    Women's sport

Wasn't that a sort of "token" thing though? I think it would be more interesting for sports without a physical imbalance for everything to be mixed up.

200 ITK points incoming for me.
  4. Has he got boner?
  5. Working from home today so am watching the bowls on BBC2. It appears (you'd be forgiven some doubts from looking at one of them) to be the women's final. Anyway, why do you need separate women's and men's tournaments in a sport like bowls? Bowls, darts, snooker, shooting / archery etc. - surely it's a level-playing field? Obviously you can't have women competing with men in professional football, tennis, rugby etc. as they have no chance at all but with the likes of the above, I don't get why there are two distinct tours (and obviously if there are distinct tours then there ought to be about 24, to respect all the genders).
  6. TBF, I wouldn't over-endow the Channel Islands authorities with competence or capacity. These are very small, sleepy, slightly odd places. That said, I very much doubt he is living off barbequed puffin in a hut on Burhou and do suspect the authorities have better uses of their time than fielding calls from well-meaning idiots. If by some miracle, they did make it to the island, find a fresh water source and heat themselves up sufficiently to survive, I'm pretty sure they would have come out and waved their arms at passing search aircraft.

Maybe there isn't a striker or CB available who we want? And this is going to be a relatively cost-neutral pair of transfers so it's not an alternative to signing a striker or centre back. Now we've got rid of Hoedt there is space for a CB. I can't see us signing a striker in January unless Austin is moved on.
  8. If anything, I expect the non-footballing operations at the club are relatively undersized for a business of such a size and profile. It's such an odd business model because the majority of turnover is contingent on being in the Premier League. There aren't many other businesses where the amount of "customers" can remain pretty constant but where your turnover can suddenly be cut in two.
  9. It's an unexplored market, the old "score a screamer" market.
  10. Seeing as Pulisic is still at Dortmund then any deal (which would seem unlikely) would presumably involve a loan back until the end of the season.
  11. That seems quite surprising. There are plenty of direct commercial flights from Nantes into London and Southampton and I'm sure Cardiff would have happily picked him and hot-footed him over to Wales. This guy was obviously doing well in France but it's not like he's a global superstar who can't travel on commercial flights. I guess everyone was just in a rush. If Cardiff didn't book it and neither did Nantes then I suppose it was probably his agent. Horrible situation for his family who will always be left with the thought that if he'd got one of those commercial flights he would have arrived safely.
  12. "rarely post unless upset by the ref" - haha. There are few things more annoying than a bad ref!
  13. Are Gtech AirRams any good?
  14. Who arranged the plane? I doubt it was the player, so presumably Cardiff City? There could be quite a lot of fall-out here if it was a clapped out old banger.
  15. I see. Thanks.
  16. Why didn't you feel comfortable - because it's a single engine and there's nowhere to land? Sorry, if that's an obvious question. Genuinely interested.
  17. According to this https://www.leedsunited.com/news/academy-news/22588/jack-clarke-signs-professional-contract he is under contract until the end of the season after next so there's no chance he is getting sold for £5m unless there is a release clause or Leeds are about to go bust. He'll be worth £30m easily in a year if he carries on playing well. He's 5 years younger than Maddison who went for £20m after one decent season in the Championship. Edit - why is this post called "ambulance"? I did not write that. Very odd. Forum must be hacked. Probably those PMs that were doing the rounds.
  18. There is a strike. It might get cancelled. It might not. Sorry.
  19. I agree, I would keep things as settled as possible for now. We can work on a back 4 next pre-season if that's the long-term aim.

  21. But we played a flatter 352 yesterday. If we were playing 3421 then I'd have Armstrong over JWP.
  22. Yeah, he's definitely improved on that. Fair play. The change in shape (well, same shape as v Derby but different to usual league shape) today helped him as well, along with Everton being a mess and leaving loads of space between their lines. I think that was probably his best performance for us though.

I doubt 36 will be cutting it fine either, to be honest, unless we lose to Cardiff. I agree though, we should be aiming for much more than that.

We aren't going to need 39 points to stay up.
