I do not disagree with the sentiment but surely that is the sort of statement that applys to every footballer and a lot more beside.
-
Exactly my feelings , he must be one of the highest paid in the first team squad and he needs someone or something to kickstart him.As I said there is a class footballer there somewhere. I watched him a couple of seasons ago at Celtic park when he played for Aalborg in the european cup and he was sheer class.

Seems to be a general feeling that we dont want him so get rid , I guess it depends on the guys make up and attitude. I just think it must be really difficult for him, less than 2 month ago he was playing International football and believing he would be going to the world cup and now he seems not wanted by a English third tier club , whilst I agree he has done very little recently I cannot help but feel there is still a good player there somewhere and with the right motivators could still be a quality player for SFC. I dont agree with those that say he is rubbish , You dont play for a team like Poland if you are rubbish , Lost his form , Lost his enthusiasm, Lost his way, yes probably but I wouldn't write him off yet.

I am just wondering how Marek must be feeling at the moment, He has had a very poor start to the season couldn't buy a goal and must be very dissappointed that Poland failed to Qualify for the World cup and now last Saturday cant even make the bench. For a experienced International Striker he must feel pretty down at the moment, especially with the euphoria over Connolly. Should he stay and fight for a place or just move on?

Great player for Saints, Fondly remember his superb display at White Hart Lane when we thumped Forest 5-0 in the second replay of the fa cup after a 1-1 at Forest and 3-3 at the Dell. If my memory serves me right I think he scored one maybe two but I remenber how he ran the game. Great Inside Left R.I.P. Saint Dave

Where do you expect Saints to finish this season?
saintstr1 replied to Pancake's topic in The Saints
Ask the question again in a months time and we will have a better idea, Winning three on the spin is great but if we could extend that sequence to six or seven then maybe we can be contenders. Big ,Big game against the MK this week and I for one wont give up on a play off place this season yet. -
McMenemy - one of the UK's most successful managers?
saintstr1 replied to Nineteen Canteen's topic in The Saints
As someone who supported saints throughout the Bates/McMenemy era I see nothing strange in Guinness regarding Lawrie as one of the top 20 managers. In his heyday Lawrie achieved a lot with what was at the time a small unfashionable club. His teams played attractive football that was a joy to watch.Winning the FA cup and finishing runners up in the old First division were extremely big achievments for a club like the Saints. As for Lawrie himself always very personable and a joy to listen to, knew his football inside out which was why he was so respected by the likes of Ball, Osgood , Keegan , Channon ,Shilton and many many more. If Lawrie is topping up his pension with after dinner speaking then very good luck to him,I have had the pleasure of meeting Lawrie on a couple of occassions and have found him to be a great ambassador for football in general and Southampton Football Club in particular. If some of the people in recent years who were supposedly the custodians of SFC had half of Lawries football knowledge and personality we would still be a premiership club . So NC do yourself a favour and attend one of the functions that Lawrie is speaking at, I guarantee you will not only be entertained but also you might learn something about football. Rant over from another old coger just like Lawrie, -
Sorry but I heard it differently , He was sold on the belief that he was helping the club he loved so much, Hence the reason he can not fit in at Wolves, his heart is not in it. I bet he wishes ML had come on the scene a little quicker or should that be FRY had sorted things out better by going Swiss before he did. Either way I think you will find that Andrew Surman was the sacrificial cow.
-
Totally disagree , Top class prospect but he is at a club he has no feelings or interest in.There is a world of difference between a bad footballer and a unmotivated footballer.

I do not think that Drew ever wanted to leave, Fry and the clubs finacial position forced him out during the Takeover Debacle. I think Drew will always be a Southampton boy and probably thinks he did his bit to save SFC by moving and bringing in a million pounds when the club was desperate for funds, and I agree he did. But I am sure he now thinks it was a bad move and would come back to SFC in a second, given the chance. Why do we not try to at least get him back on loan and see what happens.
-
Why are folks getting there knickers in a twist , I read O'Callaghans quote as being pretty dam near the truth, Good riddance Lowe, Better times at St Marys.. Hence increase in the support.......... Rocket science it aint.

I think we have started to gell as a unit and the only thing that is stopping us from winning is the Confidence/Mental factor. We have several times this season got the opening goal but seem unable to move on from that. AP needs to make sure that we press on once we get a lead, 1-0 or even 2-0 is not enough to guarantee a win in professional football these days, especially with a group of players low on confidence.
-
My Initial thoughts all week were that we could get a Draw , But for some reason this morning I think we might just edge it 1-2. Hope Jaidi & Papa live up to all the hype.
-
I think it is now time to maybe play a bit more adventurous , Especially with the players we have and so I would like to see us playing a 4-3-3 or a flexible 4-4-2. Davis Thomas. Jaidi. Trotman. Harding Waigo. James. Hammond. Holmes Saga. Lambert Subs:- Bialkowski , Perry , Lallana , Schniederlin , Mellis , Mills, Patterson
-
Bottom Line is that the original poster is 100% correct, There are more than enough points left to play for this season to make it a successfull one. That is what should be being preached to the players ...... Positive Thinking.
-
If you think Flo was a superior player to Johansson then I dont rate your judgement , Flo has been Carp wherever he has gone. Absolute Garbagge when he played in Scotland for Rangers.
-
Hibs have a new manager this year who obviously dont rate him , just like AP don't rate Gillett , It Happens.
-
Finnish , Danish , Whatever ........ Still a very experienced world class forward & I doubt his wage demands wouldn't be to high...... Did he not play at Chalton at one time ? , Under Pards ??
-
IMO ,If the new boys are cleared to play on Saturday then I think 22,000 + is not out of the question.
-
I assume Pards has his ear to the ground with regard to Scottish Teams but he might be interested to know that Danish International Winger Jonaten Johansson was released by Hibs last night and is now a free agent looking for a new club. Ok he is the wrong side of thirty now but a clever player with a good cross who also scores goals, May still be good for League one
-
Very Happy with everything with Pardew , Certainly seems to be giving the job all he as got and for my money is makeing Excellent signings. Just hope it is not to long before we can get them playing as a team and picking up the results.
-
Thought he was great for Newcastle tonight , Good assist for the goal , Good hold up play , Strong and worked very hard. Wish he was still a Saint.
-
I heard one of them is interesting CREWE (Cut)

Nobody in there right mind who has watched the team last season would say that Wotton is a better bet than Gillett. Wotton is way past his best and so one dimensional, where as Gillett is still learning but offers much more to the team over all. Of more concern I think is the love in a lot of saints fan have with Lallana , For my money he is totally overated and not worth even a place on the bench. He did very little last season and from what I have seen & read this season he is doing even less. IMHO 90% of our problems at the moment stem from a weak midfield , No creative playmaker , No pace , No Width , No defensive cover , Sorting out the midfield has to be the priority.

I am Sure JPS would be relatively cheap so has to be worth a one year contract , Hope somebody alerts AP
