Yeah, you're right. Spain are so disjointed. That sort of staccato football makes me wretch all over my lounge. They are rubbish and wouldn't even finish in the top half of the Prem (which is brilliant, by the way: every game a cracker and not a hint of bloated commercialism in sight). Aston Villa, Man City and Spurs would dump all over them. Aresenal would batter them with their clinical finishing and rock solid defence. Park, Fletcher and Nani would make Iniesta, Fabregas and Xavi look silly. Don't even get me started on Brazil. Bunch of mincing lady-boys.

I agree to a certain extent. You should certainly have a plan beforehand. However, I would not want to stop the manager from exercising discretion in the heat of the moment if needs be. Sometimes you can see in a player's eye that they are ****ting themselves and more likely to miss.

Utter, utter nonsense I'm afraid. If you strike a penalty firmly towards the top half of the goal in either final quarter of the goal there is no way the keeper will save it from twelve yards. Top internationals should be able to do this time after time. Obviously the pressure can get to you but that is not "lottery". It is so lazy to speak of the "lottery" of penalty shout-outs. You can improve your chances. It is not a lottery.

There's no way in the world MLT should have been in the England starting team in '98 - Shearer, Owen, Scholes were world-class consistent performers - but he's surely exactly the type of player you want in a squad. If Capello leaves J Cole or A Johnson behind in order to take some no-mark like Carrick or Huddlestone to this year's world cup he will have made the same mistake.

You can't go from a bankrupt entity being run on a shoestring to a company with top-class hospitality, a brand new training facility, the ability to recruit top people etc.. without money coming from somewhere. A slightly higher average gate (at cheaper prices) is not going to do the trick. It seems to me the strategy is to establish a business capable of running according to sensible business norms when it reaches the trading environment capable of delivering that: the top division. In the meantime, I think the plan is for Markus to put the infrastructure in place to make that viable when we do get there.
