  1. Sturrock only cropped up after Hoddle had decided against taking the job, and I agree, he was a disaster. What I'm saying is that if it really had been only a minority of fans against Hoddle's reappointment, and the board obviously felt he was the best candidate, surely he and they would have done the deal. Very few fans were supporting the idea and most were dead against it, either the ones I knew personally or the ones on radio forums, letters to the echo, etc etc. Hoddle clearly wanted the job and the board clearly wanted to appoint him. If they had believed that most of the fanbase were in favour of it but were just keeping schtum, they'd have gone ahead regardless. Dont forget, that was actually the reason Hoddle gave for withdrawing from the potential position; that he was aware that the fans would not give him their backing. He gave no other reason.
  2.
  3. I don't accept that at all. Just about every Saints fan i know was absolutely dead set against the return of the prodigal, and that covers a fair spectrum of opinion. I only know one guy who was in favour of it, and even he had his reservations after Hoddle's England debacle and God-bothering stuff. As for keeping us in the prem, well thats just monumental speculation, he'd have had to work within the same budget limitations placed on every other manager we had after him. He may have done better, he may not, but one things for sure; the fans wouldnt have been behind him, at least not from the start. If he had thought otherwise dont you think he'd have taken the job regardless of the "vocal minority"? He obviously wanted it.
  4. Well, if he doesn't get the job, it can only be because he did something wrong in a previous lifetime.
  5. Hardly unexpected from such a fine physical specimen, but very sad just the same. I remember watching the darts all those years ago, Jocky, Bristow et al.....and what was the name of that old grinder who did the nine dart checkout live on tv? John something? Good link too stockport, apparently dexys were made up with the mistake and it also reminds me of that "Not the nine'o clock news" sketch where they were sinking the booze instead of the arrows hahahaa
  6. I've just seen Fabrice Muamba wearing a "Pray For Kenny" t-shirt
  7. I was annoyed by his comments about Sharp. Nobody's forcing you to post if you arent interested in it.
  8. Spoken without the slightest tinge of bitterness!! Well done mate
  9. I have to go to my niece's wedding on the 14th July. I'm a right plastic, me.
  10. I wasn't so much annoyed by that as by his comment about Sharp. I was pointing out that he was also moaning about a corner he reckons shouldn't have been given while ignoring a previous poor decision that meant they still had 11 men on the pitch.
  11. Plus, who was it clattered right through one of ours over near the tunnel in the first half? That looked like a straight red to me from block 6, he got away with a yellow.
  12. No, but moaning about selling a player then having him score against you is ridiculous imo.
  13. Doncaster manager Dean Saunders said: "The ref cost us the game. He gave them a corner which was never a corner. They scored from the corner. It was a mistake for the second goal. "It's disappointing we lost points against a top of the league side. "I think it's typical we sold Sharp to Southampton and then he scores two goals against us. He came back to haunt us." Miserable prat. What was he expecting, Sharp to go easy on them rather than doing his best for the club thats paying his wages? And I suppose the couple of million quid Donny got from the deal was meaningless, was it? Nobody forced them to sell him. And why is it any more disappointing to lose points against a top of the league side than a bottom of the league side? Surely it would be more expected, thus less disappointing. Graceless pillock.
  14. Nicely done, sir.
  15. I thought he was pretty good for us tbh, had no idea he was still playing. Always thought he was a class act for us. Top work on the lucky boxers, I will also be doing my bit by having my lucky fag before the game, so get ready Julian..
  16. Yet another potential banana skin to evade imho. It would be just like us to get two blinding away wins, then slip up at home to a side struggling against relegation. There are no chickens being counted chez scotty.
  17. Pretty much sold out when I went in earlier. Ended up in 6, never sat there before. As red and white says tho, the away crowd isnt going to amount to many.
  18. You should have kept hold of it, they will be a collectors item soon, arent the treasury supposed to be replacing them with a £5 coin?
  19. Its the way dey tell 'em
  20. This from Ken Tone, exactly what I thought. I wouldnt be surprised to see him come on for a last five minute cameo (assuming we're winning....which I would f*cking hope) so he can give the donny fans a wave etc. I also wouldn't be astounded to see him left off the bench altogether.
  21. Do they still play football? I had no idea.
  22. lol, I'm sure I remember some of the Terry Paine and Ron Davies era players sloping off to the sidelines for a crafty drag as soon as the halftime whistle blew back in the late sixties. And also Mick Channon drifting out of position to check on the 3:30 at Sandown hahahaaaa, happy days
  23. When the bags been tied up and the kittens have been drowned I'll stop panicking. For christs sake, dont count any chickens yet, that way madness lies
  24. Thats true, and wasn't it more or less compulsory for players to smoke at least 40 a day back then?
