  1. it tweeted? someone tweeted? Does Gaston even have twitter?
  2. Isn't he in Brazil preparing for the confed cup? Why would he hand a in a transfer request?
  3. If you read the BSports methodology they rank things on efficiency so something like pass completion will get a high rating. Morgan will have attempted a lot of tackles and interceptions in the season, someone else might have done less but been more successful. it's a flawed system as people don't buy footballers on efficiency. It shows why for example Andy Carroll has got in the top 10 strikers, he wins a huge amount of headers. Does it make him a good player? no, not really but statistically he will be very efficient at winning headers so gets a high rating. yet the rating has him at virtually the same level as Michu last year. Anyone who actually watches football would know who they would want in their team out of those two. It also has Torres in the top 10 which says it all really.
  4. I believe Turkish said 'fast', John Terry is many things but he is not fast, although he does prove that top level defenders don't need to be quick. Easily take JT the centre-back, if JT the man did come with him.
  5. I don't think he's naturally that player, he's an attacking midfielder. We saw glimpses of it in cameos towards the end of the season as he was making bursts into the box, he seems to have a good eye for a pass, is comfortable in possession and seems decent with both feet. As he gets games he'll start creating and scoring goals more with some confidence. As you say though he's 18, we're expecting far too much probably because of Shaw. For example Ross Barkley is highly rated as a prospect, is only 19 and has only notched up a handful of appearances for Everton. A kid starts playing in the PL at 18 and people think he's going to be like Rooney, most young players don't establish themselves until 21/22.
  6. Barca are currently THE model for homegrown talent. They only have 8 non-spanish players out of 23 man first team squad and 12 of them are products from their academy (excluding Messi), although some were bought back like Pique and Fabregas. Although Pochettino is an Espanyol legend, the club as a whole have made no secret of using Barcelona as an example to follow when it comes to youth development, I think Cortese has mentioned them several times, the club went training there just recently, their youth coaches have been over to our academy to share ideas and I think saints coaches have gone there as well. I would reckon most of our links currently our foreign players because Poch knows those leagues better and the economic state of of both Spain and Italy, especially the clubs just below the top ones means that Saints can punch a bit above their weight in terms of transfers. If there is some good young talent available though in the lower leagues I expect us to be looking at it, we have just recently bought Cork, Clyne and Jay Rod, all English. We have also been linked with Buckley recently and have just signed a teenage youth prospect. I don't think we are suddenly going to become like Chelsea and field an all foreign line up.
  7. On a free with decent wages then yeh I think it would be a good sining. i'd certainly be more confident in him than Fox. As Turkish points out though he was happy to sit on big wages not playing at both City and Chelsea, he went on loan a few times but still picked up those wages. It depends if he has a desire to play or just wants money. I would reckon that girl from the saturdays would want to live in London.
  8. We could also do some sort of link with Kinder.
  9. I was going to make a bet that you would post something like this but the bookies aren't taking any bets on it as you have become too predictable. Seems to a win a lot of freekicks, we would need a new set piece taker to take advantage.
  10. Sounds like a crap situation and poor form by the club, I hope they get it sorted out for you and your dad.
  11. LOL the fact that you constantly refer to the forum as 'mong board' about sums up your input, the only 'mongs' as you put it are people like yourself.
  12. Yeh he must have agreed to those players, same with owners, they must have signed the cheques or given far too much autonomy to Camolli, none of them were terrible signings, just the massive prces that made them absurd. Henderson and Downing have recovered a bit under Rodgers, in fact I think Liverpool fans quite like Henderson. Doni actually went AWOL, Bellamy was fairly average but at least he was a free. Coates has barely played, Adam was shifted of to Stoke and has become a bad signing for them. Even Enrique looks like he's going. A pretty bad list of signings. Total cost on those transfers £92 million
  13. ^ Clyne doesn't count, same reason McManaman didn't for Wigan.
  14. ^ Walcott is 24 so he wouldn't count. The ox yes, the rest of Arsenal's numbers will be from Wilshere and Jenkinson. It does somewhat paint a false picture of Arsenal, as they only have 5 English players in their whole squad, just happens that they are all 24 or under. I doubt Liverpools numbers will be that high next year, they had to play some of those players throuhg bad signings and injury, but I doubt Shelvey, Wisdom and Kelly will see much game time next year, only really Stirling. Ours will go up if Shaw and JWP play more as thinking about it Clyne doesn't count as he is already 22.
  15. McManaman is now 22. He can play in the Euro U21s because it counts when the qualifying started which was 2 years ago so I think there are some players at the tournament who are 23.
  16. ^ He's the only one they have played this year. Uploaded with ImageShack.us http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22738219
  17. That would be Comollli - Laughably the section above that on Wiki says LOL.
  18. They have English youth players, but they don't play them in PL games. That's percentage of on-field first team time by nationals (of that country) under 21, basically giving young players opportunities in the first team. So an U21 German player is likely to get around 3 times the amount of game time over a season n the Bundesliga than an English U21 player is going to get in the Premier league. That will then translate into how players then make the step up as first team regulars so in Germany for example 55.4% of players in the Bundesliga are German, whereas Opta reckon just 36% of Premier League players are English. The article doesn't mention Saints directly however only 35 English under-21s have appeared in the premier league this season and Saints have 3 of them in Clyne, Shaw, and James Ward Prowse who had 74 appearances between them. We also of the 21 players we have used this season, 47.6% have been English which is above the Premier League average. (also in reality Danny Fox is English, born in England, played for England U-21s) add in him and Davis and our squad is 57% British. % of 'Club Trained' players in Spain is 23.44%, In England it's 12.60%, that can be seen here - http://www.football-observatory.com/Indicators Also I noticed this little snippet - Useless Stoke. I would presume they ordered the "Demographic Study" which can be found here - http://www.football-observatory.com/-Publications,18- Costs 199 Euros.
  19. Yeh to prevent it happening again.
  20. Yawn, change the record. We get it, some people dismiss or enthuse about newspaper stories depending on how negative/positive the story is. You pointed it out ages ago, well done, but why the need to repeat it, it's boring.
  21. I know, lol @ skacel BTW. The format also really only fits these days with a standard 4-4-2 which we and many clubs don't play.
  22. I'll go for a non-linked or non serie A list Striker - Negredo £15 million or Hooper £8 million or Vela £12 million AM/Winger - Rodrigo £12 million, Hiroshi Kiyotake, £8 million, Kevin De Bruyne £7 million. Defensive Mid - Koke £10 million, Lars Bendner £15 million Centre-Back - Sokratis £8 million or Iñigo Martínez £6 million
  23. Agree with Rodrigo, a fantastic little player from what I've seen of him at Benfica. Is also the exact sort of player we should be looking at, someone who can play wide and up front, has pace and will run at people. However doubt he will go to us, much more likely to move to a Spanish team to get into the national team, plus he already has champions league football at Benfica. Do we need Will Hughes? Do we not have an 18 year old attacking midfielder who has already showed promising signs in the premiership? Have to question spending that amount on Naingollan, very good player but centre-mid is probably our strongest area. I reckon Astori will cost close to £15 million as well. Osvaldo for £8 million would be robbery as well.
  24. I like the numbers like that in the more 'traditional' way. 7 isn't a strikers number though, usually the right winger. The role Lambert plays he should have number 10.
