cortese organising a trip that wasnt condusive to building team spirit,because of his/his wifes and his wifes sisters presence. it was him showing the players what a big noise he was in switzerland. the opposition was way too strong for the stage the team were at. the pre season agenda changed from day to day due to the ill fated 125 anniversary tournament he was putting together, (finished up playing sutton away, hastily arranged )Add this to APs long stated claim that the medical /sports science were not good /experienced enough having only ever worked at academy level. surprised me that na was so glowing so quickly about medical side although i hear good things about the new physio. lambo did his pre season with gassers last year, looks like their medical had the right idea with him.sports science had a pre season programme that AP thought was not tough enough,but the fact we had to play a frnch prem side and a swiss prem side without the base levels of fitness in the team meant we were always playing catch up, due to the pre season tour of switzerland. ap wanted to go to sweden with the tried and trusted plan of ..comfortable 5/6-0er against local side everyone getting a game,wherever we were staying, bit tougher next game 3-0ish everyone getting a runout , final game against good team result unknown, the work load can be high when the opposition is tailormade for your needs,team has won games so confidence is good,lots of down time for analysis of previous games/future opponents/gameplan goal/target setting with analyst couldnt be done as analyst was told he wouldnt be going by cortese a couple of days before we went and the new guy went who had no 1st team experience /knowledge. But again all of these decisions were taken out of the managers hands by nc, its what happens when somebody with no football knowledge/exprience interferes. he had responsibility without accountability, when results werent to his liking the axe fell on manager and coaches as usual with interfering chairman. he also informed the staff that he was the owner and not Markus this was done in a wine cellar at a wine tasting event that he laid on for the senior staff, he also said that he would not be talking to the media this season. presumably because of his disatrous times interview.

Iknow this will upset some but i still cant bring myself to read it through completely, i was in the cathedral and was as upset as everybody and was looking forward if thats the right word to hearing some words about Markus. biks pathetic story didnt surprise me as people i know in the city tell me he is an unreliable drunk , who nobody bothers to call after lunch!! Calling markus an honorary Englishman was a crass thing to say in front of his family. i was hoping for something that could give an insight into Markus the man we didnt know,as all good eulogies do. the story started and i listened intently,but as it went on all i could hear was the name nicola, this story had obviously been given to bik verbatim and i thought it was cortese aligning himself to Markus instead of telling us something more about the man himself, i thought it was more about the emphasising of how close cortese was to Markus than anything of Markus himself. was there no story that could be told that didnt involve nicola. i didnt like it at the time and i dont want to read it again. there was an opportunity to learn something about this great guy and i think it was missed. but cortese, name was peppered in there enough

sorry i was refering to everything he has done from the last game of the season,no make that from jpt final, when he told the staff they had to win it for HIM, not ml, not the players, not the fans...HIM, that was the only time he travelled on the team coach, and he decided to sack the team analyst, a young lad who was saints mad and v good at his job. he did it because the physio made the analyst a cup of tea and he thought it was wrong as physio was senior to analyst. AP tried to get medical staff changed from last october onwards. had new physio in place, ex wimbledon/west ham 20yrs premier league experience. cortese met him ,took instant dislike to him and refused to take him on. this is his perogative as chairman but just shows how soon he was prepared not to let the manager manage. AP wasnt happy with the medical/sports science level of experience. This has led us to where we are now, Ads out,Lambert nowhere near fit,,many of the squad had interrupted pre season but by this time all medical /physio came under the Les read umbrella and were not directly answerable to AP. absolutely not the way to run a football club. finally got a new physio after orient game but damage was done. Cortese meddling and thoroughly inept, he is now all powerful and totally unnacountable,adding this to his total lack of football based business knowledge and we are flying by the seat of our pants !!!!

i thought i was the only one fully aware of Cortese' shortcomings,you are absolutely spot on. Heres one then...all i've ever heard from nc about his relationship with Marcus is from nc,never a word from the family or from marcus while he was alive. now there is a significant lack of funding in the transfer market,the much heralded work at the TG is, as we speak 7 months behind schedule. after going to game last night, my gripe now on reflection is...... ok you dont get on with.. ap,only one winner there! Did he get rid of the wrong two coaches?..na has taken over a thoroughly demoralised squad,that is lacking in confidence,this is a million miles away from the performances (if not the results)against plymouth... battered them for 30 mins,even better start for first 30mins v o's and competed with bolton, then turned the corner with complete performance at gassers. wilkins has ruined the moral,confidence and team spirit during his brief role along with m hunter(WHO HE!!!). na has said what agreat job he did as caretaker,i think it was criminal. dont know how much input murdoch had as gk coach but downes was well liked by players by all accounts and had had success at reading. the players arent playing now and they were before compared to last night. so my gripe is nc you have cost us another 9 points a cup exit and now na has to pick the players off the floor......the best squad in the league!!!! we were after b rovers . NC failed to take into account that these things do affect players no matter what positive spin they put out. this is a bloody tough job now. gripe over
