This will be awful.

You're endangering everyone because by remaining a host and transmitter of the virus you are giving it an environment to adapt over time and increasing the likelihood that new strains which people aren't immune to will develop. Its pretty simple: if you refuse a safe vaccine you are a selfish bellend.
-
Assuming it passes the usual safety tests, why on earth would anyone not want it? You'd have to be some sort of pseudo tough-guy or selfish un-Christian moron to reject it. Even if you don't think you're at risk (which is a fucking stupid view to adopt given that long-covid is still badly understood) you have a duty to help curb spread by immunising yourself.

This isn't really news. This from 2018: https://www.stereogum.com/2025451/the-pogues-shane-macgowan-fairytale-of-new-york-censor/news/ "MacGowan has issued a statement to Virgin Media’s The Tonight Show addressing the lyrics. “The word was used by the character because it fitted with the way she would speak and with her character. She is not supposed to be a nice person, or even a wholesome person,” he said. “She is a woman of a certain generation at a certain time in history and she is down on her luck and desperate.” “Her dialogue is as accurate as I could make it but she is not intended to offend! She is just supposed to be an authentic character and not all characters in songs and stories are angels or even decent and respectable, sometimes characters in songs and stories have to be evil or nasty in order to tell the story effectively,” the statement continued. “If people don’t understand that I was trying to accurately portray the character as authentically as possible then I am absolutely fine with them bleeping the word but I don’t want to get into an argument.” McDermott returned to Twitter to respond to MacGowan, clarifying that no one on his team tried to get the song banned from RTÉ. “I get the dysfunctional characters and mayhem and trading of insults,” he said. “My point was we beep out relatively harmless swear words all the time on radio to appease literally everyone… So, the idea of beeping one word on daytime radio didn’t seem so radical — given this particular word packs a lot of punch for many people and is used as a powerful slur outside this song.”" Sensible explanation from MacGowan and a reasonable observation from some other geezer that, certainly during non-watershed hours, songs are censored all the time. No one is trying to stop people enjoying the original but you wouldn't have a song with loads of "niggers" or "muthafukas" left uncensored and broadcast during the daytime as entertainment - even in the context of an authentic narrative - and I don't think this is qualitatively different.

You think they should wait until they've got 17,000 or 170,000 then lock down?

We are definitely playing a more patient and better controlled build up, but still looking to attack with purpose and speed when we do attack. Last season we were much more direct at all times. In other words, we have added the ability to "break down" teams over recent weeks with technique and skill, not just with effort and pressure. I think that's partly tactical and testament to Ralph's work but maybe our success in transitioning to a new style has been helped by the players having a calmer environment to operate in. If you can feel tension then clearly there is more chance of taking the easy option on the ball or mis-executing the difficult option. I expect we will have a couple of games where it goes wrong and we get a bit of a bumming but it's definitely the way to go and a positive step forward.

Anyone seen the bizarre, desperate emails he is sending to his mailing list asking for funding for legal challenges? Read the small print and 50% of donations goes to a legal fund and 50% is used to pay off his campaign debts. Bankrupt grifters never learn.
-
Sounds like a third world shit hole.
-
He will always continue to spout it, even when the legal actions are finished. He will claim to have had the BEST US election ever because he got the most popular votes ever, apart from Sleepy Joe the FRAUD! who cheated bigly with some TREMENDOUS BAD things.
-
Not enough has been written about the glorious hilarity of Giuliani's press conference at Four Seasons Total Landscaping. Clearly, if you're launching a high-stakes legal challenge, the parking lot of a landscaping company in a back-street industrial park, next to a dildo shop is definitely where you hold your press conference. The last thing you want to do is hold it at a hotel of the same name, in case people get confused.

Has Turkish lent Batman his account?

Everybody's looking for that something One thing that makes it all complete You find it in the strangest places Places you never knew it could be Some find it in the face of their children Some find it in their lover's eyes Who can deny the joy it brings When you found that special thing You're flying without Ings

One of the reasons he is so determined not to go anywhere. His Presidential status and immunity is worth a lot to him! See how easily Giulliani was duped by a dead simple honey trap - whether he was wanking off or adjustjng his mic, what's he doing heading into the bedroom with her and jumping on the bed? - and do people really believe mobsters, Russians etc. don't have a lot of crap on Trump and his cohorts? The FBI will be all over him unless some sort of deal is done, and he's probably bankrupt again without a new TV deal or other venture. In a few years he'll probably be a dribbling wreck anyway. Not a good time to be "balls of steel" Donald.

Biden has already said he won't run for a second term. Trump is showing his true colours, although anyone who didn't already know what they were must have been pretty fucking dense but, frankly, I would wager it's better for the long term future of the country to have a relatively meek lame-duck guy for 4 years than a corrupt, lying, cheating, rabble-rousing, wannabe dictator with narcissistic personality disorder and dementia in charge. It's such a divided country though.

Derby would be owned by the same family as Man City - surely massive potential for conflict of interest to have the same family owning two clubs?
-
Trump obviously scared of the postal votes. Squeeling about "stealing" the election. Of course, "steal" means, "counting the votes". Some talk that postal votes in PA are 16 to 1 in favour of Biden based on initial counting.
-
Looking like Biden could flip Arizona but the overall result won't be known until all the counting is finished in a day or two in PA etc.
-
I would expect to see various dog whistles from Trump encouraging disorder tomorrow. Anything that plays into the narrative that the election was not properly conducted will be welcomed regardless of the wider impact.

People still banging on about "herd immunity". Won't happen. This is a rapidly evolving coronavirus. There will be as much herd immunity as there is for the common cold. Even when there are vaccines it will probably be the case that the vaccine needs to evolve and be taken annually or similar.

Since the start of this back in Feb / March, anyone credible has been pretty clear that the key to managing it is to have an effective test, trace and isolate system and to act fast. We haven't even managed to get one of the three things mentioned above in place properly. Lock-downs, early pub closures, "rules of six" etc. are just incremental mitigants. They all help a bit, and a full lock down is obviously temporarily effective, but they aren't enough if you don't know where the virus is and don't take and enforce steps to isolate it, and they are not sustainable. The idea that "the science" has been ambiguous or fickle is pony. We were unprepared and we have been unable to get our act together.

Down to the bare bones innit!

I noticed something on iPlayer about a couple of guys who somehow infiltrate their way into N. Korea regime. Haven't seen it yet but looks interesting. It's called, "The Mole: Infiltrating North Korea".
