  1. Surely not, when he just called someone else out for insult throwing? That would indicate quite a lack of self awareness.
  2. That's not just the tories though. I'd say most parties are now defining their image on where they stand on Brexit, reluctantly in some cases, but it's the issue of the day.
  3. How can you know it's 48% thwarting the brexit opportunities so far? I know of lots of the 52% who didn't want no deal and didn't like the deals offered. I have no idea of the overall proportions, but I don't think you can be sure. We already know that even Boris has been part of the group blocking Brexit at some time. I would suggest there has yet to be a solution offered that all of the 52% would accept. It doesn't take much for it to be the majority of the population wanting to thwart Brexit and I wouldn't be surprised if that has been a majority view. The 52% should indeed get their Brexit, but it's not just the 48% blocking it so far.
  4. Here in Norway it's always automatically a question of which coalition you're going to have. Right now it is indeed the Conservative party and their far right allies. The greens remain very much a minority party. Another party who benefitted were the Christian party, who used the larger party's need for the coalition to insist that their man became prime minister, a bit like having Farage in power now in a Tory/UKIP coalition. Or Arlene Foster. I would actually vote Conservative here at the moment if they weren't in bed with the far right, due to some key policies.
  5. It's all pointless. Not one of the threads on here matters or has a good reason for existing at all. Nobody ever changed their minds because of a political comment here. No team selection was ever affected by a thread here. We never bought a player because of the HCDAJFU threads. No player ever changed his game because of comments on here. Why do we bother writing anything here? It's a mildly interesting distraction sometimes, but it's all pointless.
  6. It's easy to knock FPTP when you feel it's holding back representation of a party you support, but without it, their would probably be quite a large extreme right element in parliament now and would have been for some time. In fact, I would guess that we would be quite a few years into a coalition between the conservatives and UKIP or similar.
  7. Excellent! This is the kind of simplicity I was looking for
  8. People who say "myself" instead of "I" or "me". People who say haitch (yes, it does need repeating). Expensive earphones with small rubber parts that fall off, rendering the whole thing unusable. Fat people who do ridiculously ineffective things to look better, instead of the obvious exercising several times a week or eating sensibly (eg women with fake nails and stupid eyelashes, fat men in designer clothes) People who aren't cockney, but think it adds something to their character if they use dated cockney rhyming slang.
  9. Can't agree. Nearly all of the players who were actually good were sold. Most of our squad have never been much more than competent, which we started to see as good in comparison to the poor performances we got used to. Morgan and Wanyama were good, Romeu, PEH and JWP were surely never more than competent. Mane and Lambert were good, Long has never exceeded competent in his career, Lallana and Tadic were good, Redmond was competent for a while.
  10. Let's turn a complicated, variable situation into something far too over-simplified, just because this is the internet. As barely an armchair fan, I find the match comments on here so variable in opinion from week to week, I don't know what's what anymore. (Is Romeu our only decent midfielder or is he a waste of space?) Rate all or some of our players as simply good, competent or poor over-all. (as in a genuinely good player, a player who can do a reasonable job at this level, a player who just isn't good enough to play PL football)
  11. As long as we don't start banging on about loyalty, that's the biggest hypocrisy ever, coming from football fans.
  12. Left back is the real sign of how much we've lost our way. In the last twenty years we've brought through three international quality players in that position, Bale, Bridge and Shaw. When we needed someone who could just do a job or be a short term replacement, we could send in Mills, Targett or McQueen. Getting a decent replacement from another club? Le Saux and Bertrand were proven to have some class and competence. Harding was great when we needed someone at the lower levels too. Now we'd rather play no proper left back than even look at what's coming through the system.
  13. Haha, it's me getting tired of reading that silly, lazy comment like it carries any weight at all. Both sides here are capable of similar lazy tactics, but that one stands out as particularly weak.
  14. What a load of pony.
  15. I guess for balance you'd have to think about foreign signings that were a success: Claus, Killer, Niemi, Pelle, Pahars, Fernandes, Anders, Fonte, Jaidi, Morgan, Wanyama, Boruc, Lovren, Virgil, Tadic, Alderweireld, Mane, Cedric Plus those who did a job: Jos, Do Prado, Waigo, Yoshida, Long, Romeu, PEH Then you have to also look at our crappy domestic signings:Austin, Fox, Forecast, Lee Holmes, Ryan Dickson, Pulis, Molyneux, There are a few unfair comparisons in there, but we've not always done so badly out of buying from abroad and not always unearthed gems buying British.
  16. Do we have a single player now that you would expect to play well? I haven't seen much football at all this season, but from what I see here: Romeu is our only decent midfielder one week, hopeless the next. Adam deserves a chance/should never be selected again Yoshida is the only one with passion/shouldn't be near the first team Boufal is our only good player/isn't fit to wear the shirt Danso needs to play/is laughably inept at this level Valery is an exciting young player who creates stuff/is a hopeless liability Bertrand is our only class player/never puts in a shift anymore Pretty much all of those players have been announced as needing to be played and should never be playing. I don't think I've seen much criticism of Ings this season, that's something. In 2005 we were actually very unlucky to draw a few key matches and that team could have stayed up with a bit more discipline. Goals at the death against Middlesboro, Everton and Arsenal seem to stand out.
  17. Absolutely right. I do believe that many here actually swallow the **** they serve up though. "Leave" used every dirty trick in the book to get their result, "Remain" will use every dirty trick in the book to stop it going through. There's no good guys or bad guys here. Boris tried to use sneaky methods to get brexit through, Bercow used sneaky methods to stop him getting away with it. Both sides cry foul, neither side saw the foul by their own player and it goes on. Corbyn is a divisive liability and a charisma vacuum. Johnson is a scumbag only interested in his own legacy. The libdems only have themselves to blame for not being taken seriously as challengers. Leave is blatantly a bad decision. Remain lost the referendum and need to back a deal. It's enough to make you wish you emigrated years ago
  18. I think it's disgraceful when (opponent official's name here) bent/broke the rules/law or lied to further their agenda. However, I am absolutley fine with (official I agree with) bending/ breaking the law or being dishonest. I also utterly believe this gives my side has the moral high ground.
  19. My questionwas hypothetical. Calm down. I actually believe they should have accepted the deal.
  20. Nothing wrong with that answer. Interesting to read. Thanks for elaborating.
  21. How could a referendum be undemocratic? It would only go that way if it were the will of the people. Are you saying you wouldn't accept the will of the people if enough of them felt the first referendum misled them and they changed their votes? Because there are certainly quite a few out there who feel that way. It doesn't sound like you would happily accept a referendum result if it went against you either. So you aren't so different from those remainers after all.
  22. So if brexit is eventually revoked, for example as a result of a second referendum, you would accept it?
  23. So, how will you take it if democratic procedure and democratically taken decisions, based on the arguments to which you have, in theory, put your fingers in your ears and dismissed, eventually comes through and overturns the result of the referendum and brexit is revoked? There is that possibility, although it's unlikely. Would you shrug and say "okay, that's that then"? Hypothetically of course.
  24. But don't you think that you're lack of acknowledgement of a reasonable argument (even though you don't agree) is part of the problem? You dismiss the issue as non existent, when there clearly is something in it, which just means that of course it will be repeated, as you give more of an impression of not understanding than disagreeing. If someone disagrees with me, I generally accept a different point of view. If someone claims not to see my point at all, I'll keep explaining it and think that the fault is in their ability to "get it". As an intelligent person, you must be able to recognise some flaws in how the referendum was approached, but you're also right that remain voters largely ignored that while they thought a win was a near certainty. To get respect from the other side, you need to recognise their point of view as valid, as well as pointing out why it's your own is stronger. Otherwise you'll never shake off the"wilfully ignorant" and stupid label.
  25. Ceredigion is apparently specifically excluded from the pact. They will compete against each other there.
