  1. His right are split between Internacional and Hermann Aichinger (a small Santa Catarina club).
  2. Yep, He's very much correct Muniesa is not a 'wow' signing. Maybe if he was 17/18 but he's 21 now and hasn't progressed as much as Barca wanted or needed. He may become a good player in the future given some games but I doubt he'd make our first team and I doubt he'll make Stokes to be honest. Most of his experience is from Spanish second division football. I doubt any centre-back we signed from the championship would be a wow signing. Jordi Amat, who is the same age and also Spanish is a much better signing IMO for Swansea, they've already got De Guzman back on loan if they get Bony as well they will have a very decent squad next year.
  3. Pace is overated, it's doing things well at pace that is real quality. Neymar isn't as quick as Walcott but he can do skills, tricks and run at people at top speed whilst retaining good control of the ball. Plus some defences in the league are very slow, Lambert darted in behind the Liverpool defence pretty easily. He's not going to jink though defence like say Suarez can but he can still easily lead the line, we just need better players out wide with better movement. Puncheon scored some good goals last year but was also terribly predictable in some games, Lallana never really hit form after his injury and Gaston isn't that comfortable on the wing. The period where Jay Rod was in form showed what Lambert can do in that sort of partnership, their link up play was excellent but it only lasted a 5 or 6 games. jay Rod lost form and Lambert played with a knock that clearly held him back. This is a guy who can easily bring long balls down and bring people into play like Fellaini does for Everton and like a typical no. 9. He then has good vision, touch and technique to play like a no 10. as well. If you have good movement around him then you will utilise his strengths. A well executed one two pass can make any defence look flat footed more than any speed merchant. Raw pace helps a lot more if you are playing a more counter-attacking style like Mourinho's Madrid did so successfully the season before last or like West Brom did to us at home. We can occasionally do that with Jay Rod, who can move at top pace with the ball and also has the strength and balance to brush off challenges. The way our team is set up to play actually needs quick minds, quick feet and good technique more than raw pace.
  4. Does this thread still need to be opened and a sticky? If you like it buy it, if you don't like it, don't buy it. Nothing is going to change now until next season.
  5. Juventus have just signed Tevez and Llorente, they won't be signing any more strikers.
  6. Thing is we have no idea about any of this, the rumours that come out half of them seem to be made up. We've been linked with Naingollan and Osvaldo for ages saying bids have been made but then other people people come out and say we haven't bid. I would reckon by Cortese's handling of most things he tries to keep the information as quiet as possible. All the stuff about Wanyama came out a good two weeks after it had all happened, and really we only started to hear about it because it broke down. So half the time we are getting linked to 'unrealistic' targets by the press and rumour mill, probably by agent's leaking stuff. Generally in transfers these days a buying club will sound out with the player's agent first whether there is possible interest and they probably get an idea about salary etc, you then go from there to agreeing a deal with the selling club, then once you go back to the player to confirm the contract. So for example IF we have bid for Damiao, then then I think there might be some interest on his side for us to make the bid. Like Wanyama though the agent could just be using us to lure bigger clubs into making the bid so the player gets his preferred destination. I reckon Wesley Sneijder ended up at Galatassaray this way. I reckon they contacted the agent, put a massive contract on the table, the agent basically agrees in principle, leaks that Sneijder is ready to leave, Gala have made a bid etc. He then expected the likes of Man Utd or Real Madrid etc. to come and match the bid, but they either didn't or wouldn't take the wages. So Sneijder ends up at a club he probably didn't want to go to but gets to play (which he wasn't at Inter) and still gets his massive wage.
  7. I'd find it very odd that firstly after signing a new contract, secondly all the talking up of the club Morgan has done recently he would go to Sociedad, who lets be honest are unlikely to be regulars in the Champions League and may not even get past the qualifying rounds (doubt they will have a seeding). If it was someone like PSG or Madrid or Arsenal etc. then yeh I could see him wanting to go but Sociedad aren't even the biggest Basque club were in the second division a few seasons ago, would seem a sideways move to me. Also he'd go for more than 12 million euros.
  8. Nope, don't believe it.
  9. I really like it, always liked black kits and think it looks smart.
  10. Pretty sure Adidas set the prices btw. I'm not really bothered, it looks a lot better than the leaked pics and I think I might buy an away one. It's just a same that Adidas just do all these templates now, it;s been picked up by a lot of the other Adidas clubs. Maybe club execs will start having a word with Adidas for future kits and we'll see them design a few more bespoke ones like Nike do, otherwise they might loose a few contracts.
  11. I don't hate it, it's ok. Think I'll buy an away one though, really like that.
  12. BTW obviously the leaked Shirt was correct, from what I have just heard the the guy that took the photo has lost his job, he was part of the courier company responsible for delivering the shirts and obviously opened one of the boxes to take the photo. (which they aren't supposed to do). The reason the badge is on wonky is because it happens to be a faulty shirt.
  13. If we sign a couple of high profile players I doubt people will care about the kit. Cardiff fans went rather quiet about the whole change from blue after they got promotion.
  14. Have we, in fact has any club ever announced a new signings with alongside a new kit?
  15. So someone playing games? Bought a template shirt, plonked it on a big box to make it look like it's one of the first batch and then photo shopped in the Saints related stuff?
  16. Glad someone else noticed. That is quite obviously a template that someone has printed onto.
  17. There is nothing to suggest that the player himself doesn't want to join us, it all seems to be the over the top agent fees. The kid is just putting too much faith in the agent that's all.
  18. Tevez apparently cost £47 million to acquire his full ownership and his wages with bonuses cost City £327k a week. By selling him they free up over £17 million for the next year.
  19. LMAO. Loving your work MLG.
  20. Apologies Itchen. No one said that. Stop being so obtuse. Gaston certainly came here because we gave him a very good financial offer, that much is clear. I don't think that is the only reason and his other comments would support that. What is not clear is that amount of wages that constitutes "They give me so much money". We don't know the true figure but as many have suggested even on 50k a eek with us that could have more than tripled his wages. Fact is you rubbished people who said he wasn't on 65k a week by using his comments to prove them wrong, but he never stated any figures. Which means in this case Turkish you are............... You will just have to accept it. Now lets please get back on topic.
  21. No they didn't, it's written quite cleverly as it looks like that is what Gaston has said, plus they are allowed to speculate on story as long as it isn't libellous and they don't have to state that or word it like believed to be or rumoured to be. That's newspaper reports, they hardly ever just report on the cold hard facts, they spice the stories up to make them interesting where they can. He may well be on 65k a week, as I said I don't know. But he didn't say that he was, an Italian Newspaper suggested he was. As I said I think it's telling that several British Newspapers choose not to include that figure in their own versions of the story. So if people on here are saying we don't have a player on over 50k a week they may well be telling the truth, not that I have any idea how they would know that. I would presume only some accountants, Gaston, his agent and Cortese probably know the true figure. All I know is you can't dismiss their claims by saying Gaston said he was on that amount as he clearly didn't. Fair play for spotting it, I've looked at that article several times and took it as a Gaston quote. It's only now after you have pointed it out that it looks wrong, obviously the brackets but also how it is worded and the fact that a footballer would openly discuss a contract offer. From subsequent interviews with Gaston I don't think he is stupid enough to say that and it wouldn't go down too well with the fans either. The sentence - Makes a lot more sense.
  22. That's not what I said, it's probably an educated guess on their part or Gaston/his agent hinted at an amount off the record and the reporter then went from there. I don't really know, but you said that if Gaston isn't on 65k a week like others were saying then he is lying, well he isn't. If he directly said "they pay me so much money, 2 million euros net per year" then it would have been a direct quote and there would have been no brackets there. Simply because those figures are in brackets means He didn't tell that journalist, in that interview, that the contract offer was 2 million euros net a year. Certainly not on the record and if they attributed that quote to him and he didn't say it it that paper would be in trouble. If he had said that then they could have simply left the whole sentence in quotation marks as it would have been a word for word quote and they wouldn't have missed that opportunity. I have a mate who is a financial journalist and he's explained to me before what they can and can't do. I would presume the rules are pretty similar in Italy.
  23. Well that's lazy linking. The original article in the Corrier dello Sport, who did the original interview with Gaston does not have himsaying how much Saints were offering him. They (Corrier dello Sport) then add a figure next to the quote. Where they get that figure from I don't know but I can't find ANY evidence that Gaston said he was on 2 million net euros. He didn't tell them that otherwise they would have quoted him and I doubt the agent or Cortese would have told them, considering how Cortese conducts his business. That suggested figure is obviously not that well trusted because several of the other Newspapers articles pick up on the same quote but don't include the figures mentioned. The other sites all quote the same amount because they are all basing it on that one article and that one interview with Gaston. The only mention of this 2 million NET Euros figure is from the Corrier dello Sport and no where else. Personally I think they are guessing, I have never seen a footballer disclose his wages. I think they put that figure their to add weight to his comments so the reader can rationale them.
  24. Actually virtually none of the articles quote him as saying that. He said "They give me so much money, that I put in my life and the whole family". Well that's the translation from Italian. No figures though. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/southampton/9482694/Southampton-close-to-signing-Bologna-winger-Gaston-Ramirez.html That article for example has the quote as - different in the mail - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2189687/Gaston-Ramirez-confirms-Southampton-move.html The Metro said - http://metro.co.uk/2012/08/17/gaston-ramirez-snubs-spurs-and-liverpool-to-sign-for-southampton-540202/ And finally Corrier dello Sport -http://www.corrieredellosport.it/calcio/calcio_mercato/2012/08/17-259600/Ramirez+al+Southampton.+Bologna%2C+giusto+cederlo%3F So at no point does Gaston actually say that is the contract. From what I understand of Italian wages, think someone posted something the other day he could have been on as little as 15k a week, so 45k a week would be 'so much money'.
  25. before Turkish corrects you......... I'm sure we went through this before and it made his wage around £65k a week. However as Trousers pointed out the original source article for that interview put the figure in brackets suggesting Gaston didn't actually say how much Saints were offering him and the newspaper sourced that information from elsewhere or speculated it. So Gaston wasn't lying because he probably never stated the actual figure, nor does virtually any footballer.
