We need us and Stoke only needing a point or Stoke safe last day. My nerves aren't going to take Stoke bunging long throws and piling corners and free kicks into our box as the desperately search for a winner. A nice little re run of the Spurs game from 1978 will do me.

My lad goes to school with "all kinds of people", implying that Grammar Schools are somehow for the elite or posh kids is just not true. There are kids in his school from local council estates and with poorer background. The only thing missing is girls, but they do a lot with the local girls Grammar. We only made him take the test because the school in our catchment is dire. I was surprised how normal the school and the pupils are. Just because they wear a blazer does not make it some sort of Southern Bullington Club. At the end of the day we have 2 choices in Poole, the local comprehensive or you can put your kid into the Grammar test, nobody forces you to take the test. I think it's unfair that there are kids in other areas that don't get this choice.

? Their education policy has a hell of a lot of merit to it. My lad goes to a Grammar school and he goes with all sorts of diverse people. Hundreds of kids from all backgrounds took the test, the 2 grammars in this catchment are extremely popular, particulary with the poor. It is the middle classes who sniff and them and don't want the kids to go, my sister being one of them. She finds the whole thing wrong and wouldn't let her kids sit the entrance exam. However, she's pretty wealthy, her kids will be ok. For the poor the Grammar maybe the only chance they get to better themselves. I don't know enough about Health to comment on what the effect of their policies will be. But, I'm sure it cant be any worse than the Chuckle Brothers "from me to you" policy of the past 30 years. Flat taxes are worth looking at. It's about tax take, not tax rates. If flat takes bring more money in, then surely that's worth persuading. Tax rates for the wealthy are set for political reasons or punishment at present. A % is a % and therefore a bloke earning 100k WILL pay more into society than a bloke on the minimum wage. I've never understood the moral argument that because you are good at your job and earn a lot you should pay a higher % of your wages into the Government. Surely it's fairer in the strict meaning of the word "fair" that people pay exactly the same %, or does "fairness" not extend to people earning a lot? The other thing I agree with is merging tax and NI, it all goes into the same pot and is just a con trick on the British people, the suggestion that the 10% (or what ever it is) is some sort of Insurance is laughable. Tax cuts will be funded by not paying the millions into the EU. In their eyes one of the reasons for withdrawal is to save money, so it's entirely joined up thinking to use this to fund tax cuts. I agree with you about smoking ban, as a non smoker it's great to come home and not smell of fags (the ciggie type, I'll come onto gay marriage in a min). However , if you are a party that believes in individual choice and freedom then having government legislate what you can and cant do in your own business seems wrong. Smoking is entirely legal and I would have much preferred pubs that want to let people smoke, do so and I'll just go to one that doesn't allow it. Gay marriage, their views are the same as a lot of the population of UK. The government itself allow church to opt out of it, so they are discriminating against gays themselves. One thing I do find rather odd is this. When asked about policies for the next Parliament Labour MP's say "it's too early to say" or "we are working on that". Yet when interviewed Farage is expected to tell us all his polices for 2015 and keeps getting quoted his 2010 manifesto. His 2010 manifesto is irrelevant, they will not be fighting the 2015 election on it. The only parties that need to stand by their 2010 manifesto are the ones in power. You know, like no tuition fees!!!!!

I'm worried about it, you seem to be enjoying it.

I thought the support was great. I was amazes just how terrible Spurs support was, I felt they were a bit embarrassed about singing OWTS as they would have got drowned out as well as laughed at. My little lad was disappointed with the atmosphere at Aresnal and Liverpool and I told him that Spurs would be different, they weren't they were just as bad. Away support at SMS has been pretty decent but these Premiership clubs home support is awful. We're going to have to award ourselves the "Bestest" tag soon, my mate who is a Spurs supporter texted "unlucky today, but it's about 3 points . Great support". One tiny little gripe. The support was fantastic even at the final whistle, I think everyone acknowledged the fantastic effort the players put in. I know they were disappointed, but felt the players and MP could have been a bit more acknowledging of that support.

I didn't hear anyone singing any such nonsense at the ground. There was a group of about 4 blokes singing it on the over ground from Liverpool street to WHL.

Last week I posted 8 results that were extremely reasonable and sensible, 8 results that would lead to us going into the last day one point out of the relegation places and one point above Wigan. I was told that this didn't happen in football, that these results, although reasonable, together were less likely than me being run over by a bus driven by Elvis. I needed to "get a grip" and stop wetting my knickers. We were safe as Carol Vorderman had worked out that we had a 1% chance of going down . The resident Lawro's told us that Wigan had 2 points from 4 games , so no way they would get 6 from the next 3. West Brom were so good against us, that they would beat Wigan and then beat Norwich . So far half the results have come in, the remainder are Newcastle to beat QPR Wigan to beat Swansea Norwich to beat WBA and us to lose at Sunderland. That will take it to the last day. The problem with the last day is we've thrown in the occasional shocking performance QPR, West Brom, we could get a dodgy reffing decision early on, or Stoke could need something themselves. We needed 3 points from West Ham, Swansea, West Brom and Spurs to be pretty confident that Villa and Wigan would both be below us last day. We only got 2 and now Villa can lose to Wigan and they can both end up above us. Some of us posted last week that anyone who thought we were safe was deluded, they are doubly so after yesterday.

There's two people I would have liked to have heard from today. The leftie green leader who on weds said "there's one thing certain Thursday, we'll end up with more councillors than Ukip". So sure was she that she bet Andrew Neil £5. And of course the Ukip recruiting Sargent Ken " clown" Clarke. Highlight of the day was Simon Hughes saying forget about share of the vote, lib/dems got more councillors than Ukip . The ridiculous sight of the old hipercrite using fptp to defend the liberals performance was a sight to see. All day long farage wiped the floor with them, from saying he wanted Ken Clarke to speak at Ukip's party conference to his performance on BBC need where ed davey , the lab bloke chuka and Chris grayling were taken to the cleaners.

How can you get supporters out, does Farage need to stand at the polling station vetting everyone? I presume you have more information about their representatives than the papers and Tories. They found 2 or 3 out of thousands, you said it is a "significant portion". How do you know this, what evidence have you got? You say people need to be careful of their use of "open door", I think you should be careful when you mislead people by saying "significant portion".
-
Who is saying that? You said there was no open door policy, there is for EU citizens. Every party sets limits for non EU immigration, are they racist parties?
-
So there is an "open door" policy for the 503 million people in the EU?
-
Oh ok, so there's a limit to the number of EU citizens that can come and live in the UK then?
-
What on earth is racist about wanting to limit immigration, do you support an open door policy or do you believe there is a limit? If you notice I posted a "straight" in/out referendum. The tory "pledge" is not straight. It relies on 2 things. 1; they form the next Govt alone and 2; they can renegotiate some powers back from Brussels (which isn't going to happen). It is not a serious pledge it is kicking it into the long grass. It is a pledge that is designed to con the British people AGAIN.
-
Until we get a straight in/out vote on Europe UKIP aren't going anywhere. The establishment have had a "we know best " attitude towards Europe and that policy has driven people into the arms of UKIP. Perhaps when they top the European elections next year the establishment may think again and listen to the will of the people. Anyone who saw Farage on "This week" last night will know exactly what a decent sort of bloke he is, compare him to the clones that run and are at the top of the 3 major parties.
-
The reason Ukip are surging at the moment is very simple, it is fear. No, not the fear of johnny foreginer that pushes people to vote for an anti immigration party, but fear displayed by the establishment and the 3 major parties. Its the fear that us peasants may not "understand" the EU and its wonderful contribution to British life and vote to leave their cosy little club. If all 3 parties committed to a straight forward in/out referendum then Nigel's fox is shot . They would still pick up a few protest votes, but the main body of their support would have no reason to vote Ukip. The establishment won't do it because they fear withdrawal from EU more than they fear Ukip. They know that fptp will exclude them from Westminster so they can continue to ignore us plebs even when Ukip top next years European elections.

Spot on. There is also a massive difference between this and a crime that was reported 47 years ago. Had one of these women gone to the police in 1967 and said " i was raped" then the police would take a statement, would have taken her clothes ECT, i don't know if they had rape kits in those days, but maybe would have photographed brusies and the like. Maybe they didn't have enough to charge someone, but advances in DNA or maybe a witness came forward, then i can see no reason why charges can't be brought 47 years down the line. However, to report a crime 47 years and then expect the accused to get a fair trial is just bonkers. The other thing that gets go me about it is this. Sex offenders like Saville and the like spend a life time doing it. This other guys Ken Barlow, Clifford ECT happened years ago, did they stop abusing or could the police fond no latter victims, seems strange if nobody came forward from the modern era when abuse was more acknowledged. One thing for sure abusers just don't suddenly stop. What i am uncomfortable with is that because of the screw up with Saville the police are fishing, throwing names in tbe ring to see if any victims come forward. There have been plenty of women used and abused, particulary in the later part of the last century. When i see what's not acceptable now and what is a crime, i cam honestly say i sailed very close to the wind when a testosterone filled young man. Since having my daughter I've thought about my past and some of the awful way i treated some girls. I've often wondered how they felt after being treated like a piece of meat and those feelings must be compounded if the user was a famous guy or a hero. I never ever did anything that was illigal then , but stupid things like walking into a bar with my "conquests" knickers on my head to the cheers of my mates. At the time I thought " sluts own fault for putting out behind the pub" . We used to have pig of the night competitions to see who could bang the ugliest one. All sorts of sheite like that demean and humilate women, but are not illigal. Maybe these guys used their fame, lied to these girls, told them to **** off, after seducing them , maybe that's it. Maybe they really do think they were raped, some seduction moves from that era are borderline nowadays, remember you could legally rape your wife back then, so it wasn't a particularly enlightened time. But i can't see how anyone can get a fair trial so long after the event or alledged event.

Top five Gashton Ramirez Performances?
Lord Duckhunter replied to Barry Sanchez's topic in The Saints
Why does he take sheite corners and free kicks if he's got such a belting left foot. Why does he keep giving the ball away if he's got such great dribbling skills. He had got a decent first touch and loads of skill, but so has Mr woo. I personally don't think he's got the mental strength or desire to impose himself on the English game. I hope im proved wrong and its not a witchhunt. Just my opinion of our record signing. -
Had a pint with a mate of mine last night who is a member of remedy oak. Reckons redknapp was up there last week going on about a bet he had regarding all 4 division winners, said he was just waiting for boscombe and him and his mate would share £45,000. If true , looks like twitchy had a really bad weekend.

They did play well at our place as they also did at Anfield. Unfortunately, bearing in mind they play Wigan and Norwich, they are capable of some stinkers. They lost to Reading and until they beat us, had won 1 away game in about 8.
-
Only Wigan below us need to win more than one game. If we lose the next two tough away games then in my opinion we'll need a point from stoke. Last day anything can happen and im sure people wont quite be so sure we are safe then. Newcastle will beat qpr Villa could well beat Norwich Wigan could win 3 out of their 4 Norwich could beat a west brom side that's won 2 away games in 9 and lost at reading. Look at those fixtures is it that far fetched? Is us losing our next 2 that far fetched? Had villa lost Monday they would have needed to beat Norwich and get a point at least from Chelsea to relegate us, or Wigan would have needed to beat Arsenal. Now Wigan can lose to arsenal, villa can lose to Chelsea and it will still go to the last day. One point at home to west ham and west brom is a **** poor return and has put the pressure back on us, I just hope mp isn't as complacent as some on here.
-
The problem will be increased by our lack of defensive cover out wide midfield. Neither Adam or Puncheon offer much cover to the full back, so any newbie or player out of position could get really exposed. Guly does a half decent job out there but he's injured and JRod works hard, but that's it.
-
Their last 4 were tougher than their next 4. Away at Man C, West Ham, QPR, and then home to Spurs is harder than West Brom, Swansea, Arsenal and Villa. Here's 5 results in a row from end of March to April last year that led them to safety . Liverpool 1 – 2 Wigan Athletic Wigan Athletic 2 – 0 Stoke City Chelsea 2 – 1 Wigan Athletic Wigan Athletic 1 – 0 Manchester United Arsenal 1 – 2 Wigan Athletic Anyone who underestimates Wigan has their head in the sand. How many other sides looked at us and thought "we're safe Southampton wont pick up enough points" in the 1990's . Sheffield Utd have gone down twice when only needing draws in their last game, so it does happen.
-
You can quote all the %'s in the world, but the simple fact is if Villa win on Sat and we lose (entirely possible 2 results) we'll be below Villa. Will Villa fans be sat thinking "we're safe", will the BBC report say Villa are now safe? Wigan's next 2 are Swansea and West Brom, hard but winnable from a team that beat Man utd and other top sides in their escapes the last couple of years. Of course Norwich will still be below us, but is it possible for them to beat WBA at home? I'd say it was. Sat's win meant they've won 2 away games in 9 and in that was a defeat at Reading. Any team that can lose at Reading are quite capable of getting beat at Norwich. Throw into the mix Newcastle playing QPR,Sunderland having 2 winnable home games, and that's why I'm slightly uneasy about the run in . A perfectly reasonable set of results could mean it going to the last day, would you still be so confident then? Will you be confident and quoting %'s when we're 1 ahead of Wigan and below everyone else. So the reason I felt that we really needed Villa to lose was that I cant see Wigan being above us before the last day, so if Villa aren't either we cant go down. Yesterdays result moved that likelihood further away than the 0.112% or whatever other nonsense %'s you want to quote.
-
they are 7 points behind and I can see them beating Swansea, west brom and villa. We really needed villa to lose last night as they both can't win the shootout at the end of the season. Really need Norwich to do them sat, because unless they get a point from Chelsea or Wigan get a point from arsenal we can all enjoy last day. Of course we could get something from spurs or Sunderland, but I've got a real bad feeling about them
-
Wigan's game in hand is Swansea at home, not man c. Wigan are capable of stringing results together and getting out of this. Newcastle play qpr. pretty much a gimmie Sunderland have stoke and us at home, however bad they were tonight can you really see them losing both of them. They played well at Chelsea, beat everton and Newcastle, last night could have been a blip. The thread was about the best result for Southampton tonight and villa winning was not it. If they win sat it drops norwich right in it, but it takes away the villa/wigan last day safety net we had. Villa could lose that and still finish above us.
