To be honest, it wasn't even that weak. It was arguably our strongest available midfield. Mills has played well on several occasions this season and started in preference to Harding on a few occasions. Barnard and Connolly are hardly sub-standard for League One. Obviously Lambert is in our strongest 11 but I doubt there are many professionals in world football who have spent more minutes on the pitch this season. So that leaves Martin, who apparently played pretty well. Presumably because he had something to prove.

Exactly. You don't need to win loads of away games. Also, if you're near the top it's better to drop the points against the bottom teams than the teams around you. Picking a few select results against teams in a certain sector of the league is pretty pointless.

I think CM is the number one priority. We have no top-two quality cover there at all. Other positions which need addressing but which aren't as urgent are: RB: (keep Semi and Murty, keep one, keep none?) CF: we need to confirm whether Papa and Connolly will stay, if not we need to sign a pacy stricker. I don't see CB as a weak area at all. Unless Jaidi is about to call it a day we have three players of good enough quality IMO. We also have the option of Thomas and Perry if we think we need further cover there and apparently Martin looked decent today. We might decide we want to splash out on another excellent player, a la Fonte, but it really isn't a priority IMO.

Probably best if they don't come for cup matches against Sunderland. They might think it is a little tiny bit ****e.

I would argue that competition to compete with Schneiderlin is just as important. Bascially, we do need to strengthen in CM.

Didn't hear that but why play him today unless it was with a "show me what you can do" next season message? If AP was confident he wanted to keep him then it would've made more sense to give McNish or someone else a game. I wouldn't be surprised if James leaves. Unless he played well today.
