I'd have him back. He'd fit Ralph's shape perfectly and it would leave transfer funds for priority areas of defence. He might have been a knob when he left but everyone has moved on since then anyway.

I went to 5Guys the other day and the potatoes were from Poortvliet farm. That's a fact.

So, it’s 3rd round time. Always a good weekend in the season. I’m sure we will rest Ings, and it makes sense for Romeu to play this one but I hope we put out a strong team and win the tie. We don’t want to lose momentum and everyone loves a cup run. It’s a shame we don’t have any full back options though as it would also be good to give them a rest. Delle Ali!

Bournemouth better hope they can find those begging buckets if they go down. We've signed some ****e but Solanke and Ibe take some beating in the "spaffing money on rubbish" awards.

What penalty is Mourinho complaining about? The one where Ali dived when the cross came in? Mental!

I think the fact Bertrand absolutely wellied it. It was hit so hard he had no time to react. That said, if it had been given VAR would not have overruled it, IMO.

Strange pen for West Ham, there.

Great performance against 12 men. Stephens and Ward Prowse have stepped up hugely. That was one of JWP’s best games, despite set pieces being a bit off. McCarthy and Bednarek were composed and solid. Cedric and Bertrand were excellent. Hojbjerg was tidier than usual. Armstrong so hard working and committed. Ings - proper class. Djenepo didn’t have a great game but worked hard. Redmond worked hard but, frankly, was poor on the ball. One of our best performances of the season. Well done, Ralph and the lads.

In any event, happy new year everyone! I would get off here for the evening, if I were you!

He’s much brighter than you when it comes to logic. Either that, or your wind up routine is getting tired.

FFS You think the Bible plucked Jerusalem out of its ass or you think maybe the writers of the Bible knew Jerusalem was already an important site for the Jews? The fact that two disparate groups of people know the same thing doesn’t establish some sort of spiritual link between them.

If you choose to borrow money then you need to assess whether your income or other resources will allow you to repay it. If you're borrowing more to service existing debt, you'd better be pretty sure it will, or you'll be screwed. You don't just borrow what you want on the basis that you will surely have enough money coming in somehow to repay it. The banal household analogy is of pretty limited value when you're talking national macroeconomics managed by transient governments, in any event. The point is that cutting expenditure is a legitimate response to unmanageable levels of expenditure. Simple as that. You can look at growth but you also need to look at spending. It's a balancing act. It's not dogmatic, like Corbynism. You started the contest by calling me stupid. I agree, it is not needed. Res ipsa loquitur.

Do you not think Jesus teaches a deeper morality than “obey the law”? That can be used to justify any abuse of power. I assume you are American?

Introducing a margin of error is wrong-headed. That margin needs to be defined so you're just moving the problem to incidents on the edge of the margin. VAR should stay but laws need to adapt in a VAR environment to reflect its precision. For offside, I would look at whether the rear part of the attacker is more advanced than the forward part of the relevant defender. It would favour attacking play and effectively reintroduce "daylight" as a concept, even if we accept that those calls may also be very fine.

So it's fair that some kids get cancer because Eve ate an apple once? That's fairer than not creating cancer? I assume you're on a wind-up and just enjoying watching MLG-bot because no one can seriously be that stupid or cruel.

So if you're from somewhere where they don't teach your god, it's no heaven for you? Sounds fair.

Offside law needs tweaking for when VAR is in use, more info on screens, referral system. Make it better. But at least we don't get dry humped like this any more.

I've just seen the highlights for the first time, and you are quite right. Ings starts to sprint when Djenepo starts to close down Kelly and that's why he gets to the ball first. A sign of a well drilled team and a player in confidence and we'll committed. It's encouraging although I still think we are weak defensively, despite recent good results. Fortunately, a lot of the teams have a big weakness this year.

That penalty incident in the Man City game at Anfield was key. As others have said, I think peak Man City are still the best team and certainly the team I would much rather watch.
