They're a bit Mickey Mouse on first reading, but what do you expect from a 4th division club. There are a few inconsistencies, but some of the highlights for me are... which should be read together with... so nothing at all to worry about there then. They show a profit of £2k after a £1m windfall, made up of £700k profit on player sales, and another £300k robbed from the poor creditors of the previous company. Neither of these are repeatable, and without them they would have lost £im in the year. And their wage bill increased from £4m to £5m. Remember this was for last season, so that £5m was the cost of valiantly avoiding relegation out of the football league altogether last season. There is no doubt that their wage bill has increased again for this year. It's hard to see how they can avoid posting a whacking great loss for the current season, and if they can't sweeten that with Yeah but we got promotion didn't we then I think the shareholders could well be revolting. And I don't understand how a 4th division football club can have debtors of £5m. Who owes them £5m?

That is not the point that moonraker was making, nor was it the one that I responded to. But to a certain extent you're right. How Britain trades with Africa (amongst others), now and in the future, should be part of the stay/leave equation.

No this Portsmouth have never played in the PL.

No, the work has all been done. Really it has. Because the temporary limited capacity that was introduced three years ago for just one game... ...has been removed and the full capacity has been reinstated. But the club are keeping that secret, obviously, because they don't want people to know. Otherwise they'll all be wanting to buy more tickets.

Some people have their "Sabbath" on a Friday. -
Am I missing something here? Absolutely. We don't want to hear from an organisation based outside the EU about what it's like doing business outside the EU during a debate about what it's like to be based outside the EU and doing business outside the EU, do we? Absolutely. We definitely don't want to be thinking about doing any business in the region that has shown the world's highest economic growth over the past ten years, and is forecast to achieve the highest economic growth in the next ten years.

To be fair, if you don't know that then why are you posting about it? -

I agree with you, and my point was whatever you might think about Sour Mashes politics, his post highlighting huge cultural conflicts between Muslim states and secular liberal Western society is correct. -

You should tell badger, he thinks there is. And your considered opinion on the food and drink point he made? -

You're just making his point for him confirming that they do indeed blow up tens of thousands of people. And tell me you know the difference between shunning something and making possession of it illegal. -
So many ways to sneak another stadium expansion thread in under the radar

Fair, but I suggest there are more deep seated reasons behind the present turmoil in the region. The ostracisation of Iran in the seventies, which broke a centuries-old balance in the region betwen the competing Islamic forces, opened the door for the Sunni-dominated Saudis (and their offspring OPEC, GCC etc etc) and other Sunni leaders to spread their controlling interests far and wide. I'm not saying the Iranians were lily white, but not enough thought or understanding was given to the consequences of the action that was taken. And the unfettered support and encouragement that was given to the Arab spring, again without thought or understanding of the repercussions, is a huge factor in the present turmoil. You CANNOT simply export western style secular democracy to states that for centuries have been ruled jointly with an iron fist by unelected religious clerics standing alondside "hereditary" leaders controlling every single aspect of every minute of life. Some, but by no means all, of the people were sold the prospect of a new beginning through social media that simply couldn't be delivered. So yes, western governments are in my opinion partly culpable, but the boots on the ground and aerial bombing are consequences of earlier mistakes, not the cause. And to those that say "but the terrorists are Brtiish- or Belgian-born and bred" I say that the colour of their passport or place of birth is completely irrelevant, they are pawns in a game that is being controlled from the Middle East. It has been said on here before but not understood by many, that muslims are, directly and indirectly, the real targets of the current wave of terror. Da'esh wants to create islamophobia in the west, to drive straying muslims back to them. -

I personally feel much happier that we just recruited 2,000 extra data analysis spooks for GCHQ rather than 2,000 more armed coppers. But that's probably just me. -

The "Solar Impulse" round-the-world solar powered experiment is interesting. Charge the batteries in flight during the day to provide power to fly through the night. Airborne 24/7. A bit like having your own personal ankle tag in the sky. -

As Soggy put it earlier, the tactic is doomed to fail. I too was in London through the 80s and 90s and saw too many aftermaths and stood in too many queues while the stations/streets/pubs were swept. But there was no fear, or terror. There was plenty of anger, and resolve, and sadness. But terror? No. -

"We need to make some changes to the qualifying process to spice things up a bit. We've got the team owners over there, the technical directors here, the drivers there, and that 85 year old bloke over there sitting in the corner stirring his ovaltine. Who should we ask?"

There's your answer. The other one was a lying little shyte.

Just fine I think. It's true there are likely to be 6 South Coast premier league derby games next season. But the real men's football will still be being played in the fourth division.
