http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/search/2167161.Corbett_hits_out_at_her_former_ally_Wilde/ Corbett hits out at her former ally Wilde In a letter to Wilde dated March 20, she wrote: "I am deeply concerned that you have performed a total U-turn and pledged your shares to Rupert Lowe. "I also cannot help but wonder if you are now personally more interested in settling a score with Leon (Crouch) than the better interests of the club as a whole. "I would like to remind you of the fact that my family pledged their shares to you in good faith; that you recognised that Rupert had to go and the board required changing. "If you continue to support Lowe then I feel that you are personally betraying all those shareholders, including the Corbett family, who supported you. Every single one pledged their support to your motion to fire Lowe. "Why you weren't prepared to be PLC chairman remains a mystery, so indeed surrounds your resignation as chairman of the football club and member of the PLC board, without contesting the motion of no confidence taken without all members being present. "For the Corbett family's part, we should never have pledged unequivocal support without going thorough due diligence on your proposed appointments. "The board and club have consequently been through a tortuous process in dealing with Messrs Dulieu, Hone & Oldknow and a great deal of time, energy, and money was expended in sorting out that situation. "Following their resignations, the board has been working extremely closely with the special unit at Barclays Bank to retain their continued support and remain within agreed parameters and there is very little room to manoeuvre. "I can assure you that following the resignations, the board have done and are doing everything they can in constrained financial circumstances. "So what are you and Rupert hoping to achieve? "To say that investors will be more attracted if dealing with a board that speaks for a greater percentage of equity is disingenuous as all interested parties who have called me - virtually all of them - have apparently had no trouble in calling you and Rupert. "Michael, if more recently you feel that you were promised a seat on the main board then why have you not made contact with Pat Trant, Keith Wiseman and even myself to discuss the situation? "I recognise that from the outset Leon was outspokenly critical of your appointments; however, time has not proven him wrong in his judgement. "I am afraid that bringing Lowe back will split the fans and undermine the hard work that Nigel Pearson is doing in trying to avoid being drawn into relegation. "I have met and talked at length with him and honestly believe he has the personal and professional qualities to do a good job and address the weaknesses in our performance, given full support. "All that matters right now is to avoid relegation. "Can you honestly say that the timing of your proposal and associated uncertainties for the playing staff is going to assist that course? "It is no small irony that the main liquid asset of the club is Jacksons Farm which my father bought and pledged to Southampton on highly advantageous terms when he had the opportunity to retain it personally. "A lot of people have done a great deal over many years to support this club, which was always a byword for stability, and I ask you to reconsider your position." Following Wilde's failure to reply to the letter, Corbett sent him a text message last weekend. Wilde replied: "Mary, thank you for your messages - I will not respond in detail regarding the various points you raise - there will be ample opportunity in the future. "Simply put - the only possible opportunity for me to reconsider my present position would be in the event of Leon publically announcing his resignation from both Boards this weekend. "This is the only way I would be able to entertain any further dialogue with the existing Board. "Mary, our club is in serious danger of extinction under the current leadership - I will not stand by and let it die!"

Thanks Andrew.

Agree, bugger all has changed. Lowe is still a clueless idiot.
-
Please tell me you're taking the p*ss.
-
Shame as it was once a really well run family business.
-
A pointless waste of money.

Agree in part but christ let's not forget that Rupert is the king of the blame game.

Posted on The Ugly Inside forum http://www.clubfanzine.com/southampton/v2.forum.topic.bythread.php?id_t=84048&piece=topic84048&id_categ=37 Lowe and Porto fallout ?? posted by patred on: 07:34 - 07/12/2008 I am getting very worried about some of the things coming out of our club in the last 3 weeks. I have sat on this for a couple of weeks but yesterday some comments were made that could start a major crisis at our club. This is not an anti Lowe tirade, believe me. I am genuinly concerned our club is about to implode. 3 weeks ago it was rumoured that Porto was going to be replaced by Wotte, and at that time this club did 'aquire' another coach from Stoke. He was bought in to act as Wottes assistant, so the rumour would have it. At the 11th hour Lowe was supposed to have been persuaded by those close to him, to relent, giving Porto until Christmas to turn things round. I took this all with a pinch of salt, that was until I heard about the sheningans of yesterdays pre match get together. I heard about this after the game, and seen this in print.. There were a a few 'selected' pressmen at the get together. copied and pasted........................ Amazing fall out from the media gathering at Staplewood for the pre-chat regarding Sheff Wed. Off mic Jan Poortvliet confessed that he has recently considered quitting. He cited the ongoing interference of Rupert Lowe mainly but also being decieved with player sales. Poortvliet apparently was very angry from not being told that both Surman and Lallana were going to be sold until after the deals where done. He said that Lowe told him in September that no more players need to be sold/let go and you can build the team with the remaining players. But he faces losing more than half of the team by next summer. Kelvin Davis, Wright-Phillips, Rudi Skacel, Lallana, Surman, Shneiderlin will all have gone. .......................................... As you all know I have always thought that this Porto/Lowe thing was ill conceived, and at best was touch and go as to whether we would survive this seasons championship. But if it's true these two have fallen out, and mistrust each other, even that outside chance of survival is threatened. Changing direction mid season has never been a good thing, as we all know to our cost. But this club very survival is at threat should we have to get another man on the rudder. We have gone too far down this road to change now. Whether we like it not, Porto and Lowe must get on, and they must be able to trust one another. We, literally, cannot afford anymore in fighting, hiring and firing as we have done in the past decade.

???? Webbs are still trading.

Experience! The defence is now doing ok because we have the right balance of youth and experience there. The rest of the team is too heavily weighted with youngsters.
-
Thank god our defence has tightened up recently. Thought we looked very weak going forward.

Brilliant interview by Leon.

Nice to read another boring repetitive anti/pro Lowe thread. Keep up the good work fanatics:smt084

Agree. Like him or hate him, our most successful manager should be honoured. -

Childish behaviour from grown men. Pathetic! -
The plc chairman acts like a leader of a political party rather than a leisure & service industry leader.
-
I doubt I'll renew next season but it won't be because of Lowe. I have missed too many games this season because of work. Next season I will still go to the odd game here and there. Lowe should not stop you going.

:smt038 Where's the battle cry from our PLC chairman in our hour of need. His leadership qualities are terrible. He certainly is no Richard Branson.:smt075
-
Plus who's going to do the half-time team talk if Rupert's not there (only joking)
-
I'm really disappointed with the chairman's comments about some of the fans, today. Surely he should be trying to build bridges, not destroying them. The club is crying out for leadership, someone who can maximise income from its small customer base.
