Thanks sado ... I'm glad somebody got it, I'd just about given up hope. Perhaps I should have mentioned mattresses!

Much has been made of all the clean sheets by the team this season, but surely that is really down to Cortese. Wasn't he the one who was responsible for that sort of thing ....

I think you mean defecating ... this is Poopey remember!

Saints 8 (Eight) Sunderland 0 - Match and Reactions

Wow, it looked like we could score every time we attacked, and at times in the second half we actually did! Tadic must surely have broken some sort of record for assists, no? :D:D -
Hi Sammy, yeah I follow all the Philly teams but started out following the Sixers. Really looking forward to the new NBA season, don't know why though as the Sixers are designed to lose for another year but after that it should start to get really good. Hang in there buddy as this team could be something special in a year or two. Great job so far by the Iggles, even they can't believe 5-1. Was a joy to watch them smash the G-Men 27-0. The much maligned defense were outstanding and special teams are just spectacular right now. Hell, they pulled off a punt block in the end zone for a TD two games running and that sort of thing just don't normally happen! It's a bye week for the Eagles, but hopefully they can keep this going and still be involved into the new year. Things might get interesting then! Don't know how many people are interested, but maybe we need an NBA thread, huh!

Simple really, just DON'T go to Pompey. Everywhere else is pretty much fine (though maybe best to avoid Middlesbrough too, just to be safe). Stonehenge sounds like a goer though, no?

Just watched a torrid encounter between the Eagles and Redskins, more like a 15 round prize fight than football. Both sides battered themselves to a standstill with the Eagles just remaining upright the longest for the win 37-34. A brave effort considering their already devastated OL and two of their best linemen in Kelce and Peters off in this match and no real replacements left. Not surprisingly Nick Foles was battered more times than Rocky, including a crude cheap shot that got Baker ejected along with Jason Peters for retaliating, but Foles got up after every hit and finally drove his team to victory. A gutsy effort, and a city that values toughness and strength of character has a new hero.

If one of those clubs really is Spurs, then we should charge them a premium on top of the fee for anyone else. Call it a Levy levy ...

Surely you mean ... 'non-league Portsmouth and Havant and Waterlooville' ? Or possibly ... 'non-league Moneyfields and Portsmouth (2015 PL)', which I think sounds more likely.

Good win for the Eagles, but a strange game with the home team booed off (this is Philly!) at the half 0-17. Chip Kelly's half time talks must be as good as Koeman's as the natural order was restored for a 34-17 win. Zach Ertz starred, as predicted, but two OL starters got injured and a third is suspended for PED violation so NIck Foles might not get too much protection in a tough game at the Colts next week. Still, it's a 100% season right now!

This weekend sees the start of the new NFL season, and therefore it's time for a new thread for all our NFL fans to post their news and views and hopes for the coming season. It's the Eagles for me and hoping that a second year under Chip Kelly will get them close to a SB appearance, but then again probably not! Strangest roster move was to cut DeSean Jackson (Chip didn't like his attitude) but player to watch in South Philly this season is second year TE Zac Ertz. After all, what's not to like about a 6'5" 250 pound TE/WR who pulls in catches for fun? Much will also depend on WR Jeremy Maclin's fitness, coming off an ACL last year he just has to stay healthy, especially with DJax now giving the Redskins locker room the benefit of his enlightened personality. Fly Eagles, Fly

Sampaoli is leaving chile after the World Cup and has been studying English and Italian for over the last year in preparation of management. Good bring him in then, he sounds like a good shout and is also actually Argentinean I believe. He has made Chile look like world beaters when they're not really quite that good. In a happy coincidence we are in a position to help him out with a soon to be redundant translator, should his English lessons not be going to well ...

Yakin has left Basel (isn't that pretty much Kat country in Switzerland?) and Tuchel has left Mainz. Either would appear as quality replacements with what they have achieved. Or the Chile chappie, who appears something of a like for like of the apparently departing MP.

Couldn't Frank de Boer just bring in his brother to run the academy teams ...?
-
I think that would be because most of the visiting supporters will clearly be gathering in huge numbers on the IoW today, thinking it's almost a home game for them ...

Well, we're on to 1940 now. What year exactly was D-Day again?

Plenty of good points being made already and it is clear so far that Poch retains the fans support on this board. Of course, we all thought that about Pardew and Adkins and look what happened there, so I was really just wondering how our new ownership may view things going forward. This is a big decision for them as they need to tie up Poch quickly or spend up big, most probably, to bring in someone else.
-
.... That is the question. Look, I know this comes in the aftermath of possibly our most disappointing loss this season but this game encapsulated what you get and what you don't get with Pochettino. Frankly, it has made me wonder if our new ownership structure will be quite as enamored with him as most of us have been. Clearly, he will never defend a lead but seeks to keep pressing forward in search of more goals which is admirable, but often suicidal in this league. When Spurs pressed us in the second half today we lost all shape and neither defended in depth or attacked them back. Our football this year has been lovely to watch but we are front runners and always vulnerable at the back and we have paid the price far too often this year. Of late both Pochettino and some senior players have appeared to be angling for a new contract to be offered, but none is yet forthcoming. It may, of course, be almost ready for signing but just maybe the new people might be considering an upgrade of manager if they think we cannot progress further as we are. Pochettino has taken us a long way in a shortish time but results don't really match our dominance in most matches and this pattern has been prevalent from day one. Some great results, yes, but too many losses when we should have won and those watching us with fresh eyes may wonder if a more experienced manager could achieve more, in terms of results. Cortese, never slow to pull the trigger, may well have thought so too, if he were still around! No doubt, Monday morning will cure me of these doubts because it has been a great time under Pochettino, as it was with Adkins, but performances like today will give RK and his board something to think about at least.

Monk... are you still at Chelski, and if so what do you think their attitude would be to an enquiry for Patrick Bamford, or perhaps even Lukaku? If we were to enquire for any of their players, would their response be likely to commence with the words 'Luke Shaw' on each and every occasion, do you think? Cheers

REQUEST DENIED ...... VIctor would look silly in stripes.

Deffo Keegan kit for me, a classic that set us apart from the rest and probably should have been continued as our identity. However, surely the next kit is already done and dusted and contracts signed, even with Cortese leaving. Seems unlikely Kat is still poring over colour charts and designs at this juncture. The looms are probably already being fired up in some Asian sweatshop...

We were poor today, too many players off their game and Stoke are such a difficult team for us to play against and their defence was never going to part like the Red Sea like Fulham's. But they responded brilliantly each time they went behind and attacked us. Was a great corner routine too for second equaliser as first man raced to meet the ball and Rickie left Crouch to try and close him down, but of course the ball ended up with Crouch where it was always going. Three card trick comes to mind, and Adam's ball for Odemthingy was a peach, just like Rickie's last week (Rickie's was better). So we defended poorly at crucial times and couldn't break down a massed defence second half. All in all a frustrating afternoon. Nice to see Kat has paid a visit to the megastore though and got kitted out!

As ever, you are indeed correct RB. As it happens, Mick and myself were born one door away from each other and played street football outside our houses. However, he was clearly good and went on to captain Surrey schools and then joined the skates as an apprentice, but with their usual foresight they disbanded the youths and Mick got picked up by Ipswich and the rest, as they say, is history.
