You're right Robsk, the ones who remain on the forum aren't a loss to the forum. In fact I'd go for 100%
-
You are so, so wrong.

People saying zee annoys me far less than people saying haitch instead of aitch.

Kip was single handedly keeping this site vaguely interesting. Now all we are likely to get are the dull, spasticky ****e from the likes of S13, Saint Stevo, StuRomseysaint and I'm no sinner.

Sorry, should've been clearer. I wasn't really talking about JP with that comment. I was just illustrating past attitudes that demonstrated how people talk about time needed for real improvement and then panic if things don't improve after a month or two.
-
No, he's right. Everyone would agree that a completely new team with players who are young and inexperienced would start very badly but hopefully develop as the season goes on, maybe managing to stay up. Yet as soon as this bad start happens eveybody panics. Surely it was inevitable? As Adrians said, we are hoping for something in the long term (true, it may not happen) so why react to our early results as if it's hopeless. But it's been that way on this board as long as I can remember. Everybody agreeing that a manager will need a while to settle in, then calling for his head within a month or two.

I agree, what about someone like Burley or Redknapp? They'd sort us out in no time. Why do people keep talking about the experiment not working? This isn't an experiment. We are in financial problems and need to play our kids. Even the more experienced players like John and Skacel will be on hefty bonuses which makes it expensive for us to play them. You do realise that Portvliet/Lowe would probably love to buy top players if we could afford them don't you? They haven't just decided to go for a cheap option, they're following the only real option there is. Hardly an experiment.

I quite like him but am getting a bit bored of him. He's not as intelligent or well read as he first appears and I have heard him say that he's just very good at learning the relevant quotes to make it sound like he's read things or understands things. This becomes pretty clear when he tries to go into more depth and is clearly clueless. He's basically playing a role but doing it very well.

****ing hell, we have the textbook example of a team that needs time to settle in and build experience. How can anyone have expected us to start well? Have you heard nothing about our situation? We have been forced to go with inexperienced youngsters. They're like a more lightweight and green but more motivated and probably more talented version of what we had last year and they were hopeless and dull to watch. We will probably survive but it'll be a tough season. That's pretty much how it is for a team in financial trouble. You should expect us to try to survive this season and have a more experienced and settled team next year. This isn't too shocking, we were on the verge of this for most of the nineties, we fielded some awful players/teams and were often very lucky to avoid the drop. We wouldn't have gone back up easily then either.
-
I actually really like the way we are trying to play and hope we don't give up on it. However, it is a bit like watching a very talented lightweight boxer fighting in the middleweight division. Even the journeymen are likely to beat us. But as they get experience and get used to what to expect, I can see this team eventually coming good. Our main problems seem to be defensive organisation and finishing. we're certainly not as bad as our results make us look.

Obvious red, can't see any reason for doubt. Imagine if one of ours was scythed down on the ball like that.

One of the truly great songwriting partnerships.

Kip is indeed stuck in a spiral of addiction. He has shot up the spiral but gravity will inevitably slowly drag him to the very bottom. All this win has done has made it more certain that he will give more of what he has, trying to get the next big win. Eventually his future wife will also become a victim and either suffer for her love, or leave him. You will spend the rest of your life chasing after elusive highs like this. It will all be a bit like Requiem For a Dream, you see if it won't. Anyway, well done.

My Heart will go ond and on What does ond even mean?

I like Shawshank but it's not my favourite, that's It's a Wonderful Life. The ridiculous thing is that Shawshank and Pulp Fiction were released in the same year, but what film won the oscar that year? Forest ****ing Gump!

I am playing CM 99-00. I don't think it ever got much better. -
9 songs is a ****ing awful film. If you want vivid sex scenes, watch porn, otherwise what does this film have to offer? I saw Wanted, thought for a short while it was going to be surprisingly good, it wasn't. I also saw The Strangers and really couldn't see the point of it. It had nothing to offer in the way of scares, tension or social commentary. Rubbish. Cloverfield was great fun.

This is the first thread in ages I've found entertaining enough to read through and all the work of one rambling buffoon. Kippy is skill but Basingstoke smells of wee.

Am I the only person who was actually a bit disappointed by Dr Strangelove?

The Deer Hunter is a dull and IMO over-rated film. Although I'm not a big Oliver Stone fan, I think I'd go for Platoon, just beating Apocalypse now. The Sgt Elias scene just pipping Napalm in the morning.

The big problem with paedophilia is it's a condition that can never be cured or realistically controlled. So how to deal with them long term?

Being a taliban is a mental illness and we should be working to help these perverts, not shooting them.

With the buzz of excitement the young players have brought, you have to hope that Lancashire gets a chance to prove himself and is a regular starter by the end of the season. I'm sure with Killer's knee, he'll get his chance to stake a claim soon.
