  1. 100% this. We don't want to make the same mistake as Chelsea or United
  2. It's always the hope that gets you in the end. Can you see that light at the end of the tunnel....
  3. It's all they've got left from theTesco hush money. That's gonna be a real humdinger of a stadium redevelopment.
  4. ...for £8m when we can get the real thing fit and rearing to go for only £25m.
  5. Cans or bottles?
  6. He's been reading Stalin's guide on how to become a caring socialist.
  7. We'll be able to get 5 woodbine for 6d? That will get you googlin'
  8. Can I vote for Barry Roche?
  9. Hardly. Most of Tim's views are built up over a lunchtime.
  10. I expect he was referring to this one: Is that the same one you were referring to?
  11. Whitey has said before that the success of his own business depends on continuing EU membership. I have some sympathy with that, but it doesn't make his opinions correct.
  12. Which UN resolution?
  13. One thing I've learned in my life, most of which is unfortunately behind me, is that the closer you get to polling day the louder the voices of the losers become. And the silent majority remain.......silent.
  14. To be fair, most of the work that the PST carries out these days is because they can't afford to pay proper contractors to do it. Who's got a paintbrush?
  15. It's been many years since I handled a dispute in England involving an insolvency, but in some of the jurisdictions that I work in the creditor's right to receive the interest on the amount owed ceases when the insolvency event occurs. But it rarely stops them from claiming it in the first instance.
  16. That's what I would have expected, so they did pretty well then. Given that they could then lend that £20m to somebody else at a profit.
  17. For anybody who isn't completely bored by the Falkland saga yet, there's a pretty good history of what actually went on here, including a free copy of Lorton's helpful book on the subject.
  18. Can you explain that? What did it include? Interest only up to the date of administration? Or future interest as well? Penalties? Other charges?
  19. Do we know if the £23.1m was the sum claimed by NU or the amount accepted by the liquidator?
  20. It seems to me that if you ask somebody how much they will accept to settle a debt and they say 10 million now and another 5 when you get back to the PL, then if you give them the 10 million and the 5 million then you have paid them in full. Also I know that if I ask my bank how much it would cost to settle my mortgage they give me an imaginary number that includes all kinds of early settlement fees and penalty interest and interest in lieu of notice and all that malarkey. The Parties agreed a figure and it was paid. I have no doubt NU got their money back, but I doubt if it was their most profitable investment.
  21. What about the North Atlantic?
  22. Still don't know when to stop digging. No it isn't. It's 287 miles from the closest point on the mainland, and 188 miles from the closest inhabited island (Hirta). No it isn't. The Falklands are 301 miles from the closest point on the mainland, and 215 miles from the closest inhabited island. In case you have a problem with sums, that makes the Falklands 27 miles further away from the closest inhabited island, and 13 miles further away from the mainland. Nope. Wrong again. Ireland is 268 miles from Rockall, Scotland proper is 228 miles away. Because I'm not such a dimwitted pedant that I actually look for uninhabited rocks sticking out of the middle of the ocean just to try (and fail) to make a point on the internet. Really? I posted a comment on here because I know a bit about the Falkland Islands, having actually been there, and have some empathy with the people that live there. You clearly haven't, and are furiously trying to make up an argument as you go along based on what you can find on google and wikipedia. For what it's worth, I only generally only comment on topics that I know anything about from my own personal experience, that I think might be of interest. Any idiot can read the internet and recycle other people's opinions that they've read in newspapers.
  23. 228 miles from Rockall to Goular in North Uist. Any more?
  24. To be fair soggy, I think the eggs and dogsh1t on your wall is more of a clue than the bracelet hidden under your sleeve.
  25. Show me a map that shows the Falklands less than 270 miles from Argentina. Just to help you stop digging, the closes point from the westernmost tip of Beaver Island (the most westerly point of the Falklands) is Cabo Vergenes, 300 miles away.
