How does that “force his hand”? He’s either prepared to lose money to play football sooner or he isn’t. It’s up to him. And if we flog McCarthy he’ll be second choice again.

As it stands we have a commitment to pay him around 6 or 7 million over the next two years. If he leaves he’ll probably get about 500k to 1m a year max from a Championship club.
