that reflects the electorate as a whole. That’s the real scandal, not FPTP. It’s clearly a delicate balancing act to have an elected second chamber that is secondary to the commons, but that’s the broken part of the system.
  2. I happen to believe the present system gives us the best Governance and ensures the most equality for the whole of the uk. Local people vote for somebody to represent their interests at Westminster. It’s a principle that goes back years and has served us well. If that resulted in less Brexit party MP’s, so be it. I’m sure you and others would be attacking me if I wanted PR just to ensure Nigel got a Westminster seat. No area of the UK wanted him to represent them, and whilst I think they’re wrong, its their decision to make.
  3. More areas of the country wanted a Tory to represent them. I know you lefties only like the system when it produces the result you want, but the Lib Dem’s had the opportunity to propose something different and blew it.
  4. That’s pony (no surprise it is The Guardian after all ). There’s half a dozen that’ll attract interest if they became available, at least as many as Fulham
  5. No you didn’t. You tried to claim that the “Telegraph etc” report Labour reshuffles differently. The fact The Guardian was amongst the most damning seems to have escaped you. Unless they’re being , drip fed by a Tory PR machine working overtime.
  6. If only our coaching staff were as knowledgeable as you and Whitey. To think they watch video after video, see him game after game, day in day out in training and they can’t see what you 2 can. Your coaching talents are wasted.
  7. You don’t half come out with some old pony.
  8. Pony It can’t be both. He could of got tighter, but ball watching , that’s rubbish. If anyone was ball watching it was JV, who didn’t seem to appreciate where Mane was. A right footed 4th choice centre half at left back up against one of the worlds best players stands off a bit (probably worried about getting skinned) and you jump on his back. Pathetic.
  9. What a load of old pony, he did ok.
  10. Fuck me, I know Jose does it, but the charity shield has never been considered a proper trophy. They’ll be counting these Asian cup pre season things soon.
  11. Agreed. I read this morning about a “cack-handed political management of the past 48 hours”. Claims that “long running tensions” have existed between Raynor & Starmer, that she refused a new position and he was forced to back down, and even that she “dressed inappropriately” during a visit to Hartlepool. I also read that “Starmers botched attempt to sideline Rayner had increased the chances he could face a leadership challenge in the coming months”. Fucking last time I read that Tory rag, The Guardian.
  12. That’s 2 games running where we actually looked like a team with a tactical plan and a coherent strategy. Interestingly, the players looked more engaged as well. Be interesting to see how he approaches the palace game as they won’t come at us. I like Armstrong in the centre so hope he can flex his tactics and play 3 in the centre when OR is fit (perhaps OR sitting in front of centre halves with Prowse and Armstrong further forward.
  13. Joe Haines who worked for Wilson hit the nail on the head in the paper this morning, not that any lefties on here will agree, they’ve still got their heads firmly in the sand alongside the brothers. “A party under a shiny, new forensically intelligent leader who was going to be a herald of change. Or so we thought. Well, that’s not how voters up and down the country, north and south, east and west – and especially in Hartlepool – saw Sir Keir Starmer on Thursday. They saw a man who served faithfully in Jeremy Corbyn’s Shadow Cabinet, who fought for another Brexit referendum until he was the last politician standing and who chose an anti-Brexit Remainer to defend one of the most pro-Brexit seats in the country. They weren’t interested in the price of Johnson’s wallpaper. They wanted to know when they’ll get a house of their own. And put up wallpaper of their own. For years, his circle and many others in the party have believed that life began in London and that the ‘Northern thickos’ could be relied upon to vote Labour come Hell or high water. The so-called ‘Red Wall’ of the North, with its huge Labour majorities, was a patronising myth. Scotland should have taught Labour that. The once-impregnable ‘tartan wall’ didn’t exist, either. Labour’s greatest danger now is that it will shrug off Thursday’s elections as a Covid bounce, that it will resume its search for sleaze, continue to say that everything the Government does is too little, too late and hope that something will turn up. The truth is that the Labour Party has lost its roots. Hartlepool was a chance to replant some of them and it wasn’t taken.“
  14. I thought Obafemi did more in his short appearance than Che did the whole game yesterday. It’s early days but if ha can train on and stay fit next season, could well take Adams place as “support striker”
  15. Yes, After suffering a humiliating defeat in a northern working class seat, Sir Kier responds by sacking a high profile northern working class women. ITV reporting that it’s a bodged reshuffle that’s gone wrong. Perhaps they need someone more forensic in charge and get these things right.
  16. I thought we played pretty well. We looked like we had a game plan and a coherent strategy, something we’ve lacked lately. We were set up properly and defensively we were good. Far far better than some of the shitshows we’ve seen this year. That’s the way to play against top sides, not the basket ball game we tried against City. Back 4 and keeper played ok, maybe could have done better with first goal, but otherwise they did ok. Stephens again did ok. I know he’s a whipping boy, but I can’t see many 4th choice centre halves in a bottom half team, doing as well at full back. Armstrong was excellent in midfield, I really like him in the middle. He carries the ball, something OR and Prowse don’t do. Prowse had his best game for a while. Tella, did ok for a raw nipper. Still a long way to go, but he’s got something. Now to the disappointments. Redmond in the second half, Walcott and Adams. I also thought Obafemi looked like a proper striker when he came on. Only a short cameo, but he looked sharp with decent positional sense. All in all, we probably didn’t quite do enough to deserve a point. But with a bit of luck we could of got one.
  17. Why are we fannying around after the throw in. In the famous words “can’t we just fucking knock it”.
  18. Pretty decent half, certainly didn’t let ourselves down and looked like a proper team. With a bit of luck we could be level. Redmond having one of his better games. Let’s hang on in there and maybe pinch an equaliser rather than go hung ho.
  19. Yeah, that’s really going to win back The Red Wall. Green pony, it’s what people in Hartlepool & Bolsover are crying out for.
  20. Add in the fact that the bloke given the captaincy instead is clearly not captain material, something doesn’t add up. Looking from the outside his attitude seems fine when things are going well, but not when we’re up against it or he’s unhappy. Not great behaviour for somebody not playing week in week out, so I would question whether this “keep him as a back up” line is a goer.
  21. Oh dear Rooney...
