I just listened to the Hardtalk interview with the Bosnian foreign minister. A very good example of what's wrong with the way the EU is heading. Western Europe? No problem. Central and eastern Europe? At a pinch. But the Balkans are nowhere near ready for the degree of collaboration and integration that EU membership requires. And what about Turkey? Are they really in line? They're not even in Europe.
The issue isn't about what the EU is now, and it's already near breaking point on many issues, but what will it become over the next few years?
I didn't think I would say this, but I think now is the time to get out and leave them to it.
