  1. There was a thread where it was mentioned that he might get third choice if his form was good and there were injuries. Nobody touted him to actually play for England. I know this as I looked up the thread a couple of weeks ago, when our keepers were a main topic of discussion. That comment was made and hardly anybody even agreed with that. So you can stop shouting me down.
  2. I'd challenge you to find one single post where anybody says Kelvin should play for England. I think you've got that one wrong, like you did with Guly's contract.
  3. Never seen the fanbase so completely united. Adkins is an excellent manager, who was getting better all the time. If there was a breakdown between Adkins and Cortese, Cortese should have done everything possible to try to make him stay. This new bloke is going to have to do an amazing job to win everyone over. I am going to be quite envious of whoever gets Adkins as their manager. I really hope nobody hands in a transfer request because of this. I think it puts in danger the contracts of Shaw and Puncheon too. now we go back to the old managerial merry-go-round I had been hoping we had left behind. An Argentinian best known for fouling an English player at the World Cup, he really knows how to do it, replace a charismatic, intelligent manager with the sort of person generally automatically hated by English fans.
  4. Agreed, but I think with time on your hands, the context of the deal (from this thread) and a bit of intelligence, someone could translate "closest to the target" (Thankyou Bing Translate) to "He has almost finished". As I said, he might be King Harald V for all I know, it was just the phrase that made me suspicious. Actually my point was that "mål" is most commonly translated as "goal". Substitute that into your sentence and you see how it might be confusing when talking about a defender. Well, when written down they are virtually the same, but something odd happen when Danish people speak. The most basic sentence just becomes utterly incomprehensible. It's a bit like when somebody from Newcastle speaks English.
  5. I can tell you now, that is not a computer translation. I've seen plenty of those from students that just run stuff through a translator and deliver utter nonsense. Very little of that is directly translated, it is mostly rephrased by somebody who understood it. "nærmest i mål" would've been confusing for somebody translating directly for a start. Either danbert did a good job rebuilding it to make sense, or he or someone he knows speaks a bit of Norwegian. You're right about Norwegian being useless for business though, many Norwegian businesses use English in the office even when only Norwegians are present. Everything official is usually done in English. My kids love having a "secret" language they can use in England though.
  6. Pretty much spot on with the translation. Never heard of the paper mentioned, but then i don't live in Møre og Romsdal, where Molde is. TV2 only mentioned it briefly as their first item last night, but seemed to think it was going to happen. They spent more time talking about winter sports really though. It's the break here, but cross country skiing, biathlon, snowboarding and ski jump fill up the schedule. Today's students in my first class all really rate Forren. "You'll never concede another goal with him in the team." I think they're just trying to keep me happy.
  7. yeah, what a bunch of losers still singing songs about saints now we're two divisions apart. Luckily our fans are now well over Portsmouth and no longer sing any songs about them and the Portsmouth posts on our forum have pretty much come to a stop. What a bunch of obsessed losers they are.
  8. Today's update on Vegard (the d is not usually pronounced) Forren from my classes: My twenty 18 year old Oil well Technician students (supposedly the brightest) generally agreed that he is the best defender in Norway, but would not be good enough for the premier league. The e in Molde is pronounced like the e in egg, by the way. Another not very interesting fact, did you know the owner of molde is also the same Norwegian who made a bit of a mess of Wimbledon some years back?
  9. I almost never post there, but I have already posted twice on this thread. Like this one: I did ask my other classes, as I don't know much about him, but most of them follow both leagues more closely than I do. My 17 year old electronics students thought he was pretty good, but more suited to the lower teams in the PL (this class had the lowest interest in football though), my "Ship's technical" class, aged early twenties to mid thirties were very knowledgeable and all believed he was easily good enough for the PL. So there you go. A straw poll of about 50 fans of Norwegian football who also watch the PL regularly and the general consensus was that he should be a good signing for us, although oddly enough, different people have different opinions. I also spoke to my wife and she will be sitting opposite the Molde owner at a dinner on Thursday and promised to make it the main topic of conversation, although she may have been lying.
  10. Didn't we have this thread a couple of months ago? As I said then, I think religion is pandered to too much. Religion is a personal choice and other people shouldn't be made to accommodate it. If you believe your religion means you must do things that do not fit that job, then you believe that this job is not compatible with your religion. this is the kind of sacrifice a believer should be prepared to make.
  11. Okay, my first class of the day (17 year old "Technical and industrial production" students) are unanimous that he would be good enough for the premier league. One thinks he won't come to us because he's a united fan, most agree he should come to us so that he won't sit on the bench. They all watch a lot of Norwegian and English football. I'll give the verdict from my other classes later. My wife is going to be talking to the Molde owner at his house on Thursday. I'll have her talk it over with him then.
  12. Don't really know a lot about him to be honest, so I won't pretend I do. On the whole I'd say defenders aren't too bad and if you're going to buy a player from the Norwegian league, make it a centre back, a goalie or a solid striker. Most quick or skilful players here come in for a shock when they move to a better league. Huseklepp, for example was a big star here, but has really come back with his tail between his legs. My wife works for the owner of Molde though and speaks to him pretty regularly. I used to have Jan Åge Fjørtoft's home number, but sadly not any more.
  13. Barry recently proved he isn't dune by naming THREE places in Liverpool and linking to where he recently posted on another forum. So he can't be Dune. Also as he says, he recently moved here from New Zealand. Despite being a big enough saints fan to have racked up nearly a thousand posts on the forum in two months, starting shortly after dune was banned, he never posted while he was in NZ as they don't have this forum there.
  14. It doesn't matter what we all think, the important thing is that we all judge him without really knowing much about how well he's doing the job he's been asked to do, then sneer at anyone else who has come to a different decision based on no real knowledge. It's the SWF way.
  15. Remember when sturomseysaint got banned and tried to come back with a new personality, but reverted to type within about a week and everyone knew it was him? Or when crouchie got fed up with being picked on so reinvented himself, but was so clearly crouchie he was outed within days? Or when deppo got banned twice in a couple of weeks because he could only be deppo despite his new log-in? I find this one even more transparent than that. he started off with one thin persona, then has slowly changed back into dune before our eyes. Little trademark giveaways all over the place. Doesn't bother me, I never called for him to be banned in the first place and don't mind him being here, but I'm not surprised his addiction to this place pulled him back (Nearly 800 posts in two months!). At the current state of regression I dare say he'll be gone again soon enough anyway.
  16. Nice one, dune. Have you moved or is it a clever twist in the cunning new persona?
  17. Your mask is slipping quite badly these days, dune. Well done for getting back on after the ban though.
  18. I would be amazed if we bought a CM in this window. I'd guess it's an area NA thinks we've got sorted (Cork, Morgan, Davis and JWP all seem to be rated). If we're actively searching for players, I'd imagine we'd be looking at wingers and defenders. We still have nobody natural on the left wing and we can't keep sticking players out there, Shaw needs a decent, left-footed partner soon.
  19. Buy some cross country skis, get on the T-bane up to Frognerseter, choose a direction and off you go on lovely, prepared paths, an easy, cheap way to enjoy the snow and the time of year the same way the Norwegians do. Otherwise you can stay in the city and spend a stupid amount of money on overpriced bars and restaurants. You can even pack a sheet sleeping bag and sleep over at cabins and hostels for very little money up in the mountains not far from Oslo. People think Norway's expensive, but it's cheap if you do it like the Norwegians do.
  20. Have been out on the slopes all day yesterday and today, an hours drive from my front door. It's okay living in a mountainous country at these times. The only annoying thing is that my 7 year old daughter is already better than me.
  21. Shave it off. Unfair though it may be, people judge you incredibly quickly and on small things. It will probably make no difference, but why take a chance of the interviewer stereotyping you as a certain type of person? I think for an interview clean cut is the sensible option.
  22. So far the one that's looked the best to me has been Gazza, but they've all been ****ing up, so it's not saying much. Whichever one manages to be consistent during their turn will be the one then. That puts it all in Boruc's hands now. Let's hope he can hold onto it.
  23. Come on! 53 and lives in Hampshire? Everybody must know who that is! Dead giveaway.
  24. It's an interesting question, but i think we may have actually won at least one of those with Lallana in the team, although I wouldn't have a clue who to drop. Strange to say it, but I think Guly improves the team. Did I just write that? That can't be right can it? It's a great problem to have.
