  1. :smt042 Let's say he gets out after 10 years (when he's in his seventies), takes Saints to the PL, and sells for a tidy profit of say £50 million. So he would make about £5 million per year on average: that means buying Saints earned him about 0.2% per year extra on top of his £2.5 billion. He really needs that extra money!

  3. Sorry, I have no doubt that you're wrong. ML is a multi-billionaire. He's in his sixties. He doesn't need to make money any more, he wants to enjoy it. If he wanted to make money he wouldn't invest in an English football club. What's that saying: if you want to make a small fortune in football, you have to start with a big one. I think he simply wants the enjoyment of owning and creating a successful football team, without debts, by spending a tiny % of his enormous wealth (which just seems a lot to us paupers ).
  4. At 5.00 a right back Yes indeed. But let's hope their match is not called off. It would be a shame for it to be rearranged for after their African Nations Cup players get back (assuming that their club still exists then )
  5. ... not to mention being more talented.
  6. But your lot will still probably be above us 3 years from now, right? Yes, you were absolutely right. But I think you'll be absolutely wrong with your prediction that P***** will still be above us 3 years from now.
  7. But does UAE really care about foreign creditors, or a bankruptcy that happens overseas (i.e. in the UK)? If they really do, I guess the ice cream doctor will retire somewhere else.
  8. So, do you still think you'll be above us 3 years from now? http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=408850&postcount=110 Originally Posted by Dark Munster Perhaps it's best to rephrase the question as I did to pfc123 (I've added stadium): Suppose someone were to give you the offer for P*mp*y and Saints to switch positions 3 years from now (owner, league position, facilities and debts). (Your decision of course must be made now, not 3 years from now.) Would you take the offer? http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/forum/sho...&postcount=260
  9. No-one can argue that he didn't want administration (losing his shares and his job). But once it was clearly inevitable, his timing can only be explained as an act of spite: he could easily have had it occur 4 days earlier and prevented the 10 point loss carryover to the next season.
  10. No, I think Lowe delayed the administration as an act of spite to give Saints fans, and the new owner, a gift of -10 points for the next season.
  11. Same thought crossed my mind some time ago. Imagine Saints finishing 7th, and making the playoffs (and winning!) because of P*****'s demise. Sadly, I think would be easier (and more likely) that they would simply have one less relegated team in CCC, L1 and L2. But P*****'s demise would still be a source of great merriment.
  12. From the title of this thread I thought you were going to describe Edmonton.
  13. Correction: 2010 will be the year when there will be only two teams in Hampshire. Saints and Saints reserves.
  14. A 2-0 success for the hosts on the day – both goals coming in the second half – was enough to instead condemn Southampton to relegation. Why do they continue to repeat that lie? Listen skates, even if you had murdered WBA 10-0, Saints would still have gone down. And listen, Saints got 3 points from their 2 games against the skates that year, so in fact the skates did their part, more than most of the other PL teams, to help keep Saints up. Thank you.
  15. No way.... they need to do a Lowe and go bust after the deadline for carrying the -10 points into the CCC (or lower).
  16. http://tinyurl.com/owtsgmi Enjoy!
  17. I had a dream where I saw Liebherr bulldozers demolishing Krap Nottarf after P****y were wound up.
  18. Shame it wasn't -40, then you could use Celsius or Fahrenheit. Here in San Diego we are also suffering from a cold snap... it's only +60 F (15 C) at the moment. Should be warmer and sunnier tomorrow though. :smt040
  19. Now, Al Fahim is considering suing Al-Faraj because he is being held responsible for it not going through by Gaydamak, who in turn is considering suing him. It has also emerged that Hong Kong-based businessman Balram Chainrai, who has provided Pompey with £20m in the form of a loan, is becoming increasingly frustrated by the club’s failure to secure re-financing. :smt043 Gaymadman is about to sue the ice cream doctor, the ice cream doctor is about to sue the second fake sheik. Now all we need is the second fake sheik to sue Gaymadman and the circle is complete! :smt046
  20. Maybe, but Saints are more likely to catch Colchester if they pick up a point (or three) at Leeds as opposed to picking up none.
  21. MLT slagged off your lord and master Lowe: ergo, he's not a legend. I think you may need to reconsider Channon's legendary status: MICK CHANNON has blamed chairman Rupert Lowe for Southampton's huge turnover in managers following Strachan's decision to quit. "Every time we get a manager who looks like moving the club on we lose him. As a supporter of the club I have to ask Rupert Lowe why." http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4161/is_20040118/ai_n9716183/ http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/article2393057.ece
  22. Ah, but Wimbledon relocated after suffering relegation. I suspect the two events were not unconnected. Relegation can lead to something worse than relocation: administration and winding up. I wouldn't wish that on any team..... with one notable exception.
