  1. It was mooted that big games like these should be played at neutral ground. Like Carlisle for instance. As far away from the knuckle scrapers as possible. Not in favour, mind. Just give the rozzers tasers and shoot on site of webbed feet.
  2. Fellas, this thread could not possibly be complete without a picture of the most distinguished gent to ever wear the Red and White. I give you, Charles Burgess Fry: Users of the Dell Bar will recognize it. It is on the wall opposite the big screen.
  3. Personally I think the whole game should be played on Xbox with each team on sofas placed in the center circle of their respective grounds, displayed on the big screens and video relayed via skype so we can still sing abusive songs about shooting them and washing their mouths out etc.
  4. Goal celebrations should not get out of hand. The players will all be humping each other on the pitch so won't notice the fans. The fans should applaud politely and maybe, if it was a particularly well executed goal, voice their approval with a 'Bravo!' or a 'Well played!'. But on no occasion should they stand up while celebrating the goal in case those behind are unable to see the player-humping on the pitch.

  7. I remember one kid a few years ago was waving his ST at (what he considered were) plastics who had turned out for the Manure game a few season ago. He must have been all of 14 years young. A right dirty gob on him too. Then a few minutes later he was talking with his mate and couldn't remember the name of the ground we used to play at before moving to SMS. Everyone around him creased themselves in laughter! He got so embarrassed he didn't return after half-time!!
  8. Tomorrow night's game of Association Football has all the ear-marks of a banana skin. They are not dissimilar to us, they play good football and know how to kick and/or head the ball into the goal. Let's not get carried away with the success from the Boro game. Yes, we played them off the park, but posh are a different sort of team. At least they don't have mackail smith this year though.
  9. Yes, but it probably the most stupid dumb r-sed law in the land. First off, most people on the official coaches are geriatrics whose idea of a p!ss up is half a glass of sweet sherry before sunday lunch. Second, there is no corresponding law stopping proper lager louts (like me) from sinking 18 pints on the train or in a private car (so long as not driving, obviously). Then there is the small matter of the fact that most games people just get off the frickin coach and roll into a pub.

  11. if all it is is the usual "Does your boyfriend know you're here" and "we can see you holding hands" then they should just grow up. It is banter, and I would humbly suggest not homophobic. Homophobia is the fear of gays; a more modern description is hatred of gays and the gay life-style. If the Albion fans are getting real nasty verbal hatred thrown at them, then fair enough. Not right. But what exactly in "Does your boyfriend know you're here" and "we can see you holding hands" is so nasty that it could be classified as hatred of gays? It is hardly in the same league as making monkey sounds when a black player gets the ball and chucking bananas at him.

  13. No. Disagree. The cost is a complete red herring. The only pertinent issue is that it is wrong to promote one human being - nay, the whole damn family - above others purely on the basis that their daddy was also the son of their grandfather who was the son of their great-grandfather who was..... That is it. In a nutshell. William and his first born may both be wonderful people; kind, honest and honourable but in no way does that give him and his first-born the right to be my head of state when I, you and any other citizen can not aspire to be the head of state of the country too. Leave the cost etc out of it. It is tabloid rubbish and easily to knock down, as an argument.
  14. Capitalism. Not happening in this country. Not for a long time. Can't have capitalism without capital, that is to say without 'savings'. Debt is not capital (Duh!!). Corporate governance. Not happening in this country. Not for a long time. Can't have effective corporate governance without linking the long-term reward of the directors with the long-term success of the firm. Fly in a director for three years and pay him millions: not good governance. Where we are now is a million miles from Adam Smith.

  16. I share your position on the 'royal' family. Just don't get carried away with cliches about 'squillions on security' or 'millions on palaces' etc. It does our republican cause only harm, as it is absurd to believe that an elected head of state would not also incur such costs. It is not the costs of the 'royal' family which I detest. It is the inequity. All humans are equal before God. To raise one family above all others is anathema. It is a fraud committed on the human condition; that one is not good enough and should 'know one's place'. It must end - not because of how much it costs us - but because of what it is.
  17. To be born into a position of authority and influence is only slightly worse than those who stand by and allow themselves to be ruled over by people who were born into that position. I am a polite republican. I respect Elizabeth Windsor; there can be no doubt that she has served her country impeccably and has given her life to her country. That said, it is plain wrong and undemocratic that someone should be afforded special treatment by simple virtue of who their parents were. The monarchy must end. I doubt it will in my life time but I will never bow to Elizabeth Windsor, Charles Windsor, William Windsor or any other of their family. I will treat all of them just the same as the fellow who occupies the seat next to me at football. Democracy can not be complete whilst there is still an unelected elite ruling over us. Whether they have any power or not is not the issue. The very nature that a person is deemed better, higher and more worthy because of his/her parents is plain wrong. End the monarchy now. Be polite about it, thank Elizabeth for her service but ask her to move on.
  18. They are ***NOT*** travelers. They have been STATIC for over 10 years. There should not be any emotional outpouring for these ILLEGAL residences. They did not have planning permission. End of Story. The other half of the farm did have planning permission which is why they have not been evicted. Just because they are Irish, and speak with an engaging Irish lilt does not mean bugger all. They have broken the law. They are now gone. Thank God. All those soppy doe-eyed 'activists' who flocked to their cause - undoubtedly from well off middle-class backgrounds - are infantile nuisances if nothing else. Any other family in the land can not just build a permanent structure on their land without consent. Why should these STATIC 'travelers' be treated any differently? They should not. The founding principle of the Justice System is that the Law applies equally to all. Quit the emotional crocodile tears shed over a 'discriminated minority'. Some middle-class 'activist' knob-head had a loud haler and was banging on about genocide and persecution. **** off you over pampered little ****. THEY BROKE THE LAW. Good riddance. End of.
