Many congratulations Rickie lambert - you are already one of Southampton's great scorers with much more to come. A much deserved award.

My assessment - we were poor for the first half hour - the midfield was pretty awful with the exception of one Adam Lallana. We gave the ball away far too often throughout the match. We improved after the first goal and looked Ok in the second half. Eventually it was quite a comfortable win but not really that impressive. Hopefully we will be better away at Millwall and Hull.

Lambert has been excellent this season but Lallana is outstanding and will be a major asset in the premier league - first rate!

I would give Butterfield another go at right back. I hope our talisman Chaplow is back.

This was a very disappointing performance (in terms of scoring goals) and a disappointing result. I can't imagine why anyone would say otherwise. It was also disappointing that we could not defend our lead for just a few minutes until the end. We needed a stronger midfield - Hammond tried hard I know -and i was very surprised that Chaplow was not involved at all - a big mistake i feel.

All fair enough but I didn't realise they have beaten West ham twice - we need to be wary of this and every match!

I will be surprised if Chaplow does not start.

I thought Chaplow had a much better second half. I was very disappointed in the first half at how often many of our players just gave the ball away with poor passes to the opposition - Fox and Richardson being as guilty of this as the midfield.
