For players who are worth anything that's always true (Clyne being an obvious example). No club wants to lose a decent transfer fee for a player running out his contract. But there's not much financial reason to worry about a manager running down his contract (I doubt compensation for him leaving for Everton was significant). Of course if the manager is crap it's a bonus if some mug takes him off your hands (Whisky George, thank you Scotland). Or if a decent manager loses interest or goes off the rails and does his best to get sacked (Mourinho). RK got a better offer and the club wasn't willing to back him. My guess if Everton hadn't come in he would've run down his contract.

Charlie George.

He may have been boring, but I don't think anyone underrated him. 6 world snooker championships is nothing to sneeze at.

So when the Greenland glacier slides into the ocean Saints will have to ground share at Krap Nottarf?

The first, but not the only one. Unless you count penalty shootouts as conceding, which is a bit unfair. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_FA_Cup_Final

Apart from his money, hair and looks I don't know what she sees in him. Maybe it's his personality.

The mortality rate for the flu is about 0.1%. Covid-19 is about 20 times that according to estimates. But the BIG difference is that only about 1% of flu patients need hospitalisation, whereas about 20% of Covid-19 patients do. Which means left unchecked this will bring health care to its knees (and mortality rates will then skyrocket with no beds or ventilators for most of the severe cases). Hence the desperate need to "flatten the curve" which we've all heard about. To make things worse, Covid-19 appears to be 2 to 4 time more infectious as the flu. Nothing OTT about it. Ask Italy.

Agreed the lower league ones are in bigger danger. But most premier clubs have massive wage bills (ours is £75 million I think). If there is no PL money for a year how do those clubs pay their players?
-
To prevent a shitload of them going into administration, maybe.

A guess based on a vaccine taking at least a year. If this goes on until the end of the year then next season would probably be scrapped, which would leave it until the spring to resume this one. Many clubs would go under, but so will innumerable businesses. Think 1929 level of a cluster****. As I said, I hope I'm wrong.
-
Yes indeed. And my guess (hope I'm wrong) it'll take a year before sports start again. Maybe this time next year they'll resume this season (along with the CL etc) and then have Euro 2021 straight after. If so, a lot of the smaller clubs will go under, but they won't be the only ones. It's going to be a global economic cluster**** for a long time I think.

The Sunday Times - Southampton put up for sale at £250m

If I were selling my house or car I would advertise and try to get as many people interested as possible. Perhaps it works differently when trying to sell a football club, keep it a secret from as many people as possible in order to find a buyer? -
Euro 2020 is almost certainly off, maybe to be played in 2021. One possibility is to postpone all leagues until the middle of the summer, and see if it can be finished then. With a delayed start of the next season if the current one can be finished in the summer. If so, eliminate the League cup to reduce matches next season, and no FA cup replays.

That's because the 110 minute quarantine was over.

Dotard is one step ahead of you.

Poor Spurs. I almost got a tear in my eye.

Note to self: next time I see someone in public wearing a mask I'll give them a hug and say thank you.

Probably not much. Latest from physio room: Mar 02: "We know the issue we have got. Unfortunately, we can't seem to get him right. It is nothing to do with his ankle. It is frustrating but we hope he is back in the next couple of weeks."

Guido Carrillo - Official: Free Transfer to Elche

His first league goal of the season, I believe. Give enough donkeys enough footballs .... -
Andy Carroll is just back from injury it seems. So off the bench to get a couple of headed goals, and then go off injured again for 6 months?
-
Depends if we've lost our previous match.
-
Even if they are, the fans are seated so far away at their stadium that their players won't even notice. Edit: MLG beat me to it.
-
Knowing our luck he'll be fit by the time we play Newcastle, and provide the cross for Carroll's headed winning goal.

Yes indeed. You can bet your house on it.
