He's only 21, seems to have lots of pace, decent dribbling and a good shot. He's also performed well in the prem in a poor team. If the price was right I'd have him, gives us a left footed option to play left wing for some variety as well.
-
Absolutely chuffed for him, hope he gets more than a quick cameo and gets to show what he can do.

Who is to blame for the Summer of inactivity?
tajjuk replied to Unbelievable Jeff's topic in The Saints
Notice as usual when BS's nonsense gets pointed out to be fluff his response goes missing. We buy two players who would improve most teams below Liverpool and Sunderland sign anyone with legs (worked for QPR) and apparently they have 'bought well on paper' -
You've never successfully told anyone, anything, ever, unless we are counting BS.

Bale would still be here if then was now - says Ward-Prowse

Chambers to Chelsea? since when? -
Cornelius, some keeper, some Derby right back and now Caulker. So like two real signings

First off they haven't signed Quigerella they are just linked. Secondly they only have 3 strikers, Van Wolfswinkel, Hooper and Bechhio. None of whom have played in the Premier League or in Europes top 5 leagues so all are a gamble. Hooper and Bechio are Championship level strikers, Thirdly, strikers are well and good but their only decent midfielder is Snodgrass, our midfield is much better. Fourthly we will sign a striker.

He's got to be on at least £30 - 40k a week I would have thought, so yeh doubling his wages we are getting into the £80k bracket.

Then its a loaded question seeing as until last year we hadn't been in the Premier League for a while. We have bought domestically, which is what that article is really talking about a lot what with Cork, Sharp, Jay Rod and Clyne all joining. Not many Prem players will move to a newly promoted team unless they are struggling for game time.
-
Nice article and from the videos and pictures team spirit seems to be good. The key point though I think is about the preparation and our pre-season, whilst other clubs are off promoting themselves around the world playing on terrible pitches in asia our team are hard at work away from the limelight.

They also sold their best player and another first teamer in Song. The equivalent of us selling Lambert and Morgan. We have only sold one and released some, none of whom had much impact at first team level last year, Remember this is a team that showed a lot of promising performances against supposed better teams, I would imagine MPO just wants more consistency form the team and that will bring an automatic improvement in our league position and points tally without additions. Look at our negatives from last year:- - Poor start partially down to lack of premiership experience - Weak in the left back position early on - Changes in the goalkeeping department that directly led to points dropped and probably poor confidence from defenders. - Missing a key midfielder at the start of the season - Ending the season struggling to score, a lot probably from relying too much on Lambert - Weakness in central defence, recognised by most pundits as our weakest area Yeh we could always add more but it;s not like our squad was terrible last year, most of our worst play came in the first 10 games due to the above reasons. The squad itself was good enough to just shy of the top 10, add in the 3 key signings we should be able to push into the top 10.

The Inter chairman though thinks he can do this by staying with Inter, and I suppose he has a point considering he was getting picked based on his Inter performances before he got injured. The Brazil national team seems to pick more form the domestic game than it used to. Basically if Spurs get Soldado, I think we are in a straight fight out with Zenit. I reckon pay wise they will probably offer him more and they have a better chance of European football. The Premier League though is a massive draw over the Russian league, plus I think it might be the only occasion Britain might win climate wise! Another factor might be that the Russian league runs during the world cup so he won't be playing much football in the run up to it. I also can't see Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea etc going for him they are looking for a higher calibre player. Other teams like Valencia or Inter Milan I don't think have the funds.
-
Yep there are quite a few examples of this like the video of him at the U20 world cup rifling in those volleys with either foot, also in the video in pre-season of Jay Rod making a complete hash of free-kicks, JWP steps up and just smashes the ball in. Definitely has good technical skills and seems to be comfortable with both feet as well. I just think last year he was used in a defensive role which due to his size doesn't suit him, he's more an attacking mid. Looks like Isgrove and Chambers will play a role this year as well, maybe Isgroves development and pace is why we haven't looked for more wide players?
-
Apparently Liverpool are trying to Hijack Spur's deal for Soldado to replace Suarez. Might impact us either way on this deal although nothing linking Liverpool with Damiao.
-
I think he's going to be the other 'main target' as mentioned by Cortese, MP talked openly about him in an interview, plus there are plenty of links and have been for a while. He also fits our profile better than Osvaldo The Napoli option is probably gone, they have just spent 37 million on a striker, are they going to spend another 25 million on Damiao? More likely they will pick up an Italian like Gilardino for a smaller fee. So that leaves probably Spurs or Zenit, Zenit will throw money at him but the Russian league is not that an attractive proposition, he can probably go talk to Hulk about it. Like someone above said, if Spurs sign a striker we might be there,
-
He's a very good player, good movement, good first touch and close control, pretty much either footed, good vision and passer. Two weaknesses really lack of pace and shooting lets him down. Like the above never really been convinced winger is his best position, mainly because of the pace, he's only effective out wide when we are on the front foot and near the opposition box because there can beat a man, get into space round the box and create something. When he's deeper he'll beat a man but go nowhere because he will get caught again so will spend a lot of the time passing sideways and backwards. It also means if he;s on the attack he simply can't track that well because a lot of fullbacks out pace him. I think he'd be good in the hole. Maybe Gaston and Him to battle it out for that spot next year but we'd need another wide option.
-
More "We Would like a lot of money please"
-
Why is he only £8 million now to Fulham? not like £20 million as he seemed to be earlier?
-
itll be Gaston, even if he plays well I'm pretty sure some people have already made their minds up on him.
-
Are Real going to spend more than £50 million to buy Suarez? That is what Liverpool seem to be saying, the rejected £40 million from Arsenal apparently and think Suarez should be going for Cavani money.
-
Not really true at all, most players unless they are wholly unprofessional will improve over time, some though just start at way too high a level. Youngsters might play in the youth teams of Utd but not be good enough but then drop down into the lower leagues get more game time and improve from there to their max level. In our own squad we have Lallana, Shaw, JWP, Clyne, Cork, Puncheon, Lambert etc. are all examples of players that have improve their game since they first stating appearing for us. they range from 18 to 31, yet all have improved so you your 'statistic' is just made up nonsense.
-
^ Dzeko is wanted by Napoli, plus I would reckon Man city want to keep him. He'd also be perfect to replace Levandowski at Dortmund if that transfer sage gets sorted. Plenty of clubs better than us would be after Dzeko.
-
Can we stick to just the transfer rumour?, the assessment of Gaston has been done to death and frankly he needs to play more games to either prove the doubters wrong or confirm their comments, at the moment we are exactly where we were months ago. There is no way Cortese will sell him at a loss and I don't think Inter have the cash to pay £15-17 million up front for a player.
-
What am I going to comment in detail on the others? Yeh he's been good last season, might be bad next year. If he's bad next season is it then a bad signing? My finishing comment also applied to ALL transfers mentioned. I just didn't see much point in going into detail for the supposed 'good' ones. The OP is also obviously slanted to post a negative picture of the transfer committee, hence the inclusion of the likes of N'Guessan.
-
The only bad transfer is Forren, who we made a loss on and we don't know the reasons behind it Simply you can't judge transfers on one season especially if they are young players. Morgan is our own example of this.
