If only their chairman had got his way and abolished relegation when they were in the PL...
-
Too blatant. Did you edit it down as well?
-
He's not a defender either.

You know "productivity" doesn't mean "making stuff" in this context, right?

Not sure if you're talking to me or not. I don't question whether Slattery is good enough. I don't know that yet. I'm saying he has never played as a deep midfield player or a "destructive" midfielder and therefore isn't really cover for Romeu or Hojbjerg. He's more like cover for Ward Prowse. Someone who is a proven good Championship player and who is more similar to those players would be useful to have in our squad.

Priorities for me at the start of the window were centre back, striker and right back, in that order. Then centre midfield. And I didn't expect us to lose Targett and Lemina. We signed a striker but it's a big ask for a guy who's never played at this level to be our main goal source. However, I appreciate that signing a "proven" 15+ PL striker is nigh-on impossible so I'm reasonably pleased with the Adams signing. Djenepo - who knows? Do we need him, especially with Boufal back? If we play JWP deeper to accommodate him then we will be weak in centre midfield. I'm not sure he improves us this season. Danso - again, who knows but he's a 20 yr old with limited game time. As CB Fry says, I'm not sure he's exactly what we needed. Maybe this is the best we can do under Gao's "no investment" policy - and seeing as we still have loads of useless over-paid dross stinking the place out - and if they all turn out great then in the long-run it will be an excellent window but it doesn't feel like it at the moment.
-
Exactly. It's going to be round pegs in square holes if Romeu or Valery gets injured. Is a 20 yr old centre back really going to be good enough on the ball to play CM in the PL? Slattery has always been more of a "10" or "8" than a deep midfielder.

If he's as bad as everyone thinks then we can just pop a few in from 25 or 30 yards, no problem. Exploit their weakness and nullify van Dijk. #tacticalgenius #frontsweeper

I really don't understand why he isn't with our squad. Assuming Lemina won't play again, we are painfully weak in midfield.
-
Paper straws suck.
-
No he isn't. Talking out of your arse.
-
Anyway, this one is calling out for Frazer Richardson front sweeper.
-
He's still much better than any of our keepers though.

Ralph seems too focussed on this idea that we constantly switch shapes. I can only guess that's why he picked Stephens. If we switch to a back 4, Stephens will go alongside Romeu and JWP will move wider and forwards. But the reality is we've got a bunch of pretty poor players who are mentally quite fragile and a very weak spine to the squad. Better off just sticking with something and grinding through the season. Absent any transformative investment it will take a long time to sort this squad out and I'm not sure this summer has particularly helped us in the here and now.

Just got to hope we don't get thrashed but it will doubtless be a fairly comfortable loss.

Brings a new meaning to the phrase, "**** me sideways".

Because the people who buy these things will, by and large, buy any old ****e we churn out.

It's a website with .uk suffix about an English football team. The least the ****s could do is bother with a decent English version.

If it's a genuine "option" everything has to be agreed, transfer terms, player wages, agent fees, contract length, everything. Otherwise it's nothing.
