  1. I Watched Gary Hooper Star for Celtic Yesterday , Best player on the park by a mile so if we get promotion I hope we go back in for him. He would probably move for premiership football and IMO £8/10 million would be well spent.
  2. I saw him play for Celtic last year , He is well past it,not even worth considering IMO.
  3. All about opinions , IMHO we wont see much of Barnard or Connoly in the first team squad for the rest of the seson.
  4. We will need extra firepower in the premier if we make it and it would also not be a bad idea for the rest of this season
  5. There is a Story in the Scottish Sun this morning about Gary Hooper going to Zenit St Petersburg or Moscow for £7 million which they say is the figure Celtic want. Surely it would be worth us upping our offer to £7 million if it meant we had him as part of our plans for next season. If we make it to the prem we will need several top quality strikers. Time to dig deep Nicola ?
  6. If it takes 10 million it would be worth it for Hooper , Puncheon part ex at £1million makes it a net £9million. I would call that good deal and increase our chances of winning the title by ten fold.
  7. I am a Fan of both Saints and Celtic and if saints are really interested in Gary Hooper you are looking at £5million plus, Hooper is a class act better than Sharpe , Maynard , JRod , Juke or any of the other names linked. He would be fantastic for Saints as the majority of his goals are from being fed by fast wingmen( Lallana, De Ridder , Richardson & Fox) or 6 yard box poaching from knock downs (RL ) As everyone says Adkins knows him well and he is one to get us promotion and on into the prem , Doubt it will happen though. Note to Cortese if you spend about £7Mill of OC transfer money you might get Hooper and Commons and then Saints would be odds on to be Champions
  8. Goodwillie Dundee United to Blackburn in the last transfer window
  9. On his day Commons is a fantastic player , Last season he was great at Celtic , This season hasn't put in many appearances due to Injury mainly but also he doesn't always see eye to eye with Niel Lennon. He could just be a good buy if the price is right and he fancies getting to the premiership with saints. On top form I would say he is as good as anything we have.
  10. Happy New Year to all saints fans , Keep Believing we can do it, the the league will be won this year on about 80points with everyone taking points from each other. We will do it, that is a new year prediction from a old saints fan who has supported them for over 60 years
  11. Spoken to my contact at Celtic this evening, who first told me Jos was coming in and for which the majority on here were underwhelmed (what a difference now in a few short months), Said fee was set at £1.4million. Also said Lennon wished Jos all the luck in the world and wasn't to chuffed at him going as he was looking forward to getting him back in Jan. Lennon has a priority for 2 centre halves when window opens.
  12. I think Big Sam is after a bluff with those throw away comments, He is not daft enough to give anything away on the telly and I think our Nigel is to wise to even consider those comments and will just do his own thing regardless of wether Big Sam plays 451 or 442. Nigel knows that if we perform to our best with whatever formation he plays we are more than capable of beating WHU at St Marys , Even without Adam, but I hope he is fit.
  13. I dont understand some of these panicky quotes , If we need a different striker option we could always play Lallana up front and bring Holmes in left midfield, In fact it would not surprise me to see Holmes involved at Derby being as though he has a point to prove up there. I think our present squad gives us plenty of Mix & Match options without the need for any panic loans , January is the time to boost the squad if we need to. Keep the faith & trust Nigel
  14. Off course we are not afraid of success , After all the years we spent in the top division watching some great football what is there to be afraid of, Hopefully our leaders have the Ambition that they state and get us back to the PL asap, This season is not to soon for me and if we spend a few bob in January to ensure the success great, as they say you have to speculate to accumalate. The only place to play your football is the premier league where the financial rewards are terrific even for the less glamourous clubs. COYR we can do this this season.
  15. For some of us that are old & disabled it is great to watch our beloved Saints on sky , Wish they showed a lot more of Saints games Live
  16. I was never very keen on the Poles when we had them
  17. make that +1
  18. I have seen JH play on a few occassions and I think he will definately start on Saturday , I will be very surprised if NA dont think the same.
  19. Totally Agree , He is worth a punt if he is prepared to apply himself to the present Team togetherness and wants to be on our bus.
  20. I am just back home and catching up with this thread which I left last night. I have been in Glasgow and Caught up this evening with a pal in Glasgow who works in public relations with Celtic. He told me Saints had been enquiring about JH for a while but were not overkeen on Celtics valuation of £2mill. Hence the reason it became a deadline day loan signing as Lennon wants rid and it was decided by the club that Saints could take him on a try before you buy basis. He also said that if he is a player that makes it at SFC , and he see's no reason to think he wont, then he will cost Saints big money in January. Also interestingly he said we made enquiries about Samaras but sammy wasn't interested in Saints. Make of it what you will
  21. That is total nonsense , There are a list of them that are worse than JH , Including the present holders of Centre Half shirts in Mastorjvic and Loovens. That is from someone who watches most of Celtics games
  22. As A Celtic Fan as well as a Saints fan I cannot believe the negativity over this signing. All this bullshot about him being 4th or 5th choice centre half at Celtic is total carp. When Lennon took over Jos had a bad injury and even when he was fit again Lennon didn't fancy him and often played others out of position at centre half. As I mentioned earlier JH found himself in a similar position to Fish Mills at St Marys, He was always going to be down the pecking order in his position in the eyes of his manager no matter what he did, I can recall him playing against Rangers last season and being one of the stars for Celtic. From the little I know about him he is a good lad who will fit in well with the guys at St Marys and I fully expect a few on here to be eating humble pie in a few games. Give the lad a chance you are going to be pleasently surprised.
  23. As a Celtic fan I can tell you he is not as bad as is being said , Struggled a bit with injury early in his Celtic career but has always shown plenty of potential. His biggest problem is that Lennon never really fancied him and so didn't give him a fair crack at first team football , reminds me a bit of the "Fish" Mills situation at St Marys. Good enough player but not in favour with his present employer. I think he is fairly experienced for a young player and we could do worse than sign him. As others have said , Nigel could make him a Top player in the NPC. I should also add he is a genuine centre half , That is his position

    Pardew

Pardew put in the foundations of what we have now so for that alone he deserves our respect and thanks, Whatever caused the fall out between him and NC we will probably never know but football wise he did a good job for Saints. Good Luck with Newcastle Pards.
  25. As someone who saw Fox play most of his Celtic games I would say this , He is a very good left back and I cant remember him ever letting anyone down , I can also remember thinking how strange it was when Celtic let him go as he seemed a vital part of the team at that time. My overiding question seems to be is he any better than Harding , I dont think he is, personally I dont think there is much between them so I view this as a strange signing, Dont get me wrong Danny Fox is a good player to have in the squad but I dont know how often he will play if Dan Harding is on form.
